Hands down the best bakery in the area. The first thing i ever got there was the Sea Salt Foccacia. I hadn't eaten breakfast that morning, so when i pulled a piece off on the way home, it was heaven. Only half the loaf was left when i arrived at home. Over the last 14 months I have tried many items and have never been disappointed. From the Herbed Olive Sourdough to the Cardamom Buns, there is something for every occasion. My only wish is that they weren't a 15 minute drive away. read more

I've visited The Cottage a couple more times, along with visiting plenty of other Seattle-area bakeries, and I unfortunately no longer think they are top tier. I'm not sure if it's because something changed on the side of the bakery (maybe recipe or personnel changes?) or on my side, having tried more bakeries around the area. On our last visit we bought two loaves of bread to accompany a butter tasting. Both loaves I found to be not nearly as high quality as I remember previously. Pane Bello ($9) - The crust basically doesn't exist in this bread. It's soft and leathery and doesn't give that satisfying crispness of a well baked bread. The interior, while having good crumb structure, is particularly dry and almost crumbly. The taste is mild, perfect for pairing with higher end butters. (3/5) Parmesan Black Pepper Sourdough ($9) - This batard has similar texture as compared to the Pane Bello. It has the addition of plenty of black pepper baked inside, spaced out rather evenly, allowing a peppery bite every time. There's salty and fatty parmesan baked on top, giving a caramelized salty umami. It definitely has more flavor than the Pane Bello, but suffers from the same textural issues. (3/5) We purchased both loaves at 10AM on a Sunday morning and they were consumed within 2.5 hours, so I don't think it's an issue with storage. I ate a bit of their regular foccacia at a work event too. It has a good crispy exterior and is salted well on the top. Unfortunately the interior isn't the best, having a really dense, chewy crumb. I'm honestly not sure what happened. I really loved The Cottage when I first moved here 1.5 years ago. Now? I have a number of bakeries I'd choose over here in a heartbeat. read more

Such a cute bakery with a good selection! We got 5 items: 1) Cottage cookie: solid cookie! Perfect chewiness and softness and has a hint of coconut flavor. 2) Dutch apple darling: a must get!! Apples are sweet and the perfect softness, paired with the crispy and fluffy dough was just perfect. Not overly sweet nor sour. 3) Maple pecan darling: also a must get!! This was such a great dessert for my sweet tooth. The dough was fluffy and crispy and the nutty flavor was so good! 4) Almond Bostock: it's like an almond croissant, the outer edges are very crispy but the inside is softer! 5) Chocolate chunk rye: this one was interesting, it almost tasted like a coffee flavor to me. Stand outs from other bakeries in Seattle are there generous samples and incredible price of Stamp Act Coffee, one of my favorite Seattle coffee roasters, which can cost up to $26 per 12 oz bag elsewhere is a flat $15! Pistachio Cake! That's right, they now have a very yummy Pistachio Cake, no weird extract just glorious pistachios and the cake is so moist you just can't stop eating it. While here we always try to get a loaf or two and guys their focaccia always hits the spot, but of course don't forget to grab a cookie or 4 its well worth it. read more

