I'd round my rating to about 3.5 stars for their donuts here. In general, I love that they have a much larger variety of flavors, and their toppings and icings are unique for the most part. For this review, I had their mango sticky rice donut and one that looked like it had pistachios, along with two strawberry-like donuts and a churro-flavored donut. They have relatively strong profiles in every one of their donut flavors, though I notice they are best eaten the day of; they do not sit well overnight, so if you're not a big eater I wouldn't grab more than 3 donuts. The inside of each donut ball is more like a regular soft donut inside than a squishier, mochi-like texture like Dochi's. From previous visits to this location - including when they opened to long lines back in 2021 - servers are usually pretty fast and accurate when it comes to getting people's orders in and grabbing donuts. The same probably couldn't be said for making their hotdogs though I'm not sure if that's changed now. They always have new flavors every Monday, and one server back then has suggested calling in to confirm their flavors of the week. I still have yet to get the banana milk flavor donut for my mom, and I'm not sure if this location has it, but I'll definitely come back and/or have their donuts every now and then. For now I prefer Dochi and their longer-lasting donuts. read more

Used to order a lot when they first opened up and I'll say that the service went down hill as the years went by, some of the workers would not notice you for a couple minutes while they're busy chatting with each other (this was when they didn't have the self service order tablet) and others were just busy doing the donut decorations. The food is always ok, nowadays I'll just try to order their donuts since for some reason their Korean hotdogs take a bit longer to make which is understandable since it needs to be fried, but flavor wise it wasn't consistent enough to where I want to order it every time I come to this mall. I've never been big on any kind of doughnut, but I really enjoyed Dochi so I decided to go ahead and give Mochinut a try last time I was in the mall. Customer service is not a thing here. I had to use a touch screen to order. No one talked to me, I don't even think they really looked at me...and I was still asked to tip??? The best part is I didn't see a "no tip" so I clicked on custom, which suggested $1. No. Just no. They offered a 3 pack of donuts, which really is the perfect number. I went with ube, churro caramel, and cheesecake. Overall pretty okay mochi donuts with good flavour. The texture is a little bit heavier than I'd expect; the texture of the cheesecake one especially, so dense it reminded me of bread. No customer service and okay doughnuts. This establishment needs to get a reality check especially with their lack of customer service! The food is ok, but nothing special and is overshadowed by the underwhelming customer experience. The lack of human touch can really be frustrating for the customer. They try to make the experience fully automated with their touchscreen ordering process that is totally impersonable. They have workers standing around while customers struggle a their machines to place orders. They don't monitor the fact that their machines malfunction and don't process credit card payments until customers are pulling out their hair. The final straw was that they refused to provide ice water after purchasing tons of food! And to have the audacity to include a tip line is utterly ridiculous! Have of course passed this spot many times while on the way to and from the cinema upstairs. Usually there is a long line and I don't want to wait while everyone struggles to navigate the self-order screen. Finally, though, the counter was not busy and I went for it. The latte was very good - although I asked for hot and got cold - I think many places and people assume you want it cold for some reason. I liked the flavors they had for the mochi donuts and found the presentation especially pleasing - the way they put the donuts in a little convenient hand carrying (and eating) container; the small accents they put on some of the donuts. I got creme brulee and passion fruit. The creme brulee was very tasty. The passion fruit was very fruity! I found them somewhat more cakelike than other mochi donut places - which was fine! - and I also found that they didn't keep well - so eat them when you get them! I've had their hotdogs before and it's pretty good but didn't know they made drinks so wanted to try it out. Pros: great customer service from the employees, efficient ordering system and transparent on their extra charges, good variety of menu of hot dogs and donuts Cons: donuts are OK (icing too sweet and tad bland for my liking), service as an establishment could be better. Spent nearly $40 of donuts and charges extra 10 cents for box but due to lack of change ended up being charged 60 cents instead. Understandable of their situation and WA charges 10 cents usually, the gal was very nice and I was asked upfront. Paid anyways because I wanted to split the dozen with my team. However if I went to Dochi 5 minutes away to split my dozen they made it a lot easier to do without extra charges. If they handled that better their service would be PERFECT. Additionally, their computer ordering system makes it difficult to make these kinds of requests. Solid 3 stars. OMG I can't believe I waited this long to try a mochi donut. I had my first one (well, first three LOL) at Mochinut Southcenter and I'm in love! I naively thought a mochi donut was a bunch of mochi balls stuck together and deep fried. However, they just use mochi flour, so you get the flavor and chewiness of mochi, but it is really light and fluffy and tastes like a donut. Also, since they make the donuts with eight separate balls, it is super easy to split them apart and share with others. Every day they offer 6 flavors (which rotate). They have one of each on display at the register, so you can see what they look like. They also post the menu ahead of time on their Instagram. It seems like preferred pricing is based on multiples of three: 3, 6, or 12. We ordered the Churros Caramel, Strawberry Shortcake, and Ube Snow. Honestly, they were all good! Only one of them was still warm, which made it even better, but you just have to get lucky with the timing of your order since they make a bunch of them ahead of time. Mochinut is located on the 2nd floor at Southcenter mall, in the food court. This is more of a 3.5, rounded to 4 stars. Their mochi donuts are good - soft and chewy, but I wasn't too interested in their flavors (they didn't have all the flavors as shown on their IG?) when I went this time. Also, they don't sell their donuts individually - you have to buy 3 donuts or half dozen, or by the dozen... which forced me to buy more than I wanted to, especially given there wasn't that many flavors I even wanted. They also ran out of boxes, so my donuts were just tossed into a bag. This wouldn't have been a problem if we were eating them right away, but I needed to save them for later. We go to the AMC movie theater on the top floor of the mall about once a month, and I always walk by Mochinut to see what flavors they are making that day. I've liked some flavors better than others, and when they get really busy (or have new staff maybe?) they don't fully cook the donuts. They're not quite undercooked enough that they're dough, but they don't have the same firmness of a fully cooked one. It's like they're rushing, or maybe afraid of burning them in the fryer, so they pull them out too soon? You can tell if two donuts came from different batches because one will be cooked perfectly and the other one is pale and chewier than it should be. It's so hit and miss that sometimes they're AMAZING, and sometimes they're just "meh." They also have a policy where the minimum number of donuts they sell is 3. It's not corporate Mochinut policy--there are other locations that sell you one. It is this specific location. I've even specifically asked if they'd sell me just one donut, and their answer was a flat out "no." I may want to eat three donuts, but it would make me sick. And having another two sitting around--first of all, they don't keep well, second of all I don't want to walk the extras back to my car, and third it's such a temptation to eat more. I only want one. I'd be willing to pay a little more for a single donut. I'm fine if my donut just comes in a bag and not a box--the box is wasted anyway.
