This was my first time trying out this restaurant. I had always heard they had great food, so of course, I had to try it for myself. My husband decided we should test it out today, so we ended up grabbing the food as we had a couple plans for today. My husband ordered the Reuben Sandwich. It came with Truffle Parmesan Fries. He stated the taste was very flavorful, the meat was tender, and he fell in love with the truffle fries. They didn't stand a chance! Now here comes the funny part:) I told him I wanted the Black Bean Burger without the lettuce and tomato, but instead he ordered me just the patty with cheese and mayo with no buns! Instead of him asking the correct way, he asked for it as just the patty only, haha I was too tickled to be mad. Even though he missed it, it was so good! That was the best black bean patty I had in a long time. It was well-prepared and delicious. Yes, I also have the Truffle Parmesan Fries and they tasted amazing. Hot, seasoned to perfection and irresistible! Once I saw the salmon, I had to try it. Omg, that salmon was prepared perfectly, juicy and mouth-watering. The food was on point I must say. Hubby stated customer service was amazing as well. The restaurant was well lit, had a great atmosphere and overall a great spot to dine with your friends. Solid four. Service was a bit slow at the start, but improved. Food was all good, but not something I'd crave. We did sit outside on a very hot day, so to be fair, that may have detracted from the experience. We will give this one another try though. I've been here twice and both times service has been great and food was delicious. Ive always been seated promptly since you can make reservations or call and get added to the waitlist. Theres seated my both inside and outside and the vibes are great. I've heard that their food is always great and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Though I couldn't remember what I got last time I decided to go with something totally different and try the flounder wrap which was simple but out of this world! Soooo good, and with my wrap I did the truffle fries with a side of ranch and blue cheese. Everything was a hit and our server too was great. 10/10 great find for Columbia! Thankful for another trip around the sun and this year instead of heading out of the country I celebrated in SC with family. The only downside about my born day is the close proximity to Valentine's day. Which can sometimes make the planning around the commercialized love day tricky... especially when it comes to restaurant reservations.... Womp womp. Backstreets Grill said they could accommodate a party of 8. They were clearly busy and with our party size we could understand. Nonetheless, we had a very loonnngggg wait, which was frustrating and deflating. We waited 4x the time the young ladies initially told us upon arrival. However, once we were finally seated things started to turn around slightly. I say slightly because we were seated on the enclosed patio, with a portable heater but several people were cold. Just to think they kept asking us and others if we wanted to sit outside. (It's February @ night). Now the food: Some of the dishes were more favorable than others and I must admit all of my personal choices were great. Appetizers: -Mussels - White Wine (My Order) -Fried Oysters (I tried) -Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna -Lump Crab Dip (I tried) -Tomato Parmesan Soup (My Order) -Side House & Caesar Salads (I tried) I personally had the Mussels, which were perfect, and the tomato parmesan soup and both made you want to lick the bowl. The broths were so good. I tried the fried oysters, they were also very good, but the presentation was a little messy. The Lump Crab Dip and the Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna completely fell short and were not memorable at all and both of the side salads were sad. Entrées: -Cajun Chicken Pasta w/ Blackened Shrimp (My order) -Buffalo Chicken Pizza (I tried) -House-made Meatloaf w/ mashed potatoes & vegetables -Pork-chop w/ mashed potatoes & green beans -Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadilla w/ Fries -Ribeye w/ Truffle Parmesan Fries My sister and I both ordered the Cajun Chicken pasta, I added the blackened shrimp to my order, we were both extremely happy. The dish was not spicy but it was well balanced. The recipients of the Meatloaf, Buffalo Chicken Pizza and the Quesadilla were all also pleased with their dishes. The folks that ordered the ribeye and the two pork-chops were not impressed... the dishes were just ok. Our server Adrian, was pleasant, but you can tell he was very overwhelmed which sometimes didn't translate well. As the night went on we understood he was being pulled in multiple directions at once and he did good despite of it. Overall I enjoyed my celebration and experience @ Backstreets Grill. We stopped in, and you should too. After a bit of a slow start due to their staffing issues, our waitress was personable and attentive. The menu has great choices that I haven't seen elsewhere. I ordered chicken salad in a bread bowl, and it was really delicious. The bowl is topped with cheese and popped in the over, so it arrives hot. The bread bowl had a wonderfully crispy crust and tender inside, and the chicken salad was warm and tasty. I've had soup bread bowls, but not hot and crispy, and of course, not chicken salad. The sides menu is a long list; I chose onion rings. They were plentiful, crunchy, and very flavorful - as far from the heavily breaded limp onion rings most places serve as you could get. We had 8 members from our lunch group here today for lunch. Great service...waitress set up a high table for eight and took our drinks quickly. We had three orders for the Madarin Chicken Salad, two pizzas, a prime rib sandwich, a hamburger, and a chicken wrap. Also had a side order of the truffle parmesan fries. The fries were great and everyone liked them. The Mandarin Chicken Salad was also very good, loaded with mandarin oranges, crisp lettuce, nuts and tons of other goodies. The salad dressing was fabulous. All