At first the place looked great - except for the lump of plants in a disarray -I'd remove them -- and food seemed fine - some stuff. Wait staff flying thru and bringing dishes minutes after forcing parties to wait to eat. Winter time - icy parking lot - HUGE big truck at doorway - No handicapped was available. Decided to try again - again food straggles out - the prices went up as well - the salad they give for a $25 plate of food is served in a child kitchen dishes set - am I wrong?--- (also went up a $30) Smart TV playing all the magnificent journey the owner went on. Here is a poor town with many people desperately trying to make ends meet. 1. Most can't afford this prices- $30 -requires a real full dish salad - 2. Most people want to be able to enjoy all eateries, fairs, parades, festivals, ice cream stands, food stands instead of running to local bodega for a piece of beef jersey and a beer. 3. The ready made food is ok sometimes but I'd love to have a porterhouse and king crab legs too - and choose to order -- not just what is made for the day. We tried the burrito- they add potatoes- no one ever adds potatoes- and they won't take the out. White potato is inflammatory- can't eat it. Was hoping breakfast items had more Gluten free variety & dairy alternatives: goat milk - lots of goat farms around - all sell goat milk in supermarkets- I checked I think this area suffers enough and everyone should experience a meal in any eatery in Dover Foxcroft- You all represent businesses in the area and the communities people pay your bill(s). I'd love to see more accommodating prices - open every day so ALL MAINERS can find a seat at your establishment. MAke affordable meals as well as your expensive ones ---People should choose. DId you say cake? can you cut a real normal piece? this is not NYC- only place ever served so ski skimpy like yours ---was at Tavern on The Green--NYC Other things distracting- owners sitting with "special or favorite" Again- small town - Owners-Chef should greet and hear compliments from all patrons. All patrons should be able to give constructive criticism on what they are served. I can critique as we had a very successful restaurant and a grocery store. Being part of community- store owners have an obligation to uphold certain business ethics as they enrich the community and the community looks at you and how you handle your staff and your store. We hope to see and hear changes so all people who expressed the issues at your store can walk in and have dinner without breaking the bank or robbing money from Little Lucia's piggy bank. Owners need to take a business class and do a S.W.O.T. analysis on themselves and their place of business and serve the community better! That was absolutely fantastic. We've gone the past three mornings since we've been in town. Stopped in for lunch one day and The Mill turkey stack on sourdough is absolutely wonderful the following evening my wife and I decided to go for dinner. The dinner was delicious, If you would like to make it a truly memorable night I highly recommend The Mill Café not only is the decor wonderful, the staff is genuinely amazing, Aaliyah was wonderful. My wife and I went for dinner. The staff is so nice and welcoming. We were seated and were attended to right away. The place itself is decorated so beautifully. I recommend calling ahead to reserve a table overlooking the dam. Their Menu is limited to a few entrées that can be viewed online. We ordered the Chicken Parm with pasta, and the Pork Chop with Mash. The entrées came an order of Naan bread and side salads. The Naan bread was so good. It was sweet and savory. As if it had honey and butter. Chicken parm had a crispy breading and the chicken itself, was so juicy. The pasta was cooked to perfection. The Pork Chop was succulent. It had a nice sear to it with a glaze and bites of sea salt chunks. Yummy! The mashed potato were whipped with bacon and cheddar. Loved the flavor. Everything was Delicious. We loved it! read more

Worst service ever! Yes it was father's day but they had four waitstaff. The whole set up is goofy.......it's like a clam shack or ice cream place where you pay first and then they bring the food to you. Tipping is done prior to any service.......very different and strange. We waited outside for 40 minutes for a Haddock sandwich and Chicken Quesadilla ..........after 40 minutes we had to call it a day and ask for our money back. We didn't even get the Mimosa comped! Very sad because we were looking for something more up scale than the Bears Den restaurant. This part of Maine needs a place to support the vacation folks......this place isn't it! read more

This is a nice cafe. (How is that for a saccharine, vague assessment?). I wanted to like the experience more than I did, because it had a bucketload of atmosphere, a friendly server and some locally sourced ingredients. But it is really pricy, not shocking for a hotel restaurant (well, they say it is an inn) but still a surprise even in this endemic time of increased prices. Four of us went for breakfast. If we went again, I would park on the street, as spaces were available and it was quite a hike from the rear lot for my wife with her walker (we really need to get that handicap placard). It is located next to that long mill building and is a one way access driveway. When you go inside, like a few other places we have gone to, you order and pay at the counter and they bring the meal to you. But you pour your own coffee from carafes at the front (unless you have decaf, in which case they brew it on their fancy-schmancy Italian coffee maker. Because our companions weren't crazy about their selections and the fourth person was my wife, I got to sample everything that was ordered. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito, because I make better scrambled eggs and omelets than most restaurants, and it was fine, though not memorable. It is weird to me to have a burrito with potato in it, but no complaints. My wife had the Belgian waffle, also okay, but stingy perhaps for $8. My burrito was $10.50 and came with fruit (three moon drop grapes and a strawberry) and a mini tomato. I paid extra for sour cream and they oddly dumped it on the cut-up tomato. It also comes with a little salsa. I expected the burrito to be rounded and tightly wrapped but it was a folded wrap and loose. It was okay but mildly disappointing also. A companion had toast with avocado spread on it. She expected it to be warm and it wasn't, though when I sampled it I thought it was fine cold as it was still crisp. That seemed a little overpriced also. The coffee was $3, with the option of free refills, of course. You pour your own as I mentioned, and add In the In the Raw sweetener and half and half up front and carry it to your table. It won't be one of our go-to places, but I won't purposely avoid it either. I would like to try them for lunch -- perhaps next spring so we can use their outdoor seating. read more

