We didn't want to wait, so we decided to check out 99 Ranch this year. I'm impressed! There was no line, and the server was so friendly. We didn't want to cross-contaminate, so we asked them to clean the chopping board after each item, and he did not hesitate. He took his time to clean the board thoroughly. They packaged everything nicely into togo boxes. All three were great and comparable to Sam Woo. I would definitely come back here for BBQ. covid review: This 99 Ranch Market is my go to location because it's located closest to me. They took over a Ralph's a few years back but they have definitely made it their own. Now during Covid, they are making everyone enter from the door on the left. Previously, I would enter on the door on the right because that's where all the ready-made food was at. I'm not the primary grocery buyer for the house hold so typically I'm there to buy some pre-made food or grabbing some snacks. I would go and get some cold noodles, or sushi rolls, or some other food items that they have there. This is a typical 99 Ranch market where there's lots of great Asian groceries at your disposal. The boba ice cream bars have been very popular now and they've put everything out at one of those forward facing frozen fridges so it's easy access to get to. There's also an area in the regular frozen food aisle where they're also located. Everything's very organized and it's easy to find different items that you're looking for. There's a decent amount of parking here but sometimes I can get a little bit chaotic. Keep in mind sometimes the drivers don't always follow the arrows in the aisles so it's a little bit iffy sometimes. There are a couple of food eateries inside, but I'm not sure what their status is during this time. They didn't look open the last time I went in. COVID UPDATE. The market here is very good about keeping all of the carts and baskets clean. There are usually multiple attendants taking care of making sure the carts are cleaned between each use. NOT CROWDED. When I went (Tuesday, 4pm), the store was very empty. There were no more than 1 - 2 other people in my aisle at any time. [Weekends are a different crowd]. FOOD COURT and SEATING CLOSED. Boba Express, Ramen, and QiWei Kitchen are still closed (at least during mid-week). There are no tables to sit at (inside or out) if you purchase food from the bakery. You can sit in your car to eat it. I recommend that you eat something before you shop, or you will come home with too much food. FOOD. MEAT. FISH. - RESTOCKED! I come to get fresh fish and hot pot meats. There are plenty of pre-cut, shabu-shabu style meats that you can find here. Ranging from regular pork/chicken/beef to favorites goat and lamb. (Their lamb is VERY good). There are several cases of frozen fish (frozen on the boat) as well as fresh fish. Hotpot fish balls. If you haven't purchased any since quarantine began, you might not know that stores now sell fish balls / fish tofu / "by the bag". This is really much more convenient. VEGETABLES - A little low, many presaged for health reasons. Some of the fruit is already over-ripe. But this was mid-week, so maybe it was not stocked. All of the noodles. All of the tofu stick. All of the sauces. Surprisingly few hot pot soup mix, but you can make your own easily. All of the snacks you need too! - Although I wish there were more dried tofu options. Perhaps the cleanest and most organized 99 Ranch Market... 4 stars!!!! Pretty good selection of Asian fruits and vegetables as well as fresh fish and meats and grocery items. Most of what I need to cook Asian/Filipino dishes at home is at 99 Ranch so I go here since it's so close to home. Granted not all the Filipino ingredients that I need are at 99 Ranch so I do have to make a trek to Seafood City in Eagle Rock from time to time. Parking has never been an issue since this 99 Ranch shares a pretty big lot with Triple A, Arby's, Tastea, TMobile, and other stores. Granted, I've never seen this 99 Ranch to be overwhelmingly busy like some Asian markets in the San Gabriel Valley during the many times that I've stopped by. Pretty spacious without the crowd. Be sure to check the expiration date when purchasing from this store because they sell expired products! They still have facial mask with expiration date 2019.09.12 on their shelf in Dec 2021. That's 2 years past expiration date! To understand the date that's printed on the bottom of the packaging, it is the manufacture date and the shelf life is 3 years from mfg date. Love the meats, fresh seafood, frozen seafood, veggies incredibly fresh, but I love buying bottled sauces such a great variety. It wasn't as fishy as most of the 99 Ranch markets, which was nice, and this is the biggest one I've been to yet. Very convenient right off of Main St. They feature 3 restaurants inside this location, one of them is a Filipino BBQ, which I want to try. Another one is like a boba place, and the 3rd one is like a heat lamp multi dish offerings, reminiscent of Panda Express. They do have an in house bakery which had a nice variety of buns, cakes and breads. It's close to my house, so this will be my Asian market, good thing their prices are fair. read more

