What an awesome job on my car!!! Loren and his crew have the highest of standards for their work. And they are a pleasure to work with. My insurance agent forgot to put rental car on my policy!!!!!! I wasn't going to pay for a rental car to sit outside my house as I work from home, just to drive it to the market once a week. I explained this to Loren and he did everything he could to get my car back to me. He is patient and kind even though I know I am a pain in the rear end!!! My car looks so perfect!!! I called to get a quote on a basic oil change for my daily driver, a 986 Boxster. The price I was given was around $280. Shocked, I asked the guy, "Why so much?" His immediate and unapologetic reply was, "It's a Porsche". Now even more shocked, and insulted, I asked how many labor hours was involved. He said they book it for 1.5 hours. Keep in mind I've owned over 200 vehicles in my life and I'm a big time car guy. Also, I knew I could get the OEM oil and filter for under $100. So $180 for labor? Wow. I'm a busy guy and tried to save some time by having a pro shop do the oil, but I wound up doing it myself... and it took all of about 20 minutes. In fact, it was one of the easiest oil changes I've ever done. Kudos to Porsche for a good oil system design. So now I know I won't be taking any of my cars there since they think they are entitled to charge too much for their work because, "It's a Porsche". Wow read more

911 Design is known for their Porsche expertise, particularly in custom modifications and restorations. I understand from all accounts these folks live and breathe Porsche and they're the go-to experts when you have a fancy Porsche that needs expert assistance. However, when it came to boring stuff like wheel alignments and oil changes, I've had problems with results and customer care, respectively, over the last couple of years. Two years ago I took my Boxster in to get an alignment since the car was drifting to the right. After I got the car back, the drifting was unchanged. I spoke with 911 who assured me they did it properly. I then took the car to Riverside (Walter's) Porsche who redid the alignment and found the alignment to be out of spec. To 911's great credit, they refunded the cost of the alignment and comped me a part after I showed them Riverside's before/after alignment specs. [And even though the drift problem was better, it still wasn't completely fixed so I ended up taking the car to Rusnak in Pasadena and they addressed the problem directly rather than simply doing a set-and-forget "green bar" alignment.] I've been getting oil changes from 911 for many years. Last year (2019) when they did the oil change, they both reset my computer's statistics and changed all my mirror settings in order to test drive my car. I could forgive the computer reset as part of the oil change indicator reset (though I was told a full computer reset wasn't necessary), but my car doesn't have any memory settings on the mirrors and no blind spot warning system...and sometime after I picked up the car I made a lane change and nearly side-swiped a car then realized someone had changed my side mirror settings. Porsche drivers are a picky, perfectionist lot (is this a surprise?!?) and I called 911 and lost it. They didn't tell me they adjusted my mirrors which I actually spent a long LONG time getting just right to see my blind spots. Did they really have to change all my mirror settings to test drive the car? If so, they needed to tell me *before* I drove off. Hey, 911: How about setting my mirrors back to where they were?!?! Oh, you can't do that?? Well guess what: Neither can I on an immediate basis. The 911 Rep Said: "You should check your mirrors before you drive." Really...check them against what? ...it wasn't immediately obvious you fiddled with my mirrors (except for the rear view mirror and the related seat adjustment, which are expected and relatively easy to reset...though I don't have memory seats, either). I didn't write about this last year on Yelp because I respected 911's expertise and I realized I (probably) overreacted. I remained quiet. So, I recently called 911 to get my oil changed. They remembered me and essentially told me (in so many words) I was persona non grata at the shop. They fired a customer, which is completely in their rights. I'm sorry it turned out this way...guess the stings and scars from last year's tongue lashing really must have resonated. I was willing to live-and-let-live. So be it. My clear advice to 911: Please warn customers if you've changed something safety-related in their vehicles as part of the services you've performed. read more

I was extremely impressed with the level of customer service and expertise at 911 Design. I took a car there for a PPI and was checked in by Shirley who was extremely welcoming. Scott (the Shop Manager) who was very helpful, took the car in and explained the process. Upon receiving the report at the end of the 3 hour inspection, the owner Loren, went over my report and explained in detail every aspect making it easy for me to understand. Needless to say their complete honesty and detailed 4 page report assisted me in making my decision on whether or not to purchase the car. Have been to this shop for service and repair and body work for my 1999 911. Found the owner Loren Beggs and staff to be extraordinarily courteous and accommodating - even gave me a ride back home. As soon as you arrive the car is prepped/checked in- with paper floor