Double Deals, on Central Avenue in Montclair.
    California C.

Attention shoppers, i'd like to call your attention to the most recent incarnation of this location, long occupied by a variety of convenience grocery markets. Thus far I'm impressed at the existence of truly low prices here on many grocery and general merchandise items. Many of us have long counted on finding goods at less than the typical exorbitant full-retail prices. Consumers in general, have suffered a setback in the recent failure of the "99¢ Only Stores" chain in California and three other states. Many are also concerned by the closing of other retailers' locations, and by rumors of other major discount chains' impending demise. If you don't mind what may appear to some, to be a bit of a hole in the wall, there are some impressive low prices to be found here. If I understand the system, some items, already quite nicely priced, may also be marked "double deal" at any given time. On sale for half price, which can prove to be an exceptional bargain.

You only realize you've passed it once you drive past Buca Di Beppo. They share the parking lot with a gym, too. I tend to park near the entrance, but these are timed spots for grocery goers. They have an array of seasonal plants outside for you to look at before going inside. It's very clean inside. Immediately to your right you'll find fresh flowers and vegetables. The middle aisles are the frozen foods, spices, pastas, pet food, and some hand creams. Towards the back/last row are the alcoholic beverages paired with meat, cheeses, and breads. The workers here are very kind and you can find them sporadically stocking new items in each aisle. They always spark up a conversation with you when you're checking out and are always willing to help you bag your items. Maybe I'm used to it, but I really like this location for the layout, the people, the consistent supply of goods, and the convenient location.

I also decided to buy and try the canned Calamari in Olive Oil. Although it was good, I just don't think I'm a calamari person after all lol. As for the Watermelon Cucumber Cooler, it ended up being more sweeter than I expected, so i just didn't really end up being a fan :/ Overall though, checkout was quick and smooth, and I didn't have to wait in line for very long. :)

The grocery section had all the basics I needed, and everything was pretty organized and easy to find. Displays were clean and well put together. It's in a convenient spot in Pomona between Towne and Arrow, so it's an easy quick stop. I didn't really interact with staff since I used self-checkout, but it was fast and no issues. Ok parking in a small strip mall.

The employees there consistently chose fresh, high-quality produce, and I rarely had any issues. Unfortunately, my experience at the Walmart on Arrow Highway and Towne has been completely different. I strongly recommend not ordering fruits or vegetables for pickup from this location. Time after time, I receive produce that is bruised, overripe, moldy, wilted, or clearly past its best quality. I'm honestly shocked that some of these items are even being left on the shelves for customers to purchase. Every time this happens, I tell myself I won't order produce again, but with my busy schedule, pickup is often my only option. Customers who use pickup should receive the same quality produce they would choose for themselves if they were shopping in the store. Please do better. Train your employees on how to recognize and select fresh fruits and vegetables. Quality control matters, and this location is not meeting the standard I've come to expect from Walmart Pickup. I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously because this issue has been ongoing and is very disappointing.

I used to love coming here right before 5AM because of their 24-hour schedule. It was the perfect spot to grab their ready-packed deli items like salads, sandwiches, and chicken mashed potato bowls, for my workday lunch. Unfortunately, during my visit this morning, I discovered they are no longer open 24 hours. The new posted hours are 6AM to midnight daily. While these new hours no longer align with my schedule, it remains an excellent, well-stocked option for general grocery shopping.

Because I used to get small amounts before and now I'm forced to get an abundance that I can't use very quickly, so they go bad in my pantry, and they are too expensive for that large amount. They also usually have super long lines which is annoying (stop accepting EBT) Otherwise the prices are good, products are abundant. But the EBT sales are absurd. Every person in front of me in line is using EBT. I understand why they accept it because it's easy money, but they shouldn't since it's pushing customers who make honest money away.

There are so many things here, exotic teas, lots of veggies and fruits, even this awesome soapmaker who made Calamansi Soap! Wow! I purchased that too! Plus, Olive Oil with Basil, very fancy here, juice stands, salsa and chips fresh made. A bit of soft music, plenty of parking and got one quite fast. Beef jerky and chamoy candy. Pizza ready for baking when you home, too. I prefer shopping locally and lines not long and boring like grocery markets and major chains. Establishing relationships with market vendors is above all else important. Visiting again!!

There were plenty of free parking both on the street as well as behind the public library and the local post office. At the Farmer's market, you can find vendors selling fresh eggs, fruits, and flowers. There's also honey, juice and pastries that are super tasty. I was actually there primarily for the eggs and was able to get two dozens of XL Grade AA eggs for $23. Most vendors accept Apple Pay / Tab to pay using your cc or debit cards. I plan to come back here more often, and when I do, I will remind myself to bring my wagon.