three of us liked it. Pizzas were great and so was the hamburger and wrap. All in all it was one of our top rated lunches this year. Went for lunch on Father's Day. It was busy but not overwhelming. It was just my son and I so we had a very little wait time to be seated. Food was good as usual. Went with the burgers and wings. I wish the wings would have came out sooner than the burgers but not a huge deal. My son loved the Mac n cheese I tried it and was good. Creamy and cheesy! We for lunch meeting, food and service were great! Want to go back since there was some interesting options I wasn't able to try this time. We started with the loaded nachos and they were a hit, they did not skimp on the meat or the cheese, each chip had a topping. The wraps were on the lighter side could have had more filling, but tasted good. The fries were basic not a fav, but the onion rings were awesome. The chicken pot pie soup was delicious. So thankful for a covered dog friendly patio on a chilly and rainy day! The host was so nice to our pup, he immediately brought her out a bowl of water and a cup of whipped cream with treats! Love the patio, I would sit out there even if we hadn't brought our dog. The patio is covered, has heaters for when it's cool out and on a Saturday all of the TVs were playing college football. The steak is incredible here and the main reason we came for dinner. Portion sizes are amazing, you get two sides plus a soup or salad with the sirloin. The steak was perfectly cooked and I really liked both the chicken florentine and beef chili soup options. Plenty of free street parking. I have learned since moving to South Carolina that there are very few dining options available on a Sunday for brunch. If you do find anything, be prepared to wait excessively. Today we drove to Columbia, and as usual massive crowds upon entering. What was different what was how it was handled.One staff member took our drink order while our server was tied up. She was adorable, her name was Tamara.. Our server , Jacob, was so sweet and apologized for making us wait. He made great suggestions on entrees especially the Cajun pasta. My wife and I went here for lunch Friday with two other couples. Sat on the front left sunroom as you enter the restaurant. Service was great and immediately took our orders. I must say the air conditioner was working great, as I thought the room temperature was excellent..but two of our group thought it was too cold!! One of them asked the waitress if she could turn of the mini-splits and she said she'd asked before and the answer was always no. I thought it was fine...but maybe they could've changed it a bit. Regardless, we ordered our meals. Had two orders of the Cuban sandwiches with side spinach and a side Caesar salad, one order of the Reuben Sandwich with side spinach salad, one bowl of Texas Bean soup with a side salad, on Chicken dish that was excellent along with a side salad, and one other sandwich. The salads were great...both the spinach and Caesar. The bean soup really looked good, with some hammock pieces in it. Stopped here for the first time to meet a friend for lunch. Got here right when they opened, staff were immediately friendly and welcoming as I headed to the bar. The interior is a nice, comfy design featuring a nice modern look with gamecock memorabilia as decorations. Our bartender was awesome, friendly and very helpful in recommending food for first timers. She recommended the sesame crusted ahi on top of the kale salad for me, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Bright flavors with the bitterness of kale, and the fresh flavors of ahi made the salad a solid 9/10 for me. My counterpart got the chicken wrap and had the chicken tossed in honey sriracha, which was outstanding as well. My food was ready within the 10-15 minute window between the time I called and the time I arrived.  I will say that they are so wrong for serving someone these extra brown chicken tenders. We went there yesterday for my niece graduation 5/19/2026. I ordered a Bruschetta Pizza, and it was absolutely delicious. My daughter ordered the meat lovers pizza and neither one disappointed. My other kids ordered burgers and tenders they didn't have any complaints with their meal. However, that Bruschetta pizza oh yeah, I will def be coming back for that. What a great place! Heading to Columbia from Charlotte we needed to find food as soon as we got to the area as we hadn't ate practically all day. Looking through reviews we found the pictures to be stunning and worth drooling over! We got sat immediately. Our server was Chandler and she was as attentive and cute as a southern button! Saw great reviews for Backstreets Grill so we decided to check it out. We went on a Saturday night. It was pretty busy, but we were still able to get sat right away on the outside patio. The patio has a large screen. A lot of people were there to watch the game. Our server was outstanding. Very attentive and friendly. I ordered a cocktail and the tuna steak sandwich. Another new place to try while traveling for work! They were a little busy during lunch time, but we were able to grab a seat right away and place our food order within minutes. I'm so happy we chose where we did! Our outside bartender, T'mya, was the absolute best! I've always enjoyed being able to sit at the bar, even if it is just for food like today. Having great conversation with a great bartender is always a plus. T'mya was a great conversationalist, attentive, and on point with her service. For the food we got the Bison Burger with truffle fries. The food was good, but I felt like the burger could have had some more flavor. The meat didn't really have that much taste, unfortunately. I was hoping for a more grand experience from the taste of the food to the service. However, our experience was subpar. We order from burgers to fries to full rack of ribs to coleslaw and salad. The taste were ok. The ribs was tender but sort of on the dry side and didn't have a lot of taste as we were expecting. The place was spacious and the waiter was somewhat attentive.