This bakery is a hidden gem in the Perrinville neighborhood of Edmonds. Love their bread and baked goods. I've stopped by when they had samples of their French onion foccacia out, as well as their granola butter smeared on bread and it was all sooo good! On this last visit, I got the chocolate chunk rye cookie, maple shortbread and the dutch apple darling. All were delicious, but I would say the standout is the chocolate chunk rye cookie. I like being surprised when I show up because I never know what is available or what new item is on display that is calling my name. Service is friendly and prompt. Even with a line, it goes quickly. This place is a bread-lover's dream. As someone who worked in NYC bread bakeries for years, I have high standards and The Cottage is magical. First of all: samples. Little bites of pastry, cookies, bread? I was instantly sold. The line moved fast, the case was gorgeous, and their local merch selection? Also excellent, impeccable. But the bread... THE BREAD. We got a flaky sea salt focaccia (that only partially made it home) and a parmesan black pepper sourdough loaf, and I'm not exaggerating when I say we're now planning to drive out of Seattle every weekend for our bread fix. Clearly, I have been under a boulder (not a rock) not having this amazing indie business on my radar screen sooner, learned about it only recently. Indeed there is a quality bakeshop with reasonable prices for north enders in the Perrinville area of Edmonds! I had stopped by on 11/25/24, only to find out that the site is closed on Mondays. My bad for not checking beforehand. I returned with a fellow Yelp Elite/IGer on 11/30/24 after our breakfast at nearby Bistro 76. One thing that was notable upon immediate entry was the amazing, tantalizing baking scent. I loved how the various stacked flour bags acted as instant customer flow barriers. Lots of merch, platters of samples, and I was glad for the line because it allowed me to gawk at the vast product line of artisan breads and other baked goods. I bought one each of the French Onion Soup Focaccia ($7), Lemon Bun ($4), and Chocolate Chunk Rye Cookie ($3). Delicious and satisfying - as how well crafted baked goods should be received. Stopped in to their brick and mortar location for some yummy carbs and was blown away by how delicious everything was. We sampled their croissants (so flaky), their cookies (kiddo approved) and a loaf of their bread (cue Homer Simpson-esque drooling) and were SO MAD that it took us this long to find this gem! Because of large number of positive reviews, I drove there to buy country sourdough. Soon after eating, thin layer of the skin in my mouth peeled off. It happens quite often when I eat salty chips too. But I have been eating Es**** bakery(Seattle) sourdough for 20 years and have never had that problem/irritation. HOLY CROISSANTS, BATMAN! Let me tell you about my serendipitous stumble into carb heaven at the Edmonds Farmers Market! There I was, minding my own business, when Community Bakery's stall beckoned to my inner Parisian (she's been sulking since that magical trip to France approximately 47,283 croissants ago). Picture this: Me, standing there like a kid in a... well, bakery, eyeing this absolutely magnificent loaf of bread. Did they have a bread slicer? Non. Did that stop me? Also non! Sure, I knew I'd probably turn that beautiful loaf into a bread crime scene at home, but YOLO, right? But wait, there's more! The real cherry on top (or should I say, the butter on the croissant?) was the crew of teenage staff members who were actually - gasp - HAPPY to be there! In Seattle, where the infamous 'Seattle Freeze' is so real it could probably preserve dinosaur DNA, finding friendly service is like finding a parking spot downtown - rare and worthy of celebration! These kids were dropping knowledge about baked goods like they were the next generation of Great British Bake Off contestants. It was downright heartwarming, folks! Makes me want to rush to The Cottage before my great state exodus next year. TL;DR: If you're tired of the Seattle Freeze, come thaw out with some warm bread and even warmer smiles at Community Bakery. Haven't gone to the store but have bought bread from Kenmore farmer's market. Fresh and delicious but spendy.

