I stopped in the local "99 Cents Only Store" on Foothill Blvd AKA "Route 66", and I had a great shopping experience ! Some lady brought her dog in store and it had a bad blow out of Poo like it ate chocolate for breakfast The owner ran around all frantically opening 8 packs of toilet paper saying this won't work She was upsetting her dog Then she rips open a 6 pack of paper towels Finally an employee came out with a mop When did it because OK to bring dogs in stores ? I heard how nice this place was. It wasn't nice at all. I rarely go into 99cent stores because I've only been in 1 that was fairly decent. The minute I walked in today it smelt like everyone in the store collectively forgot to shower for a week. I seriously almost turned around and walked out it was that bad. This store was a huge mess. Not a single aisle I walked through appeared to be organized. I did grab a couple of cute Christmas gift bags, wrapping paper, a strand of lights and two candle lights that were NOT 99cents. No they were $3.99. In addition they were selling several toys that were priced as normal toys sold at Target or Amazon. The gift bag section mostly everything was strewn across the bottom rack instead of being placed properly on the hangers. It was hard to go through, so I pretty much gave up. When I got in line there were only 2 check stands open. My line had 13 people in it.The other line went down one of the aisles and I lost count at 14. Ridiculous. There were so many employees roaming around stocking that they could have helped. After multiple complaints they opened up another check stand. It still took forever to get out of there. I would definitely not waste my time here. The hassle, the mess and the time is not worth it! Thee cleanest and most well organized 99 Cents Store I've ever visited. I don't remember ever dealing with a rude cashier or employee since their new manager took over. They should have the store manager at this location go and train other stores on how to treat their staff, do the layout in their stores, keep the store clean and the employee morale high! I've been meaning to write this for well over 6 months. In any case the 99 Cent store is no longer a 99 cent store as most items are $1.29 or higher with some still 99 cents. It seems they failed to tell us the consumer like dollar tree told us they were raising prices to $1.25. There are some items still marked 99 cents but when you get to the register it rings up at $2.99++ I have had to start taking pictures to show the cashier because if it says 99 then 99 is what I will pay. This is just an FYI for I'm sure my fellow consumers know prices have increased. Time to change the name don't you think?!?!?! read more

I started to like coming to this store aside from Dollar Tree because of the selections they have. It has party supplies to market choices. Even though the store is called 99 Cents Only store, not everything in there is 99 Cents like how Dollar Tree is. I was able to find some great stuff here to put together a Coffee / Hot Chocolate Gift Basket. I like that I was able to put all that stuff together within my tight budget and found majority of the stuff here. Some stuff were slightly cheaper than the market like Starbucks drinks, but it really helps. Just make sure what you buy aren't expired or going to expire too soon. I definitely will come here again so I can make some more great upcoming Christmas Gifts for friends and family. read more

The management style and customer service has extremely changed for the better since the last time I came here in 2017. My husband used to work at In-N-Out and I at Best Buy, so we recognize conscious management decisions to put customer experience first. I was impressed by the attention to detail from the friendly cart cleaner who said hi and bye. EVERY worker I passed by asked if I needed help finding something, and the cashier was calm and casual. I've been to all the 99 cent stores from Rancho, Ontario, Chino, and San Bernadino. kids are going into the store on foothill Boulevard in Upland and stealing alcohol fairly easy because it's in the back of the store. I don't believe you have cameras and I know there's no security person on guard there but if anything should happen to these kids from the alcohol that they're taking from your store I would think that you would be responsible so I would suggest that you put some cameras out there a security guard, or perhaps move the alcohol to the front of the store where the people that are cashiering are able to keep an ion it because the kids are stealing the alcohol from your store, and these are young teenagers note young teenagers are stealing alcohol from this 99 Cents store do something about it read more

This is your run of the mill 99 Cent Only store which in and of itself is incredible!!! Man anything you need! I can make a 4 course meal, decorate my classroom or buy goodies to bribe my students with! I turn to 99 cent store all the time and it always comes to my rescue...if you've never had the pleasure of coming to a store I'd recommend this one! When I walked in this store looked beautiful. Store was well stocked and very clean. It had some different things that my store did not have. I went up front and asked about their restrooms and was it open. She pointed to the back and said it was open. It was locked . So I went and found a manager. He was tall and black and told someone to open the restroom for me. He told her to check to see something about the water and she said I could not use the restroom . I'm disabled and a senior and why did it take so long to find out they didn't have a working restroom? I went to pay for my items with the girl who showed me where to go for the restroom and I told her , I wish she would have told me it was out of order. I said I will never return to this store again, ever. read more

