Please be advised for the scam and theft from this location UPlAND they tell customers if they want their receipt or not and if you choose not to have your receipt and even though you have your card charged for it and you represent that as a proof of purchase they would still deny your return, it wasn't even food purchase was a zepper for flies worth $ 6 dollars and change i brought it back the same day to return it cause it was not working the manager they told me his name Mikea refused to refund it claiming I have to have the actual original receipt when I have a proof of purchase on my phone app wallet. I'm a bit shocked to see only 3 stars for this location. I'd give it 4.5 stars but that's not an option. I've been coming to this GO for years and can almost always find one or more products that are a killer deal. Produce for me is hit or miss--sometimes it looks great, sometimes not, but that's true for supermarkets too. I have seen good deals here during the holidays. Good place to get wine. I've purchased tasty bell peppers too. Today however, they didn't honor an online price for water, decided to shop elsewhere due to this. As I entered I was surprised to see it so dirty. We went today Nov. 11 2021 at 7:30pm to the Aldi on Mountain Ave ontario Ca to bye some food and the price's were higer then a week algo and then when we went to the check outline the girl in the register 2 was not professional and didn't know how to treat customer. Some one needs to trian her again in costumer service in wish the costumers is always right. She won't have a pay check if it wasn't for the costumers. I appreciate their quick reply, and my respect for their store has been restored. I'm sorry that it had to come to me writing a scathing review to bring this issue up, but sometimes things have to be brought to light for others to clearly see before they can be repaired. I really liked this store, but today I had a really bad experience at the Hollister CA store. I bought my regular items such as bananas, yogurt and some salad dressing, and then I went down the cookie aisle and I found a recently stocked shelf full of Mom's Best granola, which had four recently printed signs, clearly indicating that each 12 oz and 13 oz bags were 99 cents. There were almost a hundred bags of the mom's best granola ready to be purchased, but they are usually double the price. I've gotten them for $0.99 before, so I wasn't very surprised that the sale was back. Please note, This price could not have been a mistake, this shelf had recently been stocked and the stickers that are printed are carefully controlled, everything is computerized, it is not something that an employee arbitrarily types into a machine and prints out. I took 100 bags of the granola to check out and proceeded to buy them. the manager told me that the bags are ringing up at $1.99 and they would only be allowed to sell me two bags at the 99 cent error price. I contested this because the tags on the shelf were printed four times!! and were very clear, the dates were correct and the items were the same as the ones on the tag. there was NO mistake. They would not let me buy all the bags and proceeded to write down their corporate office phone number and the name of the store manager. I will promptly be contacting their headquarters to complain about this. I was very eager to buy over a hundred bags of these granola products which I very much enjoy eating with my lunch smoothies. I really liked grocery outlet, but this pissed me off at such a egregious level that will cause me to have difficulty buying anything at the store ever again. to anyone that thinks that this is a minor problem, they should be aware that there is a California Law called weights and measures. Very disappointed with this grocery outlet they had merchandise with coupons on the merchandise in their store and would not honor them so what they should do is take them off. You have to read labels on the food because a lot of it is expired or close to expiring and you have to ask for price check if your unsure because a lot of times the tag isn't there or incorrect. Everytime I come there's also a shoplifter that gets away with it but just now I needed an extra bag for my stuff bc she only charged me 2 bags and I asked for one after I paid and she didn't give me one I had to pay for it while there was already a line of customers. My husband and I decided to check out the Grocery Outlet out of curiosity, but weren't expecting much of anything. The way to describe Grocery Outlet is like how the store "Ross" is. You can find expensive name brand items as well as "cheap" items, but they never have the same items at any given time. You can't order items or ask them to save items for you because even the employees don't know what they are receiving. The girl who checked us out stated that it's like Christmas for them every time a shipment comes. The employees we interacted with were helpful and friendly. This place WAS great when it first opened. Original management knew the brands to bring in and pricing made sense for an outlet store. Ever since new management took over a few years back prices have skyrocketed, there aren't any great brands, even employees seem unhappy. The store has a high turnover rate with their employees, which tells me they don't treat their people well. Seems like new management is only driven by "bottom line". it feels like goods are brought in based on how much markup they can get out of them not based on demand or brand. And if they do bring in branded items with short dates they charge full price for it.... I expect short dated items at the outlet store however I don't expect to pay full price for them. It's definitely inexpensive here so I enjoy going for that, however, check your food before you buy it. I bought two things on separate occasions here that were molded that I didn't realize until I'd driven home already. Not terribly molded, but a few bits of mold sprouting across the items. Either way, still gross. I scrolled past reviews and saw that they are under new management, not sure if that's a recent development or not, so I wonder if this problem is solved and employees are taught to FIFO now or not. Overall, it's a nice, inexpensive place to get groceries, I do recommend it, just check your expiration dates and thoroughly inspect the items you purchase prior to putting them in your cart! read more

Cool little neighborhood market in Upland on the Northeast corner of Mountain Ave and 8th St. in Upland, next to the Dollar Tree. I've been going here for a while, and the prices are pretty good. I agree with others that you do need to check those expiration dates and also check the amount at the register. A lot of the best eye popping deals in the store are on items that need to be consumed pretty quickly, so keep that in mind. The pricing is sometimes off but that just due to the number of new grocery SKUs they're moving. Use this market for spot buys. Sometimes things you like are not always going to be back in stock after they sell out so get what you can, when you can. read more