Wanting bagels led me to this place. There were line of people but the process was fast. When you buy three bagels you get one for free. Love that it's soft and tasty. Not too salty either. Love love the focaccia! Just perfect. Huge portion of real sourdough. Have to try that next time because focaccia was large! There are little tables to sit and enjoy some sweet bake goods as well. For me, sample pretzel roll and other delicious samples were so addictive. Giving me a whole roll to taste gives me an impression of their confidence. In short This is the spot--the local and expert baker(s) turning out all the awesome bread, pastries, pretzels, and the like. No cakes or pies, but everything else. In long Local restaurants have clearly already gotten hip to what's happening here, and that's how we found out about this place. We had fantastic pretzels at a place down in the Edmonds Bowl a couple months ago, where they proudly call out The Cottage as their supplier. We immediately planned to shop here the next time we could fit in a cheat meal. This weekend, with family in town, turns out to be perfect. I don't know if this corner of Perrinville is always this packed on Thursday afternoons, but there was not much parking today. Good indicator for the business! In related news, there's a whole set of interesting-looking businesses all tucked together here in a setting that's less like a strip mall and more like the "country village" model that pops up up around these parts. They're right by the parking lot entrance, and in the time it took me to park, multiple carloads of people headed in. You turn left right away and walk around the stacks of flour and shelving. Having no resistance to temptation myself, this ended up prompting me to grab a jar of Mt Baker Fireweed honey. The selection here is focused and shows some flair for variety, but by no means do they have hundreds of different products. It's one kitchen also filling dozens of restaurant/retail orders, so it was nice to see a couple dozen things to choose from here. I got the country sourdough (heavy, crusty, fragrant) and green onion focaccia (also dense and fragrant). The focaccia is probably the best I've had--once you heat it up and butter it, it's the only bread I've ever been tempted to describe as "tender." It's incredibly delicate. The sourdough English muffins also overpowered my sales resistance, and they're amazing. Not light and airy at all like the English muffins we Americans get at the supermarket, but chewy and tasty. For my sister I got cardamom buns and granola. I've never even heard of cardamom buns before, so I appreciate these folks helping me step a stride or two out of my sheltered existence. Kind of a cinnamon roll, but a little smaller, and more Christmas-y in their spice profile. The granola is sweet and crunchy and kind of a gourmet breakfast cereal you eat dry. Super good. The kids at the counter are super young, very friendly and nice, and work well together. I didn't have many questions and didn't dawdle, but they had all the info I needed right away. It's the perfect savory tangy bread to have with a shmear of cold kerry gold unsalted butter. And with little bit of chili oil on top???-- so effing amazing. You can ask for their bread sliced as well. I'm sure any selection you just can't go wrong. But that olive sourdough... you can't get anywhere else. Excellent local bakery! The little place feels calm and is very clean. I like how they present their bread and it's easy for pick and choose. I am so happy I found this gem in Lynnwood. The people there are super nice and knowledgeable and passionate about their bread. They also sell local mill flour from Cairnspring Mill by pound! I don't need to go all the way to Burlington or get these giant bags of flour from grocery store. The place is all I needed as a local bakery. Definitely will go back every week. PS they also give out small amounts of starter for free for ppl who would like to try bake at home. I ate my ciabatta immediately and it's chewy outside and soft and moisture inside. I have been here multiple times since I live close. Not one bad experience. Everything is made fresh and it's delicious! Everyone is always so nice and you greeted very warmly when you walk in. It's a small store front, but they always have samples ready, which I love! They do have a couple tables outside in case you want to stick around and enjoy your bakery goods! We happened upon this bakery and picked up the cottage cookies and the focaccia. The cottage cookies were baked well, but the mix of toppings in there are not my favorite, but that's definitely a personal preference. I recently moved from Capitol Hill and a friend told me about this lovely hidden gem tucked away in my new neighborhood. I was so excited my first visit that I bought the country sourdough, bagels, pretzel, banana bread slice, chocolate chunk cookies, this apple pastry, and the cardamom bun! All of it was so good! They can slice the sourdough for you as well. We went through that loaf so quickly! The banana bread is incredibly moist and delicious. The chocolate chunk cookies are amazing if you love a good chunky/chewy cookie. I recommend heating up the cardamom bun (it's rather dense when you get it) it will soften it up perfectly. This weekend I got another loaf of sourdough and the rosemary focaccia to try. Weekend trips to the Cottage is going to be my new routine for getting my fresh bread for the week! read more

Absolutely delicious breads. We got the oat sourdough. A nut bread, brioche loaf and 1/2 dozen pretzel balls. When you store bread in airtight containers, it lasts all week. Last visit we got local jam which is also delicious. Check hours as they're specific, but a fun routine in our family to get fresh bread for the week. Considering prices for plastic packaged bread at the supermarket, getting fresh, preservative free and delicious bread for about the same price is a great option. read more
