I had a wonderful experience with working with Wedge today. I was having an issue where my iphone 12 speaker crapped out. Apple wanted to charge me $500 for the repair. I called every repair place within a 10 mile radius to get quote for repair which ranged from $70-$130 from 3rd parties. Most of the techs I spoke to gave me a warning that when repairing the earphone speaker there was a risk the the face ID cable will be damaged beyond repair. When I Called 911 tech, they assured me that this was not the case. They got me fixed up in less than an hour for $80 and everything works beautifully. Recently he replaced the screen on my iPhone 6, when I got it back the screen was a bit glitchy, he first showed me how to trouble shoot the issue at no cost. I am very happy with WEDGE at 911 Tech Repair. My daughter broke her iPad screen right before a big road trip and there was no way I was going to leave without the iPad getting fixed. I found 911 Tech Repair online and I was happy to know they were right down the street. The pricing was VERY reasonable and it was a one week turn around time. Which was also reasonable for me since we were leaving in about 12 days right when she broke her iPad screen. The iPad works great and looks as if it had never broken. Experience one. My second experience was when I took in my iPad mini. It was put away in my drawer for about a year and some odd months. I had lost all hope. I had cracked the screen in a small area but as time went by the cracked screen got bigger and bigger. I finally took it to the mall in 2014 to get fixed. They fixed the screen but the iPad mini never worked again. The functions were not doing as instructed. I had no idea the mall stand had done a bad job. I just thought the cracked screen had effected the entire gadget. I had already taken my daughters big iPad this December 2016 when I told him about the iPad mini and he told me to take it over. He educated me on what the place in the mall had done wrong and how he could fix it. He told me to come back in 3 hours and that is what I did. Repeat customer that has had a few iPhone screens fixed here with great results. Brought in another phone that got wet and a laptop with an SSDD which failed. Waited a a couple of days and called. No fix for either yet. Waited another week and called. No fix yet. Stopped in two weeks later, gave me a solid game plan and I felt better. Waited a week, no call from them. Months have now gone by, no repairs, no communication and no phone or laptop. Just gone. Really sad that what began as a good repair place has become a customer service black hole and no hope of having my devises returned, repaired or otherwise. My computer had a failing hard drive. I was panicking because I telecommute every day and work on client projects. I was dead-in-the-water without my computer, so I needed it right away. I also have a lot of confidential client information on it, so I wanted a place that could fix it locally and within my sight. Wedge at 911 Tech Repair was amazing. He not only replaced my hard drive, but spent a lot of time reassuring me that he would get me back up and running. He explained everything he did and did so with a warm smile. I spent a lot of time in the shop as I waited (a one-TB hard drive takes time to clone), and I saw him treat everyone that way. If he takes a little longer to get something done than he initially said, it's because he is spending time with someone like me who needed a few extra minutes over the phone or off the street. Wedge impressed me with how much he knew about every product that came through the door. He seemed to genuinely care about his customers, and often offered advice to help cut costs or improve the reliability or performance of a newly-repaired device. When I had to return for another problem (it was a technically-challenging day for me), again, he was compassionate, helpful, and resolved my problem, even though he had to stay late to do so. Multiple phone calls - the mailbox was full until the last call Two trips in one day - not ready - said I would be back by 5:30 (they close at 6) I arrived at 5:25 - they were closed. WARNING READ BEFORE YOU GO* Did not like this place at all, I brought my tablet to go fix it and this unprofessional big guy "fixed" my tablet but little did I know in 3 weeks the screen started popping out. I've gone here probably 5 times to fix computers and cell phones. He is the CHEAPEST you'll find anywhere and by far the most HONEST. I've had multiple screen fixes for both Apple and Android phones and he always sees if there's cheaper options available i.e. meaning checking the back before ordering anything new. I brought in my Canon camera, which was having an issue with the lens not retracting. The guy said that he was a little backed up at the moment (this was on a Saturday morning) but should be able to take a look Monday evening or Tuesday morning, and would give me a call then. I'll spare you all the tedious details of the next month, but in summary, I never received a single phone call back-- not when he said he would call, not when I'd leave multiple messages in a week, not when I actually managed to get ahold of him and he'd say he just needed to check one thing and would call me back in 10 minutes. Every time I did manage to get ahold of him, it seemed like he couldn't remember what camera I was talking about, and then it would be one thing or another-- waiting for some fuse he'd ordered, having sent it to a camera expert at one of the other stores, trying to hear back from a factory in China-- the story of what was supposedly being tried, changed every time. Finally after a full month, I retrieved my camera, unrepaired. Actually, it was was off than when I dropped it off-- a piece was missing from a front panel (that he'd forgotten to put in when reassembling the camera-- ???), another piece had supposedly fallen apart (despite that it had never had any issue before...) and I realized later that the strap was missing as well. Maybe they do ok for small jobs that can be fixed on the spot, but don't trust them or expect any customer service if you have a job that needs to be dropped off. I'll certain never use this place again. Waste of my time and money. read more