Every time I want to feel like an heiress of some rich family member... I come here to shop. It is clean, well organized, big, and wonderfully cheap... er, low priced. The most amazing thing about this place is that the service is usually better than at the much more expensive department/grocery stores. Inflation BLOWS. $ 3.65 for a gallon of gas BLOWS. $ 6.99 for a gallon of organic 1% milk BLOWS. No more double coupons at most grocery stores BLOWS. So, everytime I shop here I feel like I am giving the proverbial middle finger to 'the man'. This location as does most locations has produce...mostly name brand produce that is generally 3-4 times as expensive in the conventional grocery stores. I have found organic canned food here, organic produce and a variety of name brand products that I generally spend more money on elsewhere. There are other items that are not name brand that I have purchased and I have not been disappointed. If you are like I am, trying to feed a family on an ever tightening budget....this should help take the edge off the sting at the grocery market....and well, also sticks it to the corporate a-holes who run this country. Today I went to this 99 store and I had to tell the female manager that she and other employees where not following protocol for wearing mask. She had hers completely down under her chin other employees didn't have there nose covered. If you are asking customers to wear mask then your employees need to wear them correctly. I have been coming here for years now and I recently went in and bought like 60 dollars of stuff but It wasn't too many stuff so I checked my receipt and I had been charged twice for 3 things and it just made me very angry. The cashier kept talking to us and made my fiance go across the store to find the price of somethin (which was her job) and this was while I was looking at things on the wall and I thought that was sketchy but didn't think of it much because it's the dollar idk. I'm not sure if she does this to people who have a decent amount of things so that it is easier to hide or what. But my fiance is over there trying to get the money that was taken from us. You should all double check your receipts and make sure there were no extra charges or anything always. I'm angry because I dont know if this has happened already when I trusted the cashiers. I'm usually very paranoid because it has happened to me before but now. I am for sure going to be extra paranoid because this is not cool. They should be checking on their cashiers. We shouldnt have to be checking our receipts to see if we're being charged for something we didnt get twice. I was able to get the unnecessary charges off and I do enjoy shopping here. An employee shouldnt affect that so I'll be indifferent in the rating. read more

My kids and I LOVE going to this 99 cent store!! I love the deals they always have. I buy a ton of different stuff here: dog and cat food, school supplies, snacks, plants, and produce to name a few. I love they started selling fruits and vegetables and the quality is pretty good. You can't beat their price, for sure. I'd only been to this 99 Cents Only Store until this weekend when I visited one near Marina del Rey. This place is a spotless, wide open, paradise compared to its cousin! It has everything where it's supposed to be (ie, on shelves and not on the ground) and there are people working in the aisles who actually know where things are. The best part of shopping here is that their inventory changes weekly. Some weeks you'll find legit Gatorade for 79 cents, other weeks you'll find name-brand toilet paper. Just be open and try to come in the morning on weekdays, otherwise you're in for a long wait and feisty crowds. read more

This store is ridiculous I went shopping and because they do not know how to check bills correctly they wouldn't except my bill. My bill had security strip, raised textures, silhouette of our president and all the colors were correct. They ran it with the security marker and said it wasn't the right color of yellow. I don't like that they are now starting to sell products that are over 99 cents and it can be annoying and confusing when you think it's .99 to find out its $1.99. Thought this was the 99 cent ONLY store. Employees are not friendly,I feel like I can't even ask them any questions or act busy. I was very disappointed with this store! First of all, its dirty! I was staying at a friend's & needed something that would normally be carried at the 99 cent store by my house. They didn't have it. No big deal. I went ahead and grabbed a few other things I needed & went to check out. While checking out, the clerk was paying more attention to the managers conversation on the phone then to what she was doing with me. 2 of the items rang up at 2.99!! I didn't catch it at first because at my home store, if something is more than 99 cents they let you know. I paid the amount, walked to the front door looking at my receipt. Turned back & told them I didn't want the items because they weren't 99 cents. They refused to give me a refund, only a gift card. I told the manager that I didn't think that was fair as I never left the store, and was under the impression it was 99 cents. Had the clerk been paying attention to what she was doing & told me the item was not 99 cents, I would not have had her ring the items up! She said that they don't tell you at that store when things are over 99 cents because that's rude. WHAT!?!? How is that rude??? To me, it's rude letting a customer think they are buying something for 99 cents, and then refusing a refund when they catch the misrepresentation!!!