If you're looking for a local, cozy cafe to have breakfast or grab a quick coffee, look no further! While visiting Maine I was able to go three times. Baked goods were always readily available. The pancakes were delicious and fluffy, and the coffee was excellent every time. Enjoy the Mill inside where there's plenty of seating/tables and big comfortable chairs, or outside on the shaded patio that overlooks Piscataquis River. Beautiful and stylish establishment, relaxing atmosphere, and friendly baristas. The Mill is everything, and I wish I could transport it to my hometown! read more

We had dinner at The Mill on Saturday Oct 4th 2025. Two of us had the ribs/Mac and cheese/coleslaw platter and one had the beef and mushroom gravy with mashed potatoes. Both were delicious. The house salad was very nice with a house vinaigrette. For dessert, we were served a pumpkin cake with cream cheese. That ended up being a take home as we were all full. We also each had a glass of wine. We felt that the red pour was much larger than the person who got the Pinot Grigio (did she get the end of a bottle? did the server leave room for the requested side of ice?) needless to say, the Pinot Grigio patron wasn't happy. My biggest criticism of the Mill is the timing of the meal. We sat down with an appetizer of Naan and hummus already on the table. We ordered wine, which took a bit of time to get, and no sooner than we had a bit of the Naan, the salads arrived. Then our wine. We were just done with our salad and the entrees were brought to the table. One person was still eating their rib plate when the desserts were placed in front of us. No one asked if we wanted a 2nd glass of wine and no coffee service was offered. The entire meal was served so quickly with NO time in between courses. They were not waiting for our table for another party, there was no reason for such a rush. I'd suggest they slow down, this isn't a "fast food restaurant" and people would like to take a breath between courses. and please, don't serve a course until everyone is finished with what came before. The owner was very pleasant as he visited with all the tables, so it seems he is on board with the rapid food delivery. I think it's the one downfall of The Mill. read more

What a treat for coffee and good eats. We were in town for a wedding. Stayed right in town at an airbnb. We found this place right on the river with such a great warm ambience. Not going to lie, but we had nearly every meal there. The lattes and matcha were delicious. Breakfast was delicious as well. From what Brenda the owner shared it's all from scratch. We were in town right at the peek of blueberry harvest and the blueberry pancakes were delicious. With having such great service comes a little longer than normal wait but why would you even care when you're sitting outside on a late summer day enjoying the beautiful river and all the flowers that surround you. It's just comfortable and relaxing. The place was well decorated as well. Love the vintage crystal chandeliers and great art pieces on the walls inside displaying local artist. Just a gem. This place is the heart of the town in my opinion. We were warmly welcomed. The staff and owner are truly nice people. It was my happy place. Sit by the riverside window and fall into a trance watching the water flow over the dam. I had the Cuban today. I was the only one here but service was quick and the staff were extremely friendly. My wife and I had an enjoyable dinner at the Mill Café restaurant in Dover- Foxcroft. She had the steak salad and I had the lobster roll with a large pile of crisp onion rings. The lobster roll was so full that I had a challenge keeping all the lobster contained. I ate breakfast at the Mill Cafe. It had perfect coffee, wonderful ambience, views to die for, and so-so pastries. Over threee days I was disappointed by the toasted bagel, croissant and danish. Each were sub-par for this west- coast boy. Consider: the bagel was inadequaltey toaasted and also loaded with melted butter, even though it came with cream cheese that I was planning to use. Not sure why I needed an extra dose of fat -- maybe it was to build up a layer of blubber to make it through those harsh Maine winters. read more

Food was great but it took almost an hour waiting to get the food. This little cafe was pretty cool. The building had a neat ambience and the food was not too shabby. It was a little slow, especially when initially ordering, because we had to wait for the waitress to make other peoples' drinks before she was able to take our order. However, it was not overly expensive, which was a plus after eating at several expensive restaurants in Bar Harbor. I had the tomato mozzarella flatbread, which was pretty good...only wish it had been bigger. The tomatoes were very tasty and it was served on naan bread...yum! My family all had different sandwiches, which they thought were good as well but maybe not as good as the flatbread. I would be intrigued to try some of their coffee, and would definitely recommend the flatbread. If I lived here I'd probably be a regular! read more

Great new spot that opened less than a few years back in the converted old mill building. The concept is open with plenty of windows to draw in the natural daylight and it really brightens the entire room up. Big cozy space. Surprisingly large menu with delicious cold brew coffee. Had a lovely lunch today at the Mill Cafe! Service was prompt, cheerful and very helpful explaining different options. The food was very tasty. I had butternut squash soup and a chicken ceasar salad. I was with my mom and she had the dam good sandwich which was grilled and had bacon, Apple slices, Asiago, provolone and honey mustard (I tried a bite and it was delish) as well as soup. Deserts were tasty, and my cappuccino was very nice. I thought that the atmosphere was fresh and modern feeling, and I will be back for sure because there were several other things here that I am anxious to try! read more

It may be a speciality because the special was pork tacos. Kathryn had a Cranberry Walnut Chicken Salad wrap. She took half home. I finished mine. Place have a post industrial vibe and free Wi-Fi.
