I was recently solo traveling in Bar Harbor and was just not in the mood for another lobster roll…read more Italian food sounded really good this particular evening, and Porcelli's just happened to be right next door to my hotel. Score! I made a reservation for one but that wasn't really necessary on this particular Sunday evening in September. There were several patrons but it wasn't overly busy. I was given a four-top table which I was grateful for so I could spread out my Acadia maps and plan out my next few days. (It's a bit dark in the restaurant but I wasn't going to be *that* person and pull out my flashlight...) I ordered myself a glass of red wine, focaccia bread, and decided on the lobster tortellini appetizer, despite avoiding lobster, as already mentioned. My waitress let me know I could increase the number of tortellini so that it would be entree size. It was so amazing! The sauce was a sun-dried tomato sauce which was a great complement. The portion size was just was I was looking for. I can now attest lobster tortellini is better than lobster rolls. Great restaurant in Bar Harbor on Main Street! I look forward to coming back next time I am in Maine.

Very cute place a ways south on main in Bar Harbor…read more Authentic Italian and everything was great. Meatballs were very tender...veal? Caesar had an unusual column presentation wrapped in jicama. Lightly dressed and didn't need it. Focaccia was epic and the olive oil was meaty. Osso bucco was a little dry but the sauce and polenta with it was amazing. Bolognas was amazing Fun, classic Italian interior with music that put me back in the godfather. Service was good. Go.

The male server we had was very pleasant and on top of everything. Overall, the food was fabulous. Everything we had was vegan. To start we had the polenta fries which were good but needed salt and there was no salt at the table so that was a minus. I had the gnocchi with tofu, it was a generous portion with a nice presentation and the flavor came out beautifully once I got some salt on it. I really savored every bite of this meal. The side piece of bread was not served with any olive oil or vegan butter so that was a little disappointing. My partner had the vegan bean burger and he liked the flavor but it was very messy for him and he had a bit of trouble eating it neatly which made him not love his as much as I loved my plate. The fresh cut fries on the side of his plate were nice. To drink we both had a couple of utopia daiquiris, they were delicious and strong. Top notch. I took home the baklava (made with agave, not honey) and honestly it was the best I've ever had. It had a very nice salted caramel profile to it so I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great options for vegans on a date or just a nice comfortable meal for any occasion.

We spoke about the 5 year restaurant ownership and how it's really a "farm-to-table concept". Tonight's special appetizer was a Zucchini and chick pea flower dumpling/fritter which was delicious. Frank Sinatra background music gave the restaurant a cool retro vibe.

We started with the mussels and two of the house salads and they were both delicious. Our waitress was very helpful in helping us narrow down what we wanted to eat. The sauce with the mussels was so good. We all go the same pasta dish- house made white wine and mushroom sauce which was incredible. The star of the show was their chocolate mousse which was some of the best we have had in a long time!

We had the place to ourselves for the first hour or so very quaint and we had the pick of a table. The server was superb with her knowledge and suggestions on what to try. We had a bottle of wine "Nebbiolo" which was so good and our meals (pork w/mushrooms) & Bolognese with all fresh ingredients. The only thing we did notice was the amount of food served on very large plates. Could have had a bit more of everything just saying. Also complimented the Chef throughout to the server and she said he loves to hear people's compliments but when leaving and he just barely acknowledged our compliments. Maybe he was tired but how often do you get a chance to compliment someone especially "The Chef" on their expert cooking. Anyway would we come back in the future but it does have a limited menu so best to check before making any plans.
