I had a nightmare experience with 2tech Auto in chico Ca, (read the yelp review its an entertaining review) and only 2 hours left on my breathalyzer till it locked out my car, this was from disconnecting the battery which is apparently not allowed. I did so cause the unit was draining the battery at night to keep itself warm in the cold. Nevertheless I called 99smog and Tune and he said come on out with no appointment, which saved me a 300$ tow if he had said make an appointment my car would have locked out. When I got there they were very sympathetic towards my situation and had me out of there in 15 minutes. I couldnt have expected them to show more empathy and kindness from what had endured at 2tech auto. They charge less than most places and their minimum is only 55$. Its a nice drive to Gridley 20 minutes if you live in Chico go to to these guys. Very professional worth the drive. read more

Really professional and clean. I had rotors/breaks replaced, oil change, and a tune up. I think it only took about two hours. I've been to a few mechanics around here and these guys are the best so far. Will definitely go back when my car needs a service in the future. read more

I took my car in to have the breaks looked at. I was told my master cylinder and booster had to be fixed. They had my car LITERALLY over a month. When I got my car back it still felt weird. I figured I was just not used to it and left it. A couple months later, It was riding rough so I took it to Auto zone to change out filters. FIRST my air filter was NOT even attached to my car! It was sitting in the well but not connected! so then after fixing that, it was still rough and we were going to take it to a different mechanic and have them look at it they said it was spark plugs and coils and that we should have a system flush also so we told them to go ahead while they were doing the work they discovered that my master cylinder and booster had not been worked on and it had a significant issue!! So when I put it into 99 smog they didn't even do the work, There were parts that were not even connected to my car and even parts that were not connected correctly! but they had my car for over a month! Not OK especially since they took my mother-in-law's money! And now we are having to do thousands of dollars of extra repair work and the initial work I tried to have 99 smog do! I will never take my car there again and I will never let my family do it either! read more

Girlfriend went in for smog certification and it did not pass which is fine. Had to reset the monitors is what Glenn said which he was right and even gave her a drive cycle reference sheet, very nice first visit. charged her 40$ and said if he fixed it he would only charge her 20$ more. After a couple days and a drive cycle her monitors came back on. She went back where glen told her it would be another 50$ to smog her truck instead of the 20$ from before. After she asked for her keys back because she wanted to go somewhere else he threw them across the desk at her and said "take it and don't come back" my guess is that he thought he could take advantage of her because she is woman. Needed smog but Check Engine light was on , so he tested it partially, and said it needed to be driven! We had just fixed the issue prior, but his machine detects prior check engine, so we needed to drive a little bit more. We were told to come back after driving 60 miles, so my son took off work for a half a day to take it in, and the machine was broke! We again had to reschedule, which was not for two weeks. The machine was still broke, and so two weeks after that we went in and everything went smooth, however he charged me for another smog and then gave me a $20 discount so it ended up costing 70+ dollars to get the smog ! We have been customers of his and I felt that his machine being broke and my son having to take off work continuously should have been an even trade! Guy behind the counter is a mechanic. Mechanics are not known for being kind and sweet and massaging people's egos when it comes to things wrong with your car. They tell it like it is, mostly facts, a little empathy, but mostly facts. I have had several cars smogged here, it was quick, efficient and a good price. I have also asked some advice and had spot on knowledgeable responses. If you are looking for fluffy sales people who are going to ever so gently explain your car is broke then this might not be your place (but you should know your car is broke you just took it to a mechanic). If you are looking for skilled mechanics to actually fix your car and not sit in the parking lot with you crying about how it sucks that you have to spend money to fix your car then come here. read more

I was surprised to read the negative reviews about this place. I've brought three vehicles here, two personal and one work vehicle, and have found their service to be quite good. To be honest, they aren't "go out of their way" friendly but I really don't care. I'd rather they spend time with my car rather than with me. Their prices are fair, their service is quick and appropriate, and I've always gotten my vehicle back better than when it went in. I suppose if you're looking for a place that will fluff your feelings there are better options, but if all you want is to have you car smogged or repaired, this place is a good choice. read more

I've had only the best experiences with Quintin and his father Glenn. My BMW has had every issue from window chips (Quintin has done a great job on those) to hoses to the coolant reservoir to even just a service. They've helped me out in every which way possible. I've come in right at closing time and even had my car towed there on a weekend. Very knowledgeable, very fair and very helpful. I'm confident that if I'm having an issue I can be sure I'm not getting "ripped off". Totally trustworthy and dependable people. So lucky to have them in my home town! I am really surprised by all the negative reviews on here because my experience with this shop has been nothing but the opposite for the past 5 years that I have been a customer. Glenn is the owner and has been in the business for decades. Him and his techs really know what they are doing when it comes to auto repair. I live over an hour away and will gladly make the trip to get my car looked at because I do not trust any of the shops in Sacramento where they will most likely overcharge me and upsale me because I am a girl who does not know much about cars. Martin, the head tech, always does an incredible job with my car and is very reliable, hard working, and very trustworthy. People drive as far as from the Bay Area to get their car looked at from this guy. This shop is also the nicest, well kept shop around and is always packed with cars which speaks to the high demand for the techs' uncomparable skillwork. There may be times when your car may take a bit longer to be picked up but I would rather have my car fixed properly than to be rushed and end up being worse in the long run. These guys really do care about their customers and providing quality repairs. If your car is not worth the repair, they will be honest with you and let you know. I HIGHLY recommend this shop. You will not be disappointed with the quality of work they provide. read more

This is got to be the worse review i have given on yelp and its no fun..I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt when it comes to customer service and treatment especially in the automovtive repair business and i understand that your not going to please everyone..in short im actually waiting for the onwer to call me back to issue a refund..its been a week and no effort as of yet...i believe there is at least a 2 week grace period you have to give a repair place to make good on their services before filing an offical complaint..so i will wait until then..so i will be back to finish my review..like i said dont like negative reviews and i when i encounter poor service like to give them a chance to reedeem themselves. I have been to 99 Smog a number of times and find the owners and the staff more than just courteous, they make you feel like family while they work on your car. After the alternator in my car had failed, I brought it to this shop to of course get repaired. This job took about 3 days which was completely fine. However, about 2 and half weeks later my alternator failed on me again leaving me stranded in the middle of a busy street. I had gotten it towed once again to this shop. Upon arriving, the owner, Glenn, was completely rude and, excuse my language, an asshole. He had my car for about 2 weeks and everyday I would call to check the status of my car, he would tell me that he got side tracked with other things and hadn't looked at my car yet. Finally, I was told that my battery and alternator were bad. Overall I do not recommend this place. I feel as though he doesn't know what he's doing and his customer service is horrible. If he was Kinder and more willing to help and provide information instead of leaving customers in the dark about their vehicles, the 2 week long wait for my car may have been acceptable. read more
