Global Fresh Market is located on the corner, in a plaza off of Rosemead Blvd. This is also in the same plaza as AutoZone. They took over the old Valu Mart Warehouse location. I have been to this Asian market a few times and am actually surprised that the price of produce is really cheap. But you do have to be aware that the fruits may not last as long as maybe going to another market like Smart & Final or Stater Bro's. Also there have been times when I have seen produce starting to mold/ have spots. During cherry season, I was surprised to find that this market sold rainier cherries (I actually love these more than the red ones) for $1.98 per pound where as other places are selling them for anywhere from $5 to $7 per pound. It is very busy when some of their produce like that is very cheap (because you know you just aren't the only one who thinks that is a good deal). The rest of the market itself has a similar layout as what you would expect at other Asian markets. And on our past visits, the market has been clean and did not have that familiar odor that may be associated with Asian markets. One thing I thought was interesting though about this market is that you need to have a minimum purchase of at least $5 for credit card transactions. I have only seen a small number of markets that have a minimum for credit card transactions and just wanted to bring that up for those that don't normally carry cash but wish to grocery shop here. read more

Extremely rude staff that will talk shit right in front of you. I asked for a bag 5 times before just looking down and noticing bags. When I went to pick one up the Chinese lady started to yell at me saying ITS NOT THAT BAG ITS NOT THAT BAG. She gave me two bags but when I asked for more she started to just throw them at me. Even when I asked for any other form of assistance she'd ignore me and then talk smack to her coworker. It's unfortunate because some of the produce and food looked good but a lot of it was spoiled or rotten. The whole "fresh meat" section looked pitiful as there were live frogs and "fresh" shellfish that looked all diseased. As an Asian American I get that the older generations do things a little differently but this experience was absolutely inexcusable. Rude people beyond what I've ever experienced and a nasty environment. The management didn't even answer to help the situation. You must avoid this place at all costs if you want to have your health and peace of mind. read more

The name Global Fresh Market was enough to lure me in -- I mean, "global" and "fresh" in the same breath? I was practically expecting a fruit passport stamp at the door. True to form, they did deliver an impressive assortment of tropical and hard-to-find fruits. So far, so good. Now, about that word fresh -- let's call it aspirational. Several fruits were sporting some noticeable blemishes, though in fairness, that might be the work of picky shoppers playing a game of "squeeze every mango and put it back." We've all seen that person. The selection overall wasn't bad, but they fell short on a few things I needed -- either the price was a touch high, or the brand wasn't quite right. The store leans heavily on food products from China, which appears to be their bread and butter (or should I say, their rice and soy sauce). As for making a special trip from home? Probably not. The limited selection on my must-have list makes it a tough sell for a dedicated haul. That said -- if you're here specifically to raid their produce section and stock up on exotic fruits you won't find at your average grocery store, this is absolutely your spot. Very unpleasant first experience at Global Fresh Market. It was my husband's birthday, and after having a nice meal in San Gabriel , we stopped by this market for the first time. Unfortunately,cashier #104 the cashier was extremely rude and unfriendly. She looked irritated and even threw the bags at me and was very dismissive. No matter what the situation is, customers should always be treated with basic courtesy and respect. It was very disappointing that an otherwise happy day ended with such an unpleasant experience. Large market and pretty organized. Some good deals, some wilted veggies, and some veggies that were molding that were spotted today. I'm surprised they would even keep it out to sell? What really pissed me off today was the cashier at station 6 (older Asian lady with her hair in a bun and with glasses). We were waiting for bags and she started telling us to put the items in our cart. So, we just assumed she was out of bags and we started putting the items into the cart. When it came time to pay, that's when this db decided to hand over bags and shot a bag at me while I was picking up items in the cart. So this is not the cleanest fanciest Market this is not the modern design or Style this is your very typical low cost bargain produce market the location itself has changed many names this is the latest and they actually seem to be doing really well beware of some not nice customers who picked through strands of vegetables just to get the perfect one and just dump the rotten ones all over the place check out the signs that they post if you do not have any moral values that type of thing all over the place so just be aware of that but older people and bargain shoppers alike love this Market parking can be challenging be careful just be careful. This is an okay Asian market. There is a large parking lot. There is a separate woman's and man's bathroom. It supposed to have fresh vegetables and fruits... but buyers beware. Sometimes, this market sells rotten fruits. The workers in produce department usually removed vegetables from shelves one hour before closing time. So, you can be out of luck looking for vegetables. Craving homemade food, so I stopped by Global Fresh Market to get ingredients to make soup. Store is very clean and the staff are so very friendly and helpful, love that!! The store is located on a large lot w ample parking. I bought some beef shank, baby bok choy (apparently, its called Shanghai bok choy in this area), tomatoes, green beans, taro, and tamarind paste to make Sinigang (tamarind soup). The beef was very good quality and the vegetables were so fresh. My soup came out delicious!! A lot of the vegetables are slightly priced lower than other supermarkets in the area. Baby bok choy was only $0.98 cents/lb. Overall, highly recommend!! The friendly staff and lower prices are what keeps me coming back here!! read more

