Using Yelp Projects, I filled out the repair request, and the bids came pouring in! YY Computer offered to do diagnostics and software install for $100. YY Computer is in Oakland Chinatown on Jackson St. I made an appt, and dropped by in the morning. While I was there, they did a quick check and found the hard drive (HD) to be damaged. They repaired my PC and upgraded my HD to 1 TB. It took about 2 business days. When I went to pickup my PC, they switched it on and show me the new HD. I'm very pleased with my experience. Small parking lot or meters on the street.

He got it done in 2 hours, cleaned every component, and wired everything up perfectly with exceptional cable management. I also had some questions about my hardware after the build was done and he didn't hesitate for a second to manually take out the SSD I had been asking about, explain everything to me, answer any questions I had and more, and reinstall the components and give suggestions on future part choices. Alex went above and beyond, and notably he was the most affordable out of all the options. I called Computerland in Berkeley, Central Computers, YY Computers, DJ Computers, and for the same service they were quoting anywhere between $140 to $250, asking anywhere between 24 hours and 1 week. Alex quoted $100 over the phone, and when it was time to pay, he asked for just $80. For the quality of service he has provided, there was no way I could just give him $80. Even $100 was a steal. My new PC is running flawlessly, I'm coming back to him without a doubt for future needs.

I left my MacBook pro…read morewith them mid-December, got it back the first time in Jan 21, had to take it back twice due to their issue and finally got it back Feb 13. I've paid almost $1k to replace the logic board, keyboard & mouse pad. The quote for the logicboard was $200 over what Apple quoted me ($680). They replaced my keyboard with a super janky 3rd party keyboard that bowed near the screen, sounded horrible and the space bar only worked if it was touched directly in the middle of it. I took it back & they replaced the entire keyboard/mousepad again but with an Apple product. Only this time the touch id key wouldnt work. So I had to take it back AGAIN and the tech cannibalized my original keyboard for its touch ID key. And they tried to charge me for that change but the tech told them that was a mistake. I had to wait while they called the tech to get that straightened out. Now I wonder if that's why I paid so much. I really wanted to support a local business, they came highly recommended by a friend but I didnt have a good experience. Maybe they are better for PCs. And now the bottom half of my laptop has rough edges from the tools the tech used. The whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth and set me back months for my work.
