I absolutely love Korean BBQ, so I was excited when I found this modern take on Korean BBQ in downtown Columbia. The drinks all looked amazing, so I asked the waitress' preference and went with the War of the Roses which i really enjoyed. My husband got her other recommendation which was a green melon drink with ice cream. We have the kimchi bulgogi nachos which were good, but a little too heavy on the kimchi for me. That was just a personal preference though. We also split the beef bulgogi udon with medium spice. It definitely had a kick. The flavor was amazing. At this point, we were full from the big portions (and had leftover), but I had to order the Hotteok with Ice Cream because it sounded incredible. It was as amazing as it sounded. 929 Kitchen & Bar is a must try if you're ever in Columbia! It's a cozy little upscale Korean restaurant located in The Vista and is ALWAYS busy and for good reason!! They don't take reservations so you really have to come at a good time to be seated immediately, but don't be discouraged if you have to wait because the food here is 100% worth the wait and they have the best prices for the portions that you get. I got the Kimchi Bulgogi Nachos as my appetizer which was a unique dish I haven't tried before! I was not disappointed at all. Definitely a solid appetizer. The meat on here is tender and juicy and the kimchi just complements everything so well. For my entree, I got the Jjambbong which is a Korean seafood noodle soup. The bowl is HUGE, only $15, and LOADED with seafood. You get octopus, squid, mussels, shrimp, and scallops. Are you kidding me, where else are you going to find a good portion of all that for just $15? The broth had the perfect punch of seafood coming through and it was just solid and had the right amount of spice to complement the perfectly cooked noodles and seafood. I wasn't able to finish this bowl and was able to turn it into 2 meals by taking some home! It was just as good reheated. I don't know what else to say to get you to try this dish, it's one of the best dishes to try from Korean cuisine. As for the cocktails here, also delicious! I got War of the Roses which has notes of grapefruit, elderflower, and rose. It's just a nice and light, refreshing drink which a perfect balance of sweetness and floral flavors to complement. The Lucky Cat is also a refreshing drink from their Spring Cocktail list that has notes of lemon, peach, and sage. All of these things together make for a perfect citrusy and fruity combo. There are so many other cocktails here that I'd love to try, their cocktail list is pretty extensive, but obviously I have to save the rest for future visits! If you want to stop by here for good food or good drinks, this place has both of those things. The interior design of this place is gorgeous and so unique. This is probably my top sit-down restaurant in Columbia and I would recommend anyone and everybody to give this place a try, you won't regret it! read more

Venue feels small- especially during the school year with university students being in town, and the waits are long sometimes but the staff is always professional and inviting! Love coming here to try the foods and drinks here. Honestly I have tried almost more than half the things on the menu and really enjoyed every dish. Nothing has disappointed me!ale sure to try a couple of the cocktails on the menu. The bartenders are all amazing here. The waiters and waitresses are also so great. Food comes out in great portions and on time! Fav dish is probably the donkatsu the fried cultlet with rice and some sides with some delicious dipping sauce. Try out the Bibimbap (hot stone rice bowl) and or the spicy pork. They do get a bit busy on the weekends so make sure to either go earlier or later so you can avoid the 1 hour waits! It is a nice size restaurant but sitting arrangements do get full. Love the interior of the restaurant too very chic and clean. Can't wait to go back again for some good Korean food eats. Parking does get a bit crazy on the weekend. So use street parking or lot parking close to it. read more

First time eating from this restaurant and very impressed! We grabbed our order to go. Nice menu selection. Located in a very nice and clean area. It has roadside parking but we had to park and walk a little bit, less than a block to get to it. Hostess was very nice and helpful. Food arrived quickly. Can I just say.... 3.5*** I appreciate Columbia having a variety of restaurants to dine out. This is a fairly new restaurant to the Cola, small nice intimate setting, clean, and nice décor! I went on a Sunday afternoon and parking was readily available on the street, good luck on any other day of the week. We were seated fairly quickly and waiters were on point the whole time. It's a tight spot so don't expect quiet conversations going on. They definitely have great customer service from the beginning to the end! Now the food, the appetizers were expensive I'm assuming because it was enough for 2 people to share. We ordered 1 meal and 2 apps, it was more than enough food for 2 people. It was a little spicy for me and salty, so I didn't enjoy as much. I will try another dish next time. I really wanted to love this place, hopefully it gets a little better. I'm not sure what I was expecting from this place but it was small and their menu options were traditional. I think I was expecting at least a medium size place with more liberal options. But, I'm here for an experience so I ordered the Mandoo and the Wok fried udon noodle (seafood). The seafood was like mussels, octopus, etc. not like your traditional shrimp. Overall the taste of the food was excellent. I would go again to try more option. A friend ordered chicken wings and stated they were plain/ unseasoned. They're a harsh critic though. read more

I really struggled between giving this place a 3 or a 4. I really wish I could do 3.5! The atmosphere is great. It's such a nice, quaint, modern, intimate place and the service was good as well. My friend and I got there around 8pm and immediately sat at the bar. I ordered the beef bulgogi bibimbap. This is where the rating is lowered for me. The meal was generally good, but I felt like there wasn't a lot of flavor in my dish (even after adding a little chili sauce). The beef was the most flavorful part and I enjoyed it, but there wasn't that much in my bowl :( I was also disappointed that it's $2 extra to get the stone bowl, shouldn't this be standard? My friend got the tofu salad and she seemed to really enjoy it. Overall, I liked my food, but wasn't wow'd by it. Because I liked the atmosphere so much I'll probably go again and try something different. I really do want to love this place! read more

As a Korean I definitely approve!! More modern than other Korean restaurants but also in a lot better location and amazing atmosphere! The decor and furniture is very nice and although it's more expensive than other Korean restaurants it's also because you are paying for the location and the quality. You're also getting so much food too so it evens out. A great date spot as well. The only downside is you have to pay for the ban Chan (side dishes like kimchi). Great place for a more modern twist on traditional Korean food while still keeping traditional dishes spot on! read more

Came here today with some friends for lunch and had a good experience. A couple friends ordered a gimbap roll to start, which was pretty good. I had never had one before, so I don't have anything else to compare it to. It tasted good, like a Korean plate of beef and rice with veggies rolled up in nori like a sushi roll. I ordered the yaki udon with SF (seafood) as my protein of choice and it was very flavorful! There were bits of octopus, squid, scallops and tiny shrimp mixed in with peppers, onions and basil. Came for a birthday dinner, and I was pleasantly surprised as I'd heard poor reviews about this restaurant. We were seated at a booth in the back, so we had a good view of the entire space. Atmosphere is quite intimate, as the space is pretty tight. Small tables line one side, and the bar lines the other. Very hip place. I tried the garlic soy Korean wings with fries and the beef udon. I liked the wings the most, which were crunchy, semi-sweet, and saucy. The fries were a hit too, crunchy and slightly battered. The udon was pretty average though, beef overcooked and udon overboiled. Overall, had a fun night and would revisit. read more

Our new favourite Korean spot in Columbia. Word has leaked out though and sometimes you just can't get a table- I hear they also do great take out if that's an option for you. Our server Kylie went above and beyond offering knowledgeable suggestions & recommendations. I ventured to a new dish on this visit and enjoyed the garlic ginger chicken almost as much as my usual beef bolgogi in a stone bowl.
