When we arrived, I noticed some defects on the exterior of the building. My instincts told me something was off, but we decided to go in anyway. Once inside, we were pleasantly surprised by the decor. Kudos to the interior decorating. We ordered drinks, but our first attempt at an Old Fashioned didn't taste right, so we sent it back. The waitress explained that their "version" of the classic cocktail included muddled orange. For our second drink, we tried a Jack and Coke, but it also had an odd taste. It could have been a dirty glass or possibly tainted ice cubes--something just wasn't right with the beverages. We ordered two appetizers. The first was Bourbon BBQ tenders, which were tasty, but there was way too much sauce on them. I recommend serving the sauces on the side. The second appetizer was chicken quesadillas, which were unusual but not bad; they resembled something my kids might create, filled with bacon and possibly mango. Overall, this place is a one-and-done for us. My wife thinks we had a similar experience at a restaurant in Sudbury. read more

I have never written a yelp review before in my life but this place made me want to. I have absolutely no complaints. Service was fast and friendly, the lights were at the perfect setting to see but also not glaring in your face. The beer was fantastic, we got a coffee porter and an orange ale. For entrees, we got the truffle mac and cheese which is quite possibly the best mac and cheese I have ever had, a burger and tots, and the salmon with tons of amazing veggies as a side. Pros: - Modern rustic vibe (think exposed wood, modern lighting fixtures and leaning into earth tones to complement the wood) - Friendly waitress - Good food options and decent portions - Fair pricing - DELICIOUS onion rings - Not the best blue cheese but it was good - Burger cooked to perfection - The beer cheese was tasty - Pretzels were just salty enough - Chicken tenders were crisped just right Cons: - Not heavy handed on sauces (Our BBQ bourbon burger barely had any sauce on it and I love me some sauce!) - Most of the garlic parm flavor on the tenders was a pile under the tenders on the plate (I had to dip onto the plate for flavor) This place is putting out some good stuff. Oak Barrel Tavern had a rustic comfy feel with a good sized bar with what appeared to have a good selection of beers , wine and cocktails. I'll get right to it and will say the potato nachos were a good portion , big enough to share. If this was my meal I would've added chicken. The southwest salad , again , big portion (great in my book) was packed with flavor I barely needed to add the yummy dressing. All ingredients in the salad were absolutely fresh. Very pleased with our dinner. Me and my mother stopped here on our way back from our Montreal trip because we saw them on Phantom Gourmet. I got the pulled pork sandwich ($15) and for $2 extra I had onion rings on the side. The pork was tender, the bun was great and it was a decent size. But the onion rings were out of this world! So crispy and it had that nostalgic, diner taste to it. We shared some chicken wings for an appetizer ($13). 8 wings came with the order and they were cooked well and juicy. However, we didn't like the BBQ sauce they were tossed in. It almost didn't taste like BBQ sauce and it was way too heavy on the ketchup. If had no sweetness. My mom's entrée was the tavern harvest grain bowl ($15). It had a bunch of healthy stuff on there, but the portion was huge and I had to finish it for her. It would be kind of boring if it wasn't for the amazing ginger sauce they serve with it. My mom ordered a peanut butter stout for $6.50 and I ordered there shark bite cocktail for $10. The stout was really good, but I wasn't a fan of my drink. It tasted water down and I couldn't taste the alcohol. This restaurant is a really cool place to hang out and our server was so sweet and very attentive. read more

I stopped here on my way home from MA for dinner. The food was good and our service was great. Any questions we had about the menu were answered and she was great to talk to. The restaurant was clean and looked like a great place to come hang out. There were TVs on and we watched some of the Olympics. The food is good but the standouts were the dessert and the Buffalo Trace whiskey flight. It was a long trip home and this was a treat to ease the drive. read more

Not sure if they were just having an off night or what but I wasn't impressed. My husband and I came a few times about 5 or 6 years ago and had fond memories. When a group of friends decided to get together for dinner on Friday night, we figured this would be a great place! They sat us at a high top table and they were immediately notified there would be a toddler who needed a high chair. Instead of moving us, they gave us a booster that didn't have a buckle and said the only other option would be a high chair that would be short compared to the table. We ordered 3 apps for the table and they were all just okay. I wasn't a fan of the fried pickles & peppers. The onion rings were good and there were a ton of them. The spin dip was alright. I got the steak & broccoli Alfredo bowl and it was very meh. The steak was okay the Alfredo was super watery and the broccoli was plainly steamed (probably from a microwave bag). The bottom of the pastrami sandwich my husband got was soggy. The waitress was nice and checked in on us frequently. But the food was not good enough to warrant a return. read more

I hadn't ever been before and it was clean and beautifully designed with very kind staff and delicious food. We tried the mozzarella sticks, seasonal cocktails, truffle mac and cheese and the teriyaki chicken dinner. The only complaint I have is there was a tiny bit of ham in my dinner which I didn't order. I got chicken added to the macaroni and it was perfect but I did taste pork halfway through. I forgot to take a picture but I had to take it out of my dish because I don't eat pork. read more

The food here is always fresh, hot and delicious. Service is top notch. Pleasant atmosphere and accepts reservations. Things to try, the Buffalo chicken dip, fried pickles and peppers and Bavarian pretzels for apps. Steak tips, fish and chips and meatloaf for entrees. Chocolate chip lava for dessert! Randomly popped into this place for lunch and will definitely be coming back. Great ambiance with comfortable bar seats and plenty of high tops. The bartender we had was very attentive and friendly and had some great recommendations. I could t decide between Buffalo and a OBT signature chicken tender sauce, and he did half and half for me at no charge so i could try both! The burger was also great - and not too massive which is a plus. Appetizers were in the $10-15 range and entrees were about $15-25. The burgers' were cooked correctly but desperately in need of salt/pepper, because they tasted bland. The burgers also appeared pre-made, rather than made on-site. I really like this place. We've been here 8-10 times at this point. The food is fairly consistent (I have always liked my meals, but my friends sometimes don't have as much luck). I like their pretzel bites, chicken sandwiches, and burgers - it's a cool touch to have the OBT logo on the buns. Their dessert menu also has a few great options. Drinks are pretty good, and they have cute seasonal cocktails. Service is decent, but I haven't found the host/hostesses very friendly or welcoming - they seem as though they are sometimes annoyed they need to sit people, especially if you have more than 2 people in your party - but maybe they've been having off evenings when I've been there. My only criticisms would be the size of their soft drink cups (which it looks like they have improved, yay!!) and their closing time of 9pm SHARP. If they wish to close at this time, they should stop seating tables a lot earlier than they do. There isn't much communication about last call from the bar (this also includes refills for soft drinks) or last call for the kitchen. One time, we were not able to order dessert because the kitchen had closed - but our waitress never warned us of this. Most recently, we ordered/ate our food in 45 mins, which I think is very speedy, but I still felt rushed by the staff. Our server seemed more focused on cleaning than service, they turned off the music to ensure our quick exit, and stared at us as we walked out at 9:05. I really expected better service for the price of the food. Not sure if I'll be back any time soon, but I'd still recommend them for an early dinner or lunch. read more

Came here with customers for a business lunch. I could tell some of the other people in the party have been here frequently, so I usually take that as a good sign when they are willing to come back. Our waitress was very friendly. We were seated quickly and properly attended to. There was a few options that appealed to me on the menu but I decided to settle on the fried fish tacos. The tacos came out very nice. While fried fish isn't the healthiest option, I honestly don't think it would have factored too much if I had opted for grilled fish in terms to overall taste.