07/08/2018 Finally, someone takes over the old Ralph's Market location. I have come in here a few times just to see and compare with the other 99 Ranch Markets. It's a big space but yet seems like very limited on items when I look around. Just looking at the 99Ranch brand soy milk, seems slightly higher in price where I have purchased this before. I do like that there is a bakery to the right when you enter. There is Half & Half and Chibiscus Ramen and QiWei for different dining options. Unfortunately, they close around 8pm or before. Good selections in all departments and good Chinese deli inside with many read-to-eat bento boxes and take out items. There's also a bakery inside with good selection of cakes/sweets/breads. The shopping experience is quite different from most other 99 Ranch Markets in LA. If you want to shop ethnic Chinese groceries in a CLEAN environment, this is the place to go. Huge parking lot in front with lots of spaces. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is I bought some organic bananas and they would not ripen even after 10 days!! I particularly like this location because it's more spacious and the products are more diverse and complete compared to the other 99 Ranch markets. They update their weekly sales every Friday and tend to have some good deals too! The aisles are also wider, making it easier to do social distancing and not feeling so cramped up with other customers. Parking can definitely be a bit difficult, even though they have a huge parking lot. I usually go before 10 am to avoid the morning crowd. This location is also pretty clean and well-organized. They also regularly clean the shopping carts. They are still doing their best to limit the number of customers inside their store, unlike some other places that just don't really care anymore. read more

I've been to this 99 Ranch Market location a few times and have never had an issue with anything. Like other 99 Ranch Markets, they offer a wide variety of Asian goods that are priced well. They frequently have sales on products which customers can find at the entrance of the store or by going online to their website. I particularly like this location since it is cleaner and more organized compared to other 99 Ranch Markets that I have been to. Their fresh produce is also well stocked and the area is kept clean. Parking is also easy here since the store is located in a big complex with other businesses. One thing that could be improved upon is the stray carts in the lot. Although the customers should be responsible for putting back their carts after each use, employees can also help out in getting them. I was shopping for some groceries with my friend at 8pm on a MONDAY NIGHT. We got two regular bottles of soju and they asked to see both our IDs. She forgot hers at home, and I showed her mine. The cashier lady did not even BOTHER TO LOOK AT MY ID. My friend pulled up an ID picture to show the cashier her ID on the phone, and SHE DID NOT EVEN BOTHER TO LOOK AT IT! The cashier made up some bs rule saying because we came in the store together, you need to see both our IDs. Great B.S! I asked so how does that rule apply to parents with kids? She had no response. We were just 2 quiet normal customers wanting to buy 2 bottles of regular Soju because they were on sale for 2 for $10, but were refused the right because of a cashier lady who decided to make her own bs rules and didn't even bother to look at my ID. I even began speaking in mandarin and telling her we were both well above the age of 21, and that you can look at our IDs closely. 