Just left there with my grandmother. Food was ok - not bad but also not good. Definitely fitting for a chain restaurant. What was horrifying however was the mice that were running by our feet just as we were about to leave. We alerted staff to let them know about the mouse we saw and they said they would get management but no one seemed concerned. The mouse was there long enough to take a picture which tells me they've been around awhile since they aren't afraid of people. Definitely something for corporate to look into and show a little more concern about. Definitely won't be returning. read more

I ordered the so called Seafood chowder, Ii was suppose to have scallops, fish,clams, and shrimp. Our server was excellent and very friendly and efficient. I got fish and chips and the fish was so bland that even after smothering it with malt vinegar over and over again, it never had any flavor. After a lazy day at the hotel on the first Saturday of summer (very cold), I decided to venture out for a meal. After perusing YELP and not being very impressed with the restaurant choices in the area, I settled for what I expected to be a standard fried chicken and mashed potato dinner. The venue was crowded with families and couples on this Saturday at 6 pm so I opted for seating at the bar. My server was quick to greet me and take my order. I started with a seafood chowder. It was an adequate cream based soup with several types of seafood listed on the menu. The only one I seemed to taste were the very chewy clams. Adding salt and pepper did little to add to the flavor. My entree arrived. I could not believe what I saw. Maybe it's a New England thing. My chicken was fried (a boneless breast), but it was sitting on top of the steaming mashed potatoes and covered with some kind of white gravy. My expectation of fried chicken is, first of all, bone in, unleaded specified boneless on the menu, and very crispy coating. I was initially disappointed that I could not pick up my chicken and enjoy that first crunchy bite and that it had been covered in a sauce/gravy was beyond my comprehension. To be fair, the chicken was seasoned well and what I was able to eat of the crunchy coating was good. The gravy was tasty - not a country gravy or a brown gravy, but a white thin gravy with a hint of lemon. Though tasty, I don't think I'd order again when I want FRIED chicken. There was something on the plate posing as a "biscuit". I'm not sure what it was in actuality, but it was NOT a biscuit. It had some kind of glaze (honey?) on it. It was not flaky or tender but very dense. Though the meal did not meet my personal expectations for a fried chicken dinner, it had good flavor and I ate it all - except for the biscuit. Went to dinner on Sunday three people. All of us were disappointed in our meals. We were greeted at the door by a very pleasant, younger man and seated within 10 minutes, which was great. Our waiter on the other hand was very friendly, but he should have been doing a different job, he was extremely. I'm not sure what the words will be casual. Shall we say placing other people dirty dishes on our table while he took our order. Yuck! Our party had two salads and a burger with fries. The salad looked better at the hospital cafeteria. The burger that was supposed to be medium was well done and it looked like half the fries were missing. The chicken on the salads that was to be grilled look like chicken jerky super dry. Well, 99 is not fine dining but it usually has been consistent and you felt like what you paid for your meal was definitely worth it. But not this time big disappointment. read more

I just wanted to say that this is another restaurant that takes door dash orders and doenst have any care about getting orders out when they are supposed to. as a door dasher, waiting 15 minutes EVERY TIME for my order is very annoying and costs me significant amounts of money, and then to have the people at this restaurant give me attitude for asking if my food is ready is just salt in the wounds. My third time here and this place is steadily mediocre. We eat here when we are in Burlingtonfor business, I don't have high expectations out of most chain restaurants. Today however was not great. My chicken fajita dinner came with barely any pico on it even though it was listed on the menu, it was sparsely sprinkled, corn was a bit burned but i figured that wasn't such a big deal. Overall it tasted good, would have been better if it actually came with pico. My frozen margarita came with sugar only on half of the glass rim the other half was bare. Not a sprinkle of sugar on one side. Kids meal and hubby's meal came with fries but they were soaked in grese and gave the impression of second day freshness. Our server forgot a lot of things. Hubby said his dinner overall was fine. This place is friendly towards kids, staff was friendly, bathroom clean. On a hunt for a new place to try, my boyfriend and I stopped at Ninety Nine, a casual chain restaurant. There's a bar at one end, and high booths at the other. The menu is pretty vast, and reasonably priced. I started with the tomato basil soup ($3.80), served with oyster crackers - the tomato flavour was rich, but it wasn't very basil-y, and was just warm. I also had the tropical chicken salad ($10), a grilled marinated chicken breast on a bed of greens. It was topped with pecans, which added a nice crunch, a few mandarin pieces, cabbage and julienned carrots. The ginger dressing was good. My boyfriend had the sirloin with blue cheese and sauteed mushrooms, which nicely complemented the steak ($10!). Service was friendly and fast. read more

