I bought a fresh bag of duck eggs (6 eggs per bag). I tried to use them after two days, 4 out of 6 are all rotten, they smell bad and the York turned into brown liquid. This isn't a first time I bought the products at Hoa Binh supermarket and can't use them since they expired but the supermarket still selling them, many items don't have expiration date so we don't know. For example, duck eggs have no expiration date on the bag. This kind of business is scamming customers. read more

I don't really like coming here for many reasons. The main attraction to this place for most customers is cheap prices and Thursday deals. There are much better Asian grocery markets nearby in my opinion. Yes, they have everything you might want or expect at the Asian grocery store including live seafood, a fry station, meat station, liquor, "fresh" produce, and normal packaged goods. However, I noticed that their produce is sometimes not as high quality or fresh as other places. Also, the grocery store is really dirty. So just my mind makes me a bit turned off from buying stuff there. On Thursdays they have huge sale and you'll see the elderly Asian people crowding it like it's Black Friday in early 2000s. While the deals are insane, I'm not fighting with people and waiting in line for an hour just to check out. My time is worth more than a few bucks haha. The parking lot is crazy too. These old Asian people are either not afraid of dying or think they are invincible. I would not recommend this place and will not be coming back. read more

The first Hoa Binh Supermarket I have ever known is the one located on Holt Blvd in Pomona. I didn't know there is another one of its kind until recently. This one is on Valley Blvd in Rosemead. It looks like they have one more location in Garden Grove. Anyway, my Mom and I came here to look for Auntie Liu's peanuts and to buy some green onions. We didn't find the peanuts, but got the green onions. This Hoa Binh is a little bigger and a lot cleaner and organized than the Pomona location. Produce, meats, and seafood were fresh. Good selections of dry goods and other merchandise available. Staff was okay. Free parking is available. I don't shop at this Hoa Binh much even though I'm usually nearby it on the weekends. There are so many supermarket options in SGV. Hoa Binh is only an option when we're primarily looking for Auntie Liu's peanuts. No photos this time. Will capture them next time. Thanks! read more

I love this market! It's totally run down and not the most aesthetically pleasing place and the lighting sux. However, for southeast Asian ingredients or exotic fruits/herbs/ vegetables this places rocks. Another review about this store, a separate issue that happened July 2024. I paid with card on my purchase and subsequently on the same day there was a fraudulent transaction made on my card from another place (I think out of state). I suspected their POS card swipe device machine was not secured enough, prone to risk of skimmers, people stealing the card information from a fake layer covered on top of the swipe machine as seen in YouTube videos on how skimmers work. The next day I contacted the store and asked to speak to store manager to make him aware of the incident to prevent from happening again to other customers. The lady on the phone told me the manager won't come in until certain time and I called another time. I also came into the store asking for the manager but the lady told me all these things to brush me off and didn't want to talk to the manager. I was trying to be nice to alert the store about the fraud so that they can take better precautions to prevent future fraud. The fraudulent purchase on my card, I was not held responsible so I didn't have to pay for it. They sent me a new card. Ever since this incident happened to me, I stopped coming to this supermarket (almost a year) because I find their customer service desk was rude and not helpful. The groceries and goods here tend to be cheaper than in other markets. They have a huge selection of soy sauce, which is great! Sales day is on Thursday, so it can get really packed. Coming here early is better in order to get a parking space and a shopping cart. It's difficult to find a shopping cart especially on sales day and we have to either look for one in the parking lot or get it from someone after they unload their groceries! Very bad customer service. When checking out we bought 2 bags of orange and 2 more bag of bananas and a box of cookie. They only gave us a bag to put banana in but the orange and cookie box they didn't give us a bag. I asked can we have another bag and she said they don't have it no more. BS We used EBT. My dad purchased 3 over priced Chinese medicine and he didn't think to look at the date and when we got home, saw it's expired!!!! Omg imagine he just took the medicine? Please be careful when shopping at Hoa Binh Market. Today, I found that the meat I purchased was underweight. I bought six different types of meat, and when I got home to prepare dinner, I discovered that the bag of short ribs, which was supposed to weigh over 5 pounds, was almost a pound lighter. Since I often follow recipes on YouTube that require precise measurements, I decided to weigh all the items from Hoa Binh Market. I found that most of the vegetables and meat were weighed incorrectly. When I brought my scale back to the market and confronted the manager, she refused to acknowledge the problem and claimed that my scale was inaccurate. To prove the problem, I weighed a pound of glutinous rice flour from the market, but the manager said she did not know how to use my scale. Despite proving that the market scale was inaccurate, she only agreed to refund me without offering an apology. Before leaving the market, I expressed my disappointment with her behavior and explained that I did not want to cause trouble. However, due to her insincerity, I only brought up the review to make everyone aware. She was lucky. If it had happened to someone else, the store would definitely face a lawsuit. read more

My parents had purchased groceries from this market a few times and in those times, the meat and tofu they bought were bad. It wasn't even because we didn't cook them immediately because we were gonna cook them the same night. Cashiers are also rude. A previous customer grabbed a ripped a ton of the plastic bags used to veggies and fruits and left them in the cart. My grandmother happened to use the same cart and ignored those bags. Upon paying the cashier spoke in Vietnamese how greedy and cheap she was for getting so many of those small plastic bags, assuming my grandma didn't understand. Turns out grandma's badass af and understood every word because she's from Vietnam and put the cashier in her place, telling her she didn't need those bags as she has so many at home and will even give her some if she's so salty about it. Dang security had to come and tell her to calm down. Honestly the only redeeming quality about this place is their snack aisle and the prices are lower than other supermarkets. read more