99 Ranch is usually consistently good in my opinion. I tend to frequent the Monterey Park location more often than the San Gabriel one. I recently had lunch at Golden Deli (such good Viet food down the street), and I came here to get my weekly groceries. Much to my surprise, Half and Half, my favorite boba place ever, will be opening a small store here! Wow! All of the other locations are stand-alone locations, such as in Monterey Park, Rowland Heights, City of Industry, etc. so this will be pretty unique. Also opening at this 99 Ranch are Chibiscus Ramen (other locations in Pasadena/Hollywood) and QiWei Kitchen (other location at Yes Plaza in Rowland Heights). The produce options were all fresh here, and the prices were definitely cheaper than your typical Ralph's, Albertson's, Trader Joe's. I love getting Chinese snacks here! It was my first time coming here , since it's my in law's birthday I decided to go more traditional for her and came here to get some ingredients. Everything felt really cheaply priced so it's very affordable, and they have good assortments of almost everything you could need from spices to pots. They had a lot of vegetarian/vegan products that I couldn't really understand I wish there was translated labels for those of us who don't understand, I'd don't buy some items because of this language barrier. They had cute stuff in their bakery too. The only thing I disliked is the seafood section had tanks and tanks filled with lots of live fish, lobster and other sea creatures which were alive and swimming while bumping into each other. I completely understand this is common in many markets /restaurants but it just made me so sad seeing them all bump into each other non stop and not being able to even move around, I mean if you already sell them dead I don't see a point in keeping them barely alive in these tanks for extra torture. I know many may disagree with me, and say it's more fresh that way, but I think it's truly unnecessary. 99 Ranch envy, I have. This Alhambra location is the complete polar opposite of my local 99 Ranch in Artesia - clean, new, spacious. I'm a 99 Ranch regular & I was wow'd the moment I stepped inside. Wide aisles have merchandise neatly shelved. 2 rows of sample ladies had my lunch, er, tastings for customers to try. The produce section was inviting & attractive, with all the various fruit & vegetables neatly arranged. The seafood section had many live tanks of a variety of aquatic life - prawns, catfish, largemouth bass, carp, tilapia etc. On the right of the store, a bakery has fresh baked goods. I read a sign stating they use butter, not shortening, which is always a plus. The deli had bento bowls of fried chicken, pork & fish on top of rice, along with rotisserie chicken. Fresh sushi were being prepared & packaged for the daily demand. All ready to take home. Parking is via a private lot, shared by such businesses as Gamestop & Arby's. Man, how I wish the Artesia 99 Ranch had a makeover to look like this. The Alhambra 99 Ranch was an eye opener. It's true that the prices are the most important factor when it comes to shopping, but when the prices are surrounded by an aesthetically pleasing environment, it's all gravy, baby! On 5/20, when I was shopping at 99 Ranch Market in Alhambra, I slipped on some milk tea that was on the floor and almost fell. I was shocked, and my shoes and legs were dirty. While I was still in shock their "customer service" lady, her name was: Jun Wang came over and blamed me instead and said in Mandarin "Why are you walking without looking at the floor!" I was really angry because why was there milk tea spilled on the floor and it hadn't been cleaned up quickly and there was no warning sign! Before I said anything yet, she actually came to me not caring about my safety or to say sorry, but to scold me. It's the business's responsibility if a customer slips while shopping in a supermarket. This Jun Wang had the nerve to come and scold others. Such low class behavior, lack of manners and education is really disappointing, not to mention that the supermarket should not have slippery liquids on the floor and they did not block people from the area, and no warning signs not to let people enter. I was very upset, so I went to go look for a manager to complain, and I asked 3 employees. They just ignored me, without taking any responsibility and said that they didn't see the manager, or that the manager was no longer present/off work. Service is the worst grocery market in LA. This store has a lottery ticket machine, but machine only take bills $20 or below. I have a $50 bill want to change to smaller bills and buy lottery tickets. But be told with very rude tone by the employee, that " they're not Bank". I'm shocked this store keeps this kind of employee for service center. She refused to give you the service that she got paid to work here. I love this place.... it's soooo close to where I live so very convenient.... and considering it's a Chinese market, it's very clean and service staff are pleasant. They have a great selection of Asian and "American" veggies. They also have a good selection of fresh meats. It's good enough for me since I don't eat that much meat.
