My husband ate there on Sunday 06/14 This is usually are all time fave, Chinese restaurant and food. We have not been back in a while b/c of work and all. So I ordered what I usually eat, "Chicken w/mixed veggies." I could not finish the food at all. It was so spicy hot. So spicy that my chest & tongue, throat were burning. Then my stomach was burning. The server asked me what was wrong & I told him.I said someone put tons of hot pepper seeds (you can see them) and spice and I don't eat spicy stuff. He apologized & said they had just hired a new cook & are "trying to iron things out with the way he cooks his food." He apologized so much and I had my husband take me home to find something to settle the burn. And no he did not offer to take it off my check. Extremely irritating when you order soup for a family. You then ask if the crispy noodles are in the bag because they ALWAYS forget. I open the bag and have to ask them for them because guess what! My husband and I came back to 888 to have lunch, this ordered spicy chicken dumplings, to die for! The service as always is pretty quick, and our server super helpful! Place is always clean. We also tried the shrimp and chicken curry, mellow and creamy, really good. We also ordered the Szechuan beef, I love this dish, is super flavorful, savory, crunchy, delicious! One of my go to local chinese restaurant chains in the SE Houston area. They have your standard takeout style Chinese dishes but they also have more traditional Sichuan style dishes like the fried Sichuan jumbo shrimp, cumin beef, dry pot chili dishes, boiled Sichuan dish, etc. The quality of the food is great and and portions are excellent for the price. The various locations I have to been to in person are great for a sit down meal and service is prompt as well. read more

This was our go-to restaurant when we lived here last year. We do not eat meat so we order vegetable dishes. They said no vegetable chow mien, however they said it can be made without chicken, so basically vegetable chow mien, right? WRONG! I got a quart size jar of more sauce than vegetables. I also ordered the sautéed mixed vegetable. Surprise, barely any sauce. So it poured the chow mien sauce over the vegetables, so we ended up with one dish that was not very tasty. So sad to see a great place hit rock bottom in less than the 8 months we were away. Also the Chinese red pepper and garlic sauce was on everything because they did not put the top on correctly. After we laddled 3/4 of chow mien sauce off the top of the container, there wasn't much left in terms of vegetables. ( See the photo, it shows the amount of the vegetables). What angered us was the fact it cost us 12.95 for the chow mien "soup". They lost our business and forced me to write this poor review so other vegans do not get ripped off like we were. Food tasted amazing!!!! Great blend of spice and umami. We ate family style so we had a little bit of everything. My favorite dishes were the ox tongue and tripe and the cumin beef dish. The mapo tofu was also yummy, I just wish it had a little bit more of beef. The ambiance was very welcoming. This would be the type of place to take friends for a casual hang out or a first-time date. The place was also super clean! The service was hasty, too. After ordering our food came in about 15-20 mins. some food came a bit before the others(like 3-5mins before) but it was still great. I always thought the food was really good BUT DO NOT ORDER PICKUP. They screw up the order EVERY SINGLE TIME. I'm talking 3-4 orders in a row where a full entree was missed every single time. Stumbled upon this restaurant on our way home from UTMB. We decided to order takeout. My wife and I were very pleased with our meal. The young staff members in the front were incredibly helpful and attentive to our needs. (Carla and Allan) My wife ordered shrimp lettuce wraps as an appetizer, while I opted for cheese puffs with the strawberry sauce. She appreciated that the lettuce was served separately, allowing her to customize her wrap. The packaging was also excellent. I ordered the chicken szechuan as it's a favorite I've ordered many times before. Since I like celery, I asked for extra celery. When I picked it up, I had a $2 charge for celery. No problem, right? I get home (15 miles away), no extra celery. I called the restaurant and they had me text a picture. The lady then talked to the kitchen. Make sure you ask for the "other menu" ! ;) try the beef in chili pot , it's one of the most complex culinary tastes have ever had, really strong and deep profiles , spectacular, but not for amateurs. It's probably why they only offer that menu on request as it's legit Chinese and not altered to the western taste. Coming back from Galveston googled Chinese food near 888 pops up we get there we knocked on the door they were 2 team members seating there and watching videos the girl at the register didn't even care to inform us that the entrance is from the other side saw a customer pulled up to the door I realized the entrance is from here Ohk nvm I ask that mam I wanted to dine in she said we close @10pm I was like Google says 11pm so what she started making faces the girl at the cash counter we asked Togo ? She made a face and said let me check I'm extremely disappointed with the team and I feel really sorry for the owner he's money is getting wasted either the owner should change the employees or else he might've to go out of business with this attitude in hospitality industry never going back and making sure this review does wonders read more
