I don't know why I think each time will be any better. We went there tonight to celebrate a birthday. Started with a couple of drinks at the bar while we waited for a table. Half hour almost 40 minutes goes by and we ask how much longer only to find out the hostess has forgotten us. We get a table about 5 minutes later. They were not overly busy. The place is dirty as hell. Floor has food, popcorn, wrappers all over it. Every time I've been there it's like that. We order our food and that takes over a half hour to be brought to the table. We asked the waitress on the sly if they can recognize the birthday person with us. They bring our check instead , 2 containers for 4 different leftover plates. We remind them about the birthday as we look at the bill. They brought some cookie thing with ice cream and basically say "here" and walk away. I guess they don't sing at 99. We pay the bill on the hand held kiosk the waitress left us and it added an extra 25 dollars to the bill. I ask the waitress to explain it. She tried to tell me it was the drinks at the top of the bill. We paid for our drinks at the bar earlier. I tried to remind her of that and she walks away. Here come manager Linda and she also looks at the bill,seems annoyed by my questions, again says the extra 25, almost 30 is for the drinks. 3 of them at 5.99..still doesn't add up. I said that it not right and the math doesn't add up. She snatches the bill out of my hand and says ,"fine we will take the drinks off!" And walks away with the receipt .. nasty as hell. That's terrible customer service .. I wasn't looking for free stuff just didn't want to tip for the waitress who forgot us and was rude any time we asked for anything. The device added a tip and they didn't want to admit that. The bill was 153 and jumped to 182.00 when it completed the transaction. And Linda, you need better management skills. We went to the East Longmeadow 99 and had a great time. We went there not knowing what we were going to eat. We each decided on the cold lobster salad roll that was served with two sides. We each opted for French fries and Cole slaw. The lobster salad was served in an overstuffed hot dog type bun with recognizable pieces of claw and tail. The ff were piping hot and the Cole slaw was cold and tasty. Our server, a young man (sorry I forget his name) was pleasant and very attentive. This was easily our worst experience by far at any 99 Restaurant. We arrived on New Year's Eve at 4:15 PM because we knew it would be a busy dinner rush. There was plenty of parking and we were seated quickly by a very nice young host. The dining room was a 1/4 full. Plenty of open tables. Our waitress, Jenny , took quite a while to greet us. She did not bring popcorn. We had to ask. My MIL ordered an espresso martini (very good but no whipped cream offered or given). I had a strawberry lemon spritzer - also good. My MIL ordered the Chicken Marsala special. It was already 86'd. As was the chicken fettuccine. She ordered chicken parm instead. I have a gluten allergy and told Jenny. I ordered the balsamic chicken. She never informed the kitchen of my allergy. Usually I see the note on the receipt - no notice to the kitchen. After 45 minutes, and no sight of Jenny, we asked the very nice host to check on our meal. He returned with our plates a few minutes later. The manager typically delivers my allergy meal. There was no manager in site. The pasta for the chicken parm was cold. The pasta sauce was minimal. The chicken was good and there was plenty of chicken, but overall the dinner was 'ehh'. My balsamic chicken was fine. Potatoes were very good. Broccoli was hard and cold. We normally get dessert, but we decided to cut out losses. We flagged down Jenny, who had our check already printed and in her apron. As we were getting ready to leave, I could hear another patron on the other side of the dining room, complaining to her waitress, saying she wanted the dinner taken off their check and they didn't want a free dessert. Sounds like everyone was having a bad night. Our food was subpar tonight and the waitress was awful. I recognize that it was New Year's Eve, but we came early. The East Longmeadow restaurant was woefully unprepared. But, we love The 99 Restaurant, and we will return again. read more

This review isn't for food. Or ambiance. Or location. This review is for the hostess (I regret not learning her name), who captured one of the most memorable moments in my life. My grandfather is a historical figure- literally- in the Springfield area. He turned 102(!) last month, and my extended family organized a lunch together at this location. Due to life, a marriage, a child, and the pandemic, I have not been able to visit with my grandfather since 2012. I contacted this location to ensure this was where the party would be and planned a trip from California to surprise my grandfather and family. When I arrived, I asked the hostess if she would mind to film the moment. What she captured was nothing short of amazing, and even she was misty-eyed. If I can give it a negative zero I would!!! Went in for late dinner around 8pm for valentines! First time there since it was by the area I was in. Service was good gave us pop corn but the floor was dirty and messy pop corn all over the floor they sat us in the corner by the exit emergency door. We order our food since not much selections. I order the everyday meal with chicken teriyaki/corn/mash potatoes. Food finally came out!! It looked delicious! I tried the sauce with mash potatoes and it had a kick into it. Once I cut into my chicken breast. I was so upset! The chicken breast was raw!!!!! Mind you they sat us by the exit door it was dark. I turn my phone flash light on to check the chicken it was barely cooked!!!! Not even an inch from the outside of the chicken breast was cooked!!!! It was cold and raw inside and pink like it was still breathing! It literally made me not even hungry anymore. How are you a cook and send out food that's raw!! Had to get the host from the front to get the manager. She