This store has lost touch. It's one to avoid now. Every time I go there's something that will ring up higher than the posted price, which is illegal. If you catch it they will change the price for your total, without apology. They will not update the price in their system, so they can keep over charging. New grocery store in the upland area (where the fresh n easy used to be). They have the basic stuff you'd look for at a regular grocery store: frozen foods, cereal, cookies, chips, vitamins, pet food and even organic stuffs. The thing about this place is that mostly all of this stuff is marked down to a bargain price. Savvy shoppers will notice (and you savvy shoppers know who you are) that there are some "gimmick" items on the shelves that aren't SUPER deals...but guess what, if you get it here, it'll definitely save you a trip to another store to get that item and, it is still probably a penny or two cheaper here. They mark some items with "WOW" and for the most part, I was WOWED by them. I'm talking a HUGE jar of mayo (like a gallon) for $5.00, 4 pack of Rochefort 10 beer for $8.00 (here's looking at you craft beer nerds), and a tub of coconut oil for $10.00. Go ahead, say it....wow! It seems like a lot of the snack food items are taking a break at this store between your Vons type grocery store and .99 cent store. But that's not a knock on this place at all! It's totally stuff you'd be tempted to buy at either place, just discounted deep enough to want to try it from here cuz by the time it makes it to the dollar store, you'd be looking at it like "nah, seems sketchy in this dollar store setting". I know YOU know what I mean....seriously, cool snacks at great prices you wouldn't pay $7.99 for, but would totally pay $1.50 for. There's a good selection of wine and beer here too! Their definition of "craft" wouldn't sit well with all my fellow craft beer enthusiasts but, that word (craft) has faced scrutiny recently, so let's just say they've got a good selection of different styles and brands here. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Today I went to the Grocery Outlet in Upland on Mountain Avenue. I called first to ask if they carried a specific item and the employee that answered sounded like I was bothering her when I asked if someone could check on an item for me she sighed and said with an attitude "hold on", she left me on hold for about 5 minutes and I hung up. The reason I called first was that I wasn't particularly close by and I would have to drive several more miles to get there. So, I decided to go anyway and look for myself. When I entered the store the cashier at the register (which I'm assuming was the one that answered), never greeted me, she just looked down as a customer was approaching to pay. Fortunately, the item I was looking for was in stock (lucky for her, because I would have told her I was the one that called). I found other great deals and made it to the checkout with the same cashier, once again...no "hello", no "did you find everything you needed"...nothing. She just started scanning my items, never even asking if I wanted a bag. She never made eye contact and just told me my total, I paid and she gave me my receipt, never told me how much I saved and she just turned away as though I didn't exist. I'm a stickler for good customer service, if these employees aren't customer-friendly they shouldn't be working at a grocery store or any place where they will have contact with people, and I'm a firm believer that if you don't like your job, find another one, don't waste your time being miserable and treating customers rude. I will refrain from saying her name, but in case a manager or corporate person reads these reviews, I was there at 9:55 am and checked out at 10:21 am and she was the only cashier during that time. read more

I love shopping at this location because of their organic options. It's definitely one of my regular spots to shop. I write this in hopes it will make a difference with staff training. On Tuesday, I was left frustrated when the staff would not allow us to get close to the fridge section (rear of store). I understand their job is to restock, and that's what they were doing, however they prioritize the restocking and block the customers from shopping. I even mentioned to them I wanted to grab an item, but they didn't move out of the way and instead seemed irritated that I was there. Perhaps reminding the staff to prioritize the customer. Also, asking a price on an item should prompt them to find out for you versus just saying "I don't know" and not bothering to help. Other than that, I love the items available at this store. There is a Grocery Outlet Bargain Market closer to me but I still go to the Upland store because when I don't see something, there is always someone on the floor to help, usually Kathy. I used to shop here even when it was a Fresh and Easy store because Kathy is so friendly and knowledgeable. She starts customers like family, and that is pretty hard to find these days. I'm a regular shopper at many grocery outlet store because of great price, today I found a good deal on 12 pack beer at really good price as pictured. Not 1 not 2 but 12packs. They cashier is pretty nice but after they called two manager, manager LEE the old guy Denys their mistake and this is bait and switch and tell me each bottle is 2 dollars instead of whole case. Unlike many stores who will take returns or exchanges from other locations, Grocery Outlet will not. Each location is independently owned so they say. Additionally, if you happen to lose the receipt, they will not take the returns at all because they cannot be sure it's from the same store. They would not even give store credit. Wouldn't you think if they are independently owned, they would independently have a bar code for that store so they'd know? But hey - maybe too much common sense. Also this store has a tendency to scan the wrong price or double scan an item all together, so pay attention at the register. It has happened to me at least a few times here. read more

I shop here frequently seeing as I live close by. Last night I stopped by to do some shopping for dinner and was checked out by a nice young man (who has checked me out before) and when asked if I wanted a receipt I politely declined because I didn't think I was going to find expired products when I got home that would need to be returned!! I tried calling this morning (they were closed by the time I got home) and was unable to receive any assistance. I asked for an exchange of the items, not a refund, and was denied due to not having a receipt. It was only 3 items that in total costed around $6 which seems reasonable to honor. I was placed on hold for 15 minutes while they discussed in the background whether or not they could exchange the items.