I've been into this store four times now. Each time, the service has been excellent! First, my daughter's iPhone screen shattered and 911 Tech Repair fixed it in one day at a very reasonable cost. The second time I went in was for a new battery for my iPhone 6 Plus. Again, excellent service. Unfortunately I happened to get a bad battery that didn't work well. So I stopped back in and 911 Tech Repair stood behind their product and service. With apologies, another new battery (by a different supplier this time) was installed quickly while I waited without charge. The fourth trip was today. I dropped my iPhone and (despite its Pelican case) the top of the front of the screen popped out of the rest of the phone. I considered pushing/squeezing it back together but a little pressure seemed like nothing was happening. Before I made it worse, I stopped in and 911 Tech Repair fixed it (with a tool they had so it wouldn't get worse like I would have caused) in about 30 seconds. Free of charge! He's got a great business going because our electronic devices are always going to break, but his excellent customer service provides us with a fast and inexpensive way to get these necessary devices fixed quickly. I highly recommend 911 Tech Repair in Grayslake to anyone. I've send friends there too and they have also been very happy with the service provided. I dropped my desktop off on Friday, May 20th at approximately 4pm because my hard drive began to fail (in the middle of a large project with a deadline). They offered a reasonable price for a full diagnostic test, which beats any prices in the area that I've seen. My issue with 911 Tech Repair was that I was told my PC would be put onto the bench that evening, and if not that evening, the next day (Saturday the 21st). I do not know if that ever happened, because a full week passed without receiving any phone calls or updates. The only way I found out the status of my computer was by calling them on Friday, May 27th to ask what was going on. He then told me that the tests were completed the morning prior (Thursday, May 26th) and that they were too busy to call me to notify me. I then stated that I wanted to speak with a manager when I came in on the following Monday, because I was out of town for the weekend. He said that would be fine. I could've picked it up on Thursday the 26th, but the technician did not inform me that it was ready, so I lost another 4 days of potential work time. He did apologize and owned his mistake in neglecting to call me. So I drove back to the store on the following Monday, only to find out that he closed the store for Memorial Day. My pc had then been at that shop for 10 days for a simple diagnostic test. I went to pick up the PC the following Tuesday (May 31st). I explained that I felt the diagnostic fee should be compensated for, due to all of the time I had lost by waiting around. He then offered to send me out with my PC at no cost. When I asked for a report on the diagnostic test, he refused to give it to me due to "unwillingness to pay for the service". I never stated or verbally disclosed an unwillingness to pay, although I did pay for the service by sacrificing the little time I had to figure out my pc's issue, and by giving 911 Tech Repair a chance. The results of the diagnostic test should have been included in the service they promised me, even though he took his own initiative to wave the fee. This failed act of customer service revealed to me the true priority of money, not customer satisfaction. Although the interactions never became emotional or hostile, I don't have confidence in recommending this business to anyone with technology issues. Not because of a lack of capabilities, but because of the lack of customer service as the main priority. Also, they charge an extra 3% on top of your bill if you want to use your credit/debit card for payment. read more

Do not bring your stuff to 911 tech repair. They can't accurately tell you when your item will be fixed or actually fix your computer at all. I was told it would be a week or less for repairs and it actually took 9 weeks. They didn't return my phone calls so I had to drive over and inquire why it was taking so long in person. They ended up charging me a $100 and told me it was just a .25 cent part but the rest was for labor and diagnosing the problem. The laptop stopped working 3 days later. He was able to replace the battery in my old iPhone 3GS, then replace it again when the new battery didn't work, then figure out why it wasn't charging properly and fixed that as well. All for the price of replacing the battery the first time. It took a while, but to be absolutely fair I told him I wasn't in a rush to get the phone back, so color me fully satisfied! read more