First time visiting this market. I have to say, I don't know why people aren't shopping here more. It may be a small smaller market, but, everything is priced really well. Comparing all the websites and weekly advertisements of other grocery stores/markets, this one is comparable. It has a lot of variety, it does have some American and Hispanic foods in their aisles. Just glad for the fact that everything is not overpriced. There are some items that are specialty, that are above market price but, these are specialty items so it's understandable. Overall, it's a good market full of local people. I was able to get in and out of the market with no issues. I am glad that they have more of a low light setting comes us with not a lot of overhead fluorescent lighting, so it's easier on the eyes. If you're sensitive to smell, please be aware that they do have a seafood section and you will smell the fish being processed as well as the butcher taking care of fresh cuts of meat. I don't know why people are gatekeeping this, it's a good market to get some decently priced fruits and vegetables. Also some pretty good snack snacks and treats. read more

Finally, the new Asian supermarket - Global Fresh Market - has opened in place of Numero Uno/Valu-Mart. The market is located on Temple City Blvd and Longden with plenty of parking spots. The market itself is incredibly big, with items similarly spaced out as how Numero Uno/Valu-Mart used to have it. The items near the front of the store seem to be priced on the cheaper side. They were certain vegetables that were pretty cheap (spinach was $0.99 a bundle, 3 avocados for $0.99, etc.) while other items were priced on par with other markets. There's a pretty large vegetable/fruit selection as well as the meat/fish section towards the back of the store. Seems like the workers are still unloading and organizing the store - lots of items still being placed onto shelves. They're also in process of making sure all items are in the system. Hours are 9 AM to 9 PM every day, which is super convenient if you live fairly close and need to grab a few items. For the time being, the store is not accepting EBT. read more

Another Asian market in the area! This use to be ValuMart then switched and now another market. This place have plenty of parking and because of it's location, the prices are must better than surrounding Asian markets. Of course it doesnt look AS fancy and nice as 99 ranch or others, but it's not like i'm having dinner here. Groceries should be good deals and grab and go. The staff is very helpful. The owners are actually a couple that wants to try out this market business so they are there ALL THE TIME. One time we were in a rush. They open at 9am, but we were at the door. The staff saw us and we asked can we just grab something really quick. THEY OPENED THE DOOR and let us in! You'll find all your Chinese food and grocery products, plus a great selection of Korean, Vietnamese, Tha,i Japanese, Malaysian, Indonesian, etc. groceries. Give yourself some time if you visit. Just a produce and seafood counter could give you a headache if you're not used to the sheer amount of selection in these kinds of markets. Service is prompt and very professional, and the level of cleanliness and organization is uncommon for a supermarket with this many departments. Lately, this has been my favorite grocery store to get my produce because they just have the BEST deals and very fresh fruits and veggies. Even their meats and seafood are pretty good deals when there's a sale. Global Fresh Market also carries a wide array of Chinese products and brands that can't be found at 99 ranch or other grocery stores - so it's fun for me to explore. The parking lot is very large and I find that the best time to visit is on a weekday evening because that's when a lot of seafood is restocked. read more

I sometimes go to this market for less expensive produce. And yes, compared to the other nearby Asian markets, this store does provide cheaper prices for some produce. But here is the catch, the quality of the lower priced produce is really bad to the point for some folks, there is no point in purchasing them. Take the green lettuce they had on sale: 2 heads for $1. Each of these lettuces had brown spots or rotting. Not sure if it's worth coming here for stuff like this. Although you do find some deals like plums but only if you're willing to pick through the many bruised and spotty fruits just to get to the decent ones. Would never come back to this store. 1. Quality of food has always been an issue. Some veggies and fruits are not fresh and some packaged foods were expired. But since it's a market, just keeping your eyes open all the time, be careful of what you are buying. 2. Service is the real problem. The cashier often makes mistakes and takes a long time to fix small issues. And the lady in charge of the service desk never tries to solve any problem, instead she blames the customer with rude and cocky attitudes as we were looking for trouble. read more