I went for lunch with a friend. The choices were mostly unhealthy - plenty of fried and rich foods, potatoes, creamy sauces, and way too much on the plate. In addition to my chicken strips and salad dish, I ordered an ice tea. I was asked whether I want it sweetened or plain. I don't know why someone else has to put sweetener in my beverage and take away my choice of how much or how little sugar I want in it. Well went back a second time to see if the first time was a fluke never got my gift certificate in the mail which I waited for over a month for. So here we go again. Took my girl back to 99 to order some dinner I ordered the steak medium well done and she ordered shrimp and Mac and cheese. So her food came out pretty much perfect and my steak dinner not so much I'm not a picky eater at all I love food in general but when I order my food I like it to be cooked all the way just to be safe unless I'm home then I'll take it medium/rare. So her food was good and my order wasn't as much so. It wasn't cooked the way I asked and then to my surprise my girl found a long blonde hair in the food which wasn't ours since we both have purple and green dyed hair... the manager on took the meal off the bill which was nice. This was our second time ever trying 99 restaurants ever and both times a disaster. We took our food to go and left our waiter the rest of our 50 dollar gift card as a tip we both decided we were probably not going to try a third try here since both times turned out so bad. So my review is for this one not all 99 restaurants. I work in the food industry for over 20 years and I'm a foodie at heart so this really got me upset. If you choose to go here do it at your own risk. But we will just stick to Applebee's or chili's for a quick fix. I don't understand how 99 can advertise that they are now accepting online orders but don't have adequate designated spots for said service. My bf and I have ordered to go from here a couple of times now and each time we have had to park and go inside to get my to go order because during the dinner rush people like to park in the spots that claim to be for to go orders. My advice would be to add more spots or have them policed so people who are opting for takeout don't have to go inside to retrieve their food. read more

Recently visited this establishment with some of my undergraduate classmates. I would like to preface the bad news with good news: the service at this restaurant is absolutely impeccable. Our female waiter, India, was phenomenal and accommodated all of our special needs, especially since one of our friends has many debilitating food allergies. The house margaritas were tasty and cheap also! Time for the bad news... the meat. The meat here is pretty heinous, especially the boneless chicken wings/tenders. One member of our group even got a largely uncooked piece of steak tip when he specifically ordered well done. My wife ordered nachos, and they were cold, felt glued to the plate, with a drizzle of cheap salsa. They were litterly in a solid mass, difficult to separate and tasted bad. Me and my sister Stopped by after hearing good news with my heart issue to have some lunch. Great Service by far! Our waitress , sorry forget her name, a little older lady probably working the lunch shift, on June 29th 2018, was awesome. Drinks came out great, food was great and filling!! I commented that everyone was doing awesome to my sister, from the waitresses to the bussers/waiters!!! Our bill was just under 30 dollars, and gave her a good tip of 15. Not sure how tips are done whether everyone has a piece of the action or it goes directly to the server/waitress/waiter. Hope she got the 15 dollar tip!! Great Job! read more

Group of three of us went here last Sunday early afternoon. Place wasn't too busy and were seated quickly (two adults and 3 year old child). Waitress comes over to our table and tells us "Boy, did you come in on a bad day, we're out of almost everything!" She then proceeds to tell us that the weather was good and they've were busy all day and sold almost everything. Then she wipes her brow as she looks at the menu on our table, and says "I'm glad the hostess didn't give you the specials menu because there's almost nothing left". My girlfriend and I look at each other like why are they even open if they have no food? So I order and All American Burger (cooked medium and waitress confirmed cool pink center) and my girlfriend ordered some chicken tenders. We both ordered sodas, and asked the waitress if she'd recommend a Shirley temple or juice for the kids meal. She recommended juice and we went with that. Waitress came back with 4 drinks. She immediately notices and says "just keep the Shirley temple I won't charge you for it". Then our food arrives and our waitress asks if we want anything else. I asked if she could bring two waters and she agreed. I then bite into my burger and it is beyond well done...anemic gray all the way through and dry as a bone. I told my girlfriend I can't eat this. I'll wait till she comes back with our water and send it back. Well...guess what? Never saw the waitress again! Saw her head in the kitchen a couple times and head over to an area by the bar where employees congregate a couple times but could not get her attention. After about 15 minutes, I'm starving...I gave up and took a couple bites of the hammered burger and ate the fries. 30 minutes go by and still no waitress. Now we have have finished our sodas and dying of thirst. We put our empty cups on the side of the table hoping our waitress or anybody working there might offer us a refill. Nope. We were so thirsty we started acting delirious and randomly looking into space saying "yes, I'll take another diet". The people next to us even noticed we were screwed, and offered to help us flag someone down since they were closer to the bar. So now about an hour later our waitress shows up with our bill, tosses it on the table and says I'll take this whenever you're ready and walks off. I was absolutely flabbergasted she could care less that we had nothing to drink and why I didn't like my burger? Then I look at the bill (just as I thought it couldn't get any worse!) and she had the audacity to charge us for the 4th drink we didn't ask for. I guess it's just a place designed for tourists. Give us your money and get out! You had a chance and lost a local's business. I won't give one star because I liked the fries and the hostess was nice. I've been coming to 99 for many years, and the past year I've noticed a decline in the quality of the food. Tonight my boyfriend and I decided to splurge and get the prime rib. We were both very disappointed. The meat was flavorless, hardly seasoned. But worse then that was the overwhelming smell of bleach, I thought at first it was the meat. But after sniffing everything it turns out the steak knives were so smelly my hands smelled like bleach. We mentioned the disappointment in the prime rib, but me having social anxiety I felt funny asking for something different. Hope they improve soon. read more