offered other food to be replaced or dessert. I didn't take any other food since if they made raw chicken breast what else would they cook that is raw. She offered us large cookie tray didn't want it either but my friend suggested we just take the cookie. They took all the meal price off our tab but the chicken sandwich my friend order and our 2 fountain drinks. Came up to $21 gave tip. I would honestly never go back there again. You can't beat the lobster roll, coleslaw and wonderful fries! Enjoyed a nice glass of Pino Grigio and of course a little pop corn. Hubby enjoyed his Sirloin tips and fries. I stopped in for lunch on Father's Day and my buddy and I agree it was the quickest lunch we have ever had there. I partially think it's because I didn't spoil myself and do a 3 course meal but regardless we were in and out in under 30 minutes. I ordered their applewood smoked grilled chicken sandwich with broccoli (trying to eat healthy) rather than fries. Not a fan of the portion sized sides which is the norm for a majority of restaurants now a days but could have used another 6-10 bites of broccoli on my plate. I was shocked that the bacon in the sandwich was cooked crispy how I like it. I usually have to ask but was stoked that they cooked it to my liking despite forgetting to ask. My only complaint today was it was cold but after ten minutes I adjusted to it and was missed as soon as I stepped outside. Overall I enjoy coming to this 99 location the most outside of the ski season. It's a stone throw away from where I live in Monson, always clean, great friendly service, and can typically be in and out when not screwing around with menu options, etc. There is lots of parking too despite being in a plaza which some of the locations do not have. If you have never been to a 99 before this one is a good one to stop in for a beverage and a meal. read more

I am writing to you concerning a recent ridiculously disrespectful phone order attempt I made on Monday November 18, 2024. I grew up in East Longmeadow but have been living and working as a teacher in New Jersey for the past 24 years. I had come to East Longmeadow to assist my elderly father who was having surgery. As he and I both enjoy 99 Restaurant's Country Chicken entree, we decided to call in an order. I did not have the menu in front of me nor did I have the computer open either. When the young man on the phone asked what I would like, I mistakenly referred to the entree as the Southern Chicken. He was understandably confused at first and explained that there was no such dish on the menu, only a Santa Fe Chicken bowl. I explained that it was a chicken breast with two sides and a biscuit. He said he had to get his supervisor. The young woman who took the phone said they looked through the menu and that there was no Santa Fe Chicken. I told her I did not ask for a Santa Fe Chicken and before I could explain what I was looking for she abruptly barked, "You don't need to be rude about it!" I did not think I was rude, but she interpreted it that way. I then said, "I tell you what, I will look it up on the..." She cut me off and rudely announced, "You know, I'm not going to listen to anything you say!" and she hung up on me. Clearly there was miscommunication and misunderstanding on the phone. However, being treated disrespectfully and being hung up on is no way to run a business. Consequently, I nor any members of my family, friends, and extensive list of colleagues will ever be visiting the 99 Restaurant in East Longmeadow, MA or any other 99 Restaurant ever again. We got the chicken parmigiana family meal. It's was great. Lots of food. Five pieces of chicken, a large tray of penne with marinara sauce, 3 large rolls and 2 large garden salads. Three of us ate 3 pieces of chicken, 1 1/2 rolls and less than 1/2 of the pasta and were full. Didn't even touch the salads. We'll get another meal out of it. I met my buddy here for our monthly lunch. We have had good experiences here before, so we thought we'd go again. We were seated promptly in a booth, and a waitress came over and took our order. She then brought over a bowl of popcorn and the drinks we had ordered. She was very courteous. In a short amount of time, somebody from the kitchen showed up carrying our meals. I had ordered the Sundried Tomato Chicken Kabobs, consisting of sundried-tomato-marinated chicken tip skewers, flame broiled and topped with roasted grape tomatoes. Served with rice. From the outset, the chicken looked good and tasted good too. The grape tomatoes, however, looked a little strange, and didn't have a healthy red color. I ate them anyway. Well, that was a mistake. To make a long story short, halfway on my drive home, I realized that I needed to find a bathroom -- fast! Luckily, I live less than 10 minutes from the restaurant and was able to hold it in until I got home. Without getting into too much graphic detail, I had really bad case of diarrhea. I thought that was the end of it, but about an hour later, the diarrhea came back. I felt uncomfortable for the rest of the day. If you want a quick in and out sit at the bar, the service is good the price point for salads, sandwiches or wraps are $8.50 - $10 and dinners on average are $14. Over all, the 99 R&P does a very consistent job no matter which location you choose. I believe they more than hold their own against the independents in their food-service category which I would define as elevated Pub Grub or Tavern Fare. I rarely sit in the restaurant so I can't comment on the service there but my experiences have always been positive when dining at the bar. If you can't decide what you want to eat, the 99 menu has a little something for everybody, you'll find it's tasty and won't clock your pocketbook. read more