mats, plastic seat protectors and steering wheel cover to protect against grease during repair. Was very delighted as I had not experienced this service outside of a dealership. The attention to detail can be seen everywhere. The lobby is impeccable, floors polished beautifully and the shop is the as seen through the glass from the lobby. Even with all the regular cars and race cars they work on, everything is spotless and organized. (Showed up a little late to pick up my car one evening and the order was on his knees with a rag touching up the streaks the polisher had made! Now that is detail...) they even have a nice customer office to work in if you are waiting for your car. One of my visits was unfortunately a fender bender. They have full auto body and paint in house...all the latest equipment too. Best part- the owner dealt with the insurance adjuster making it painless for me when I insisted on Porsche parts not aftermarket. Just so you know they do collision repairs on more than Porsche. I took my Infiniti SUV in for repair. From start to finish they have 5-star service. They dealt directly with the insurance company for the estimate and the check was sent directly to them (which is what I wanted to happen) Parts were ordered prior to my arrival to insure a quick turn around. The repair is perfection. Quick turnaround without skimping on quality or workmanship. They kindly shuttled me to and from the car rental facility as well. When I picked up my vehicle the owner, Loren, reviewed the repair with me to make sure I was completely satisfied. Oh and my abby was all washed and pretty for me. I was looking for someone new to service my 03 911 Cab. as I was NOT happy with my regular guy....I must say it was NOT the least expensive way to begin a relationship...That being said, 1 item lead to another, and another, and another... so, I'm thinking "This is NOT the way I want this relationship to start" ....BUT, I went in when the car was ready and Loren Beggs (the owner) took me to the old parts and thoroughly went thru each and everyone showing me where they were bad and why they were bad. Do most shops do that ....maybe .... But, I never received such a detailed explanation and that helped. What it really ment was my "regular"guy was NOT servicing and maintaining my car.... So, he called to tell me my car was ready and to pick up at 5:00....then a few hours later he called me back to tell me there was a water leak....I could tell in his voice this was a difficult call for him as he is also trying to establish a relationship. When he said he would not charge me for the part and the labor I was impressed. His reasoning for this was that it would have failed down the road. This is a business man that understands customer service and client care. I am a REALTOR and need my car, yes it is a daily driver and Loren gets that.... Will he do that for everyone? I bought my first Porsche 993 without doing a full inspection on the vehicle. After bring the car home any doing my own inspection I noticed some repair work that didn't look quit right. I took the car to Loren at 911 Design. Loren could tell right away that the car was involved in an accident and was not repaired correctly. Loren explained to me what exactly it would take to get the car repaired correctly and back to within Porsche specs. They were able to check the frame on the car to make sure the frame was not bent. They soda blasted the car. Made sure all the body gaps were within Porsche standards and gave it a beautiful black paint job. I explained to Loren that I didn't have a lot of money and if there was anything I could do to save some money. Although good quality work isn't cheap Loren was able to help me save a little bit of money by swapping services. Loren and Allen were great and explained everything they were doing to the car. The car came out beautiful and has one of the best paint jobs I have ever seen. If you are reading this review, my assumption is you are looking for a repair/maintenance or facility for your Porsche. Well, you can stop the "looking" because this is a shop that can and does do it all. Read the other reviews, that's not by accident. Porsche owners are a "special" breed and some of the most difficult and "retentive" people to deal with. This is one of the finest independent Porsche shops around. I can make this statement without reservation because I have extensive experience with Loren, the owner, Scott the manager, and most of the staff. Moreover, I have experience with other "top tier" shops in SoCal, and therefore have the ability to make comparisons. This is evident the moment you step foot in the facility, which is maintained and looks better than most people's homes. It's spotless and organized and is what a first class repair and restoration facility looks and feels like. They have performed maintenance, accident repair, and numerous one-off upgrades to my car; from the very simple and mundane window switch, to a complex ABS controller, or axle replacement. I don't take my car to them because it's convenient. I don't take my car to them because I'm trying to find the most "value" for my money. I take my car to them because I trust and believe in the quality of the workmanship and the level of customer service I receive. Period. I've seen the quality of workmanship on other cars they've worked on, and I've experienced it with my own. They don't let the car out of the shop until it meets THEIR standards of excellence.