This place doesn't want my honest review...BUT HERE WE GO....! I don't live far from here at all. I walk here in a matter of one minute, so I see a lot. Let's get started with their delivery bays. There is a litany of people that routinely pull up at night in their trucks to unload their own garbage into the dumpsters (which are never locked for some unknown reason), and on more than one occasion while walking to the bus stop I've seen individuals drive up in their personal cars to buy and sell fish from people there as a backhand deal it seems. They show up in these regular cars and either exchange fish from a tank in the back seat, or take it from the loading area. This is where food is exchanged, right? Why are the employees always out here smoking? And why is there ALWAYS homeless people sleeping and defecting there? When I brought this to the manager's attention she basically asked me what I think she's supposed to do about it. Wonderful service and the fresh graffiti every week looks wonderful! so let's move on to food quality: I don't even know why my family used to buy meat here when it's already rotten half of the time. How do you have such copious amounts of rotten meat on hand? I'm glad we know when it isn't good and have gotten refunds, but how many people that don't know do you think have gotten sick because of it? And your fruit? Fruit! How do you mess that up? I bought three mangos to cut for lunch for my family last night and when I started to cut them what did I find? Not a single one was edible! They were ALL BAD. New Market in Town so everyone rushes to go pay a visit. Especially if it's a Grand Opening & FREE Gift with purchase! I drove by several times but the parking lot was insane! I kept on going until today. It's been a few days & there is No More FREE Gift with purchase. The crowd had died down & parking is less hectic. I stopped in to check it out. Upon entering the market, there was a huge crowd around the customer service area. I looked around and saw that 2 security guys were wrestling a guy, trying to put handcuffs on him. So i asked the spectators what was going on, found out that he was shoplifting. He put up a good fight. On with the store. Typical Asian Supermarket. Liquor section, produce, Seafood, Meats, Frozen, & packaged fresh meats. They do have a good selection of thinly sliced meats for hot pots & all sorts of fish, shrimp, squid balls. There's a kitchen towards the front where they prepare hot foods & Vietnamese desserts (Che). Prices are comparable so you may find some thay are slightly cheaper or a little more. Hoa Binh is a new supermarket in Rosemead that replaced Beach's Supermarket. Another Asian business has made its way into the neighborhood where there is strong competition nearby (168, 99 Ranch, The Square, Hawaii Supermarket, Shun Fat). Its most notable competitor is The Square that is across the street. However, both businesses specialize in different products. The Square is a Chinese-run market with some Korean influence, while Hoa Binh focuses on Vietnamese and Chinese produce. The common denominator between the two is the cleanliness. Hoa Binh's biggest strength is its extensive variety of fresh vegetables, including harder to find types like chayote, purple yams, and even dua gang (Vietnamese melons more likely to be found grown in backyards than supermarkets). Hoa Binh also stocks the common Chinese vegetables such as mustard greens, gailan, TW A-choy, luffa, okra, choy sum, and bittermelon making it a potential one-stop place, but I feel that the prices are currently high for a market that just opened. The same comment about price applies to the seafood and meat. Options and price essentially match those of nearby supermarkets. Live fish is sold at market price ($4.99 tilapia/lb and $4.49/lb catfish), no promotions. The only price advantage where Hoa Binh is superior to competitors is in the fruit aisle. 5 pounds of oranges for 99 cents is a deal worth taking advantage of. Perhaps one unique aspect that separates Hoa Binh from its competitors is the deli-kitchen area. A group of employees are dedicated to pumping out several rows of Vietnamese desserts in the $1.50 to $2 range and preparing homestyle-Vietnamese packaged meals which are eaten with rice (tom ram thit, suon ram me, ca kho mang) and paired with catfish soup (canh chua ca bong lau). The packaged food looks nowhere near the quality of what a restaurant can prepare, but for the $3.99 price tag, some of the dishes might be functional for a simple lunch box at the office. While Hoa Binh is a promising new player in the market with a fairly large produce inventory, it doesn't offer enough promotions to steal business from local competitors. Formerly BEACHES market and now it's Hoa Binh Rosemead Supermarket - another Vietnamese market. Decided to check out this place since I didn't wanna drive all the way down to Little Saigon and cuz it was something different than the regular grocery places I take my Mom to. Parking: They share it with Evolution Recycling and the spaces are hella tight and majority of these drivers can can't park right and properly within their own lines. *Shakes head and fist* It's a clean supermarket and nicely organized. You would think for a new market, they would have a lot more demo sampling stations - nope! There was a demo woman who did onion pancakes and didn't even had any on the skillet to try. Another woman was demo - ing the Birds Nest Soup drink and only gave us one dinky little cup. Cheap! Even Hawaii market had more demo women and the market over at The Square had more demo women too. I will say with one pro: they had the Vietnamese dessert cups that I like: The green taro dessert with coconut milk and the banana one. Each cup is $1.50 and makes for a great snack :) Mom didn't buy much here cent for some pickles and bitten Elon with two cans of bamboo shoots. Overall, it was a nice place to check out, but I'll mainly be coming here for the dessert cups when the mood strikes. read more

We go here occasionally because they have rabbit in the freezer case. The vegetables and fruit does not seem as fresh as the other stores in the vicinity. The live seafood looked good, they had dungeoness crabs, largemouth bass, catfish and tilapia. Also there was a lot of dead fishes that were packed on ice. This store looks like they do not turn product quickly enough to keep things fresh. Not very many customers when we have been there. It is easy to park, and there is little to no wait for checking out. We always check dates on these types of stores, have never bought anything expired.