I'm giving Friendly's in East Longmeadow one star because Yelp is asking, but they don't deserve it!!! On 1/26 our party of nine went to celebrate my grand daughter's birthday. 99 is her favorite restaurant. I'm disappointed because our prior visits were always great! Not sure if there was a miscommunication between the host and our server, but we waited over half an hour for our server to come to the table, not identify himself, and ask for our drinks. We told him and in the process as we were excited to celebrate, mentioned our grand daughter's birthday. No Happy Birthday was said, just "oh she'll get a free dessert." Over half an hour wait for our drinks to be served. Our server came back with the drinks minus two because he forgot what they were. We then ordered our food. We stayed because our grand daughter was set on dinner here. Close to an hour wait for our food! Our server disappeared after he brought the two drinks he forgot. No manager came to our table to say hey we're sorry, running behind, nothing! An older couple were sat near us. They waited like 15 minutes and no service, so the lady got up went to the host, and they were sat on the opposite side of the restaurant, The female server there was on her grind! We got up after two hours to pay for the drinks and leave. This was when the female manager came out with the server saying are you sure? Your food is ready! We said thanks but no thanks! After eating here a few years ago and being thoroughly disgusted after finding a dead fly in my salad I promised never to return. The manager was very apologetic and comped our whole meal, but that lasting memory haunted me. While in East Longmeadow today, I decided to use a $15 gift card for 99 that's been in my wallet forever. Still thinking about that fly, and still uneasy, I entered The Ninety-Nine. Our waiter was a socially awkward lad, but still delivered decent albeit nervous service. However, he was lacking the required thirty pieces of flare designated by management. The interior changed a bit since my last visit. A wall was taken down and all the local sports pictures removed to make way for professional sports team pictures. We ordered the boneless buffalo wings which were pretty good. I had the BBQ burger which came out medium-rare, and then I realized the waiter never asked me how I wanted it cooked. I still ate it, and hopefully I won't get a tapeworm. My wife the fish & chips. The verdict: burger was decent and I'd get it again. Coleslaw was dry and bland. The wings were the highlight. Fish & chips were mediocre, with the fish batter being extremely salty, and the fries being salt less. This place gives me the odd feeling as if I'm eating in the actual restaurant the movie "Waiting" was filmed in. It seems so cliched and fake, like there's some hidden joke I'm not in on. One of our favorite places to go out to eat! We've always had friendly waitstaff and the food's always been excellent! Want to try something great? Go for the filet mignon. That was the most tender piece of beef I've ever had. It also came topped with bleu cheese and a dollop of applewood smoked bacon butter with grilled asparagus on the side and some french fries dusted with powdered Parmesan cheese. It was a bit pricey, but it was delicious! You also can't go wrong with their smothered tips and the gold fever wings are excellent as well. Everytime I go here I always wish for more. When I was younger I was pumped to grab a bite here, but everytime I come now I leave unsatisfied. The staff at this location has always been spot on, friendly and attentive. I'll give them that for sure. But the food and prices leave me asking, 'Why did I come here again?'. My mom in law had a 4.99 margarita that she enjoyed, so that and the service is the only positive's I'll pull from this. My sun-dried tomato chicken salad was mediocre. Small, pretty flavorless chicken chunks over a garden salad. Tried to dunk them in my dressing but that didn't help any. To their disadvantage I am a dressing snob. Nonetheless I was starving so ate it anyway. Mom's fish was small, and she had to choose two sides or one side salad for her meal options. She opted for one side salad. I haven't heard many good reviews of this place, but I've been there a few times and each experience was a positive one. You get as much free popcorn as you want before your meal comes. They've even got those cream-based soups I love so much. Most restaurants don't have seafood chowder etc. They have bubble green tea as well. Who else has that? When we finally received our food it was the wrong order. I asked to speak to the manager and the General Manager came over and she was very rude and unprofessional. We stopped there on Sunday at an early time when it wasn't busy, around 4:05. We had to be in Springfield at 5:30 and gave ourselves buffer time. We were seated pretty quickly. We were looking at the menu and decided what we wanted and then realized we had been sitting there around 10 mins and the server hadn't stopped by. We had not seen him or her even once. No acknowledgement. No, "I'll be right with you." We waited a couple more minutes and then got up and left. If it took that long to even meet our server when it wasn't even busy, we were not optimistic the food would arrive on time. We got up and left. As we were leaving, the clueless hostess who seated us said, "Have a nice day" and didn't even seem to realize that she had only seated us a few minutes earlier. Fiesta grilled chicken salad had weird aftertaste from chicken & pineapple. Tomato was a grilled barely ripe Roma. Sparse sprinkling of cilantro, beans and corn. Never found enough vinaigrette to judge its flavor. Broccoli cheddar soup tasted like creamy canned. Kids had chicken tenders and fries...nothing fancy there. Terrible service! I mean literally the worst service I have ever had. No silverware on the table. Just 2 napkins and 2 butter knives. There were 4 in our party. We never did get the silverware. My girlfriend had to ask for a fork for her salad again. The waitress was the worst only saw her twice. Our food was delivered by someone else. Was not asked if I wanted another beer. Was finally able to order another beer from the bar manager but was then forced to wait another 15 minutes to get it after asking for the waitress and the beer.
