Started with parent and tot and now they're on their own in a group setting. They've been advancing appropriately and it's been a great experience. Prices are sign up are easy to find on the website. The facility, locker rooms, restrooms, showers all top notch. Lifeguards are always on top of things. Swimming trainers are great, give updates at the end of every class of how our children are doing. I don't remember all their names but Alyx has been amazing every time she has been a teacher for our child. They're patient and kind and make our kids as comfortable as possible. Highly recommended.

Large open spaces, basketball court, restrooms, pavilions for rent, cool playgrounds, a spray-ground, paved parking lots, and it connects to the Bear Creek trail system making it great for hiking. Most recently we've rented pavilion for children's birthday parties. Easy process. Electric available. Plenty of room for everyone to spread out and enjoy time outdoors - no matter what your age is.

You can also rent a pavilion here for parties or gatherings (affordable!), and it includes electricity, covered picnic tables, and close bathroom access. Speaking of bathrooms, and I know park bathrooms can be scary, these ones really are pretty clean! Parr Park is big and clean and lush and green. It's connected to the Bear Creek trails, so there really is a lot of nature to explore. There are almost always people around so it's never too quiet, but it's still big and forest-y enough that you could feel a little bit lost in the wild, if you wanted to (I do).

It was peaceful watching the birds and sitting by the water. The kids enjoyed lots of space to run and play. It was the perfect evening to be here as a gentle breeze cooled the heat of the day. This is a very suburban paved trail. The trail itself is well maintained. It's wide enough for…read morebikers and walkers to share and when we went, the grass on either side of the trail was recently mowed. There are a few areas where the trail crosses over the creek and in these places we did see a good amount of trash (come on, people!) but those were the only areas looking anything short of pristine. You could probably walk this entire trail in one day, but having kids who like to stop and explore every 10 feet, we split the walk over two days, the first day walking from the trailhead at the fire station off Davis to Smithfield Rd. and the second day covering Smithfield to Creekridge Dr., which is about where the John Barfield trail ends and the Little Bear Creek trail begins. We did not explore the trail East of Davis Blvd. so I cannot comment on that. From the starting point of the fire station, heading west, the trail is bordered by foliage on one side and houses on the other. There are large power lines lining the trail. It might as well be a walk down a neighborhood sidewalk. West of Smithfield, the trail does escape the housing developments for a bit and is lined by dense trees on either side. It offers very little shade, but it nevertheless a pretty walk. If it had been that way the for the entire trail, I would have given John Barfield 4 stars, but the other portions of the trail are just too suburban and sterile. It's a place to exercise, but frankly, this is no nature walk. This trail is a great feature for those who live within walking distance, but others will likely not find it to be worth the drive. FYI: the google app on my iPhone led us to a neighborhood near the trail off Davis. The correct location for the main trailhead (which is actually in the center of the trail) is at the fire station at Davis and Shadywood Ln.

So in Keller, North Richland Hills, Hurst, Colleyville, Grapevine, Southlake and Fort Worth there's…read morea pretty good network of trails. These trails are typically wide sidewalks, suitable for walking, running or cycling. While I'm fond of the Keller trails, they lack (peaceful) connectivity to the larger system of trails in Tarrant Co. I say peaceful, because while Rufe Snow Blvd has a wide sidewalk that can get you to the John Barfield Trail, it's not the most pleasant of of routes (I take Cat Mountain to North Tarrant Pky to get off Rufe Snow). That being said, once you get on the trail (you can pick it up near Rufe Snow and North Tarrant Pky (or near Keller-Smithfied Rd and North Tarrant Pky if you use the Cat Mtn bypass) it is quite peaceful. On the Barnfield Trail you can walk or ride, in relative peace, (almost) all the way to Grapevine (via the Cottonbelt) if you choose. On this day, I did. I started my walk on the John Barfield Trail, just south of North Tarrant Pky near Keller-Smithfield Rd. Very peaceful place to walk. A little lacking on facilities (water/restrooms), but those can be found further along the trail (Pleasant Run Soccer Complex in Colleyville) or at businesses near the trail. Do bring water though, as it's easier than detouring off the trail. The trail winds through neighborhoods, eventually ending up at the Cotton Belt trail (near Precinct Line Rd). From here, you can get all the way to Grapevine, but the trail peters out at Highway 26 (Coleyville Blvd). If there's a good trail into Grapevine (from here), I have yet to discover it. This is a great park. The playground is new and fun, with features kids love - like a zip line and…read moresitting merry go round. It's plenty big, with a baby section and a big kid section. There are swings, multiple slides, and an assortment of bridges and ropes to climb on. The best part are the expansive shade canopies, which cover the majority of the structure and allow for play in both sun and rain (although, on a rainy morning like this morning, they don't prevent the kids from getting wet or the structure from being slippery. But hey, this just adds to the fun!). Bark ground covering. The one downside here is that the spectator benches are outside of the canopy, away from any trees, and in full sun. I'm thankful they covered the play area, but why no love for the mamas on the sidelines? Not far from the playground there is a large pavilion and multiple covered picnic tables. They aren't right next to the playground like the benches are, but they're close enough to still be within earshot of the kids. It's a fine solution for hot, sunny days. The park also has volleyball courts, baseball fields, and a nice bathroom with plenty of stalls.

He also said it has just been completed and since not many people know it's ready it isn't as crowded as White's Branch Park. There is a tennis court, baseball field, basketball court, play equipment and splash pad (open Memorial Day to Labor Day, everyday except Wednesday starting at 10am). My kiddo was so excited to play today and no one else was here, so fun. I know by writing this review it'll attract more kids but that's okay, there's plenty of room for everyone to enjoy this space :)

Probably the best all around park in Haltom City (from what I can tell)…read more Excellent playground area, several baseball fields (in pretty good condition), a tennis court, pavilion, a roller hockey court (and probably the only one for a while) a couple of make-shift football fields, and a splash park during the summer. Plus, it's located next to the Haltom City Rec Center so you have access to indoor basketball courts (though I'm not sure if you have to be a resident to use them). This park is almost perfect, till you see some areas that were either abandoned projects or vandalized equipment. But overall, the rest of the park is great.
