Mixed bag. We saw a billboard advertising 51 beers on tap. So we assumed this was a craft beer bar. Bad assumption. Our waiter knew nothing about beer. They were out of my wife and I's first choices. Waiter offered no replacement suggestions. The beer menu didn't label what type of beer each was. I had to use Untappd. And my beer was awful. Green chile philly was awesome. Very flavorful. Perfect amount of meat vs. cheese and veggies. The kids menu was cheap. But the pizza was damn near inedible. Disgusting. read more

We travel to Amarillo fairly regularly to visit family and always travel with our dog. Therefore, we are limited to dog-friendly restaurants and this is how we found J's. We don't just come back because our dog is allowed, we love the food and the beer selection. They are always great with the dog, even though he's a big German Shepherd, and always bring him plenty of water. This last time I had the Grilled Steak Salad and really loved it. If the tomatoes were ripe and had flavor, it would have been perfect. The steak was nicely seasoned and cooked very well. My husband had the Chicken Fried Steak and was very impressed. He thought the jalapeno gravy was an interesting (and tasty) twist and said it even compared to his favorite place in Phoenix. Even though we sit on the patio with the dog, the service is good and we don't feel forgotten about. The only downside to the patio is the traffic noise on Soncy, and I'm not sure what could be done about that, really, except make all the construction trucks take a different route! read more

I live just down the street from Jake's and have been very eager to try it. I noticed for the first week or so there were a lot of cars in the parking lot and then eventually there were always very few. This should have been my first clue. My second clue should have been when I arrived at the height of the lunch hour and the place was empty. The hostess seated us quickly (mostly, I assume, because the restaurant was bare). The server came by, took drink orders and brought them quickly. She did well as far as bringing items quickly and drinks constantly being refilled; however, she had zero personality. Not once did she ask how the food was or if we needed anything. My boyfriend and I ordered off the lunch menu. He the chipotle chicken sandwich and I the tomato basil flat bread pizza. The food looked excellent when it arrived, then we took a bite. His chicken was burnt and charred, and not in a good "blackened" way. The chicken tasted like a dirty grill, and had none of this chipotle sauce they speak of. He got onion rings for his side and they were the only redeeming thing about the meal. However, they tasted no better than would onion rings from a frozen bag at Walmart. He ate about half the sandwich and called it quits. My pizza tasted like feet. Don't get me wrong- I love tomato basil and love feta cheese! However, the ingredients tasted sour. I took two bites, hoping it might get better and my boyfriend took one bite. We asked for our check and felt so sick from the food we didn't even get food elsewhere. Not one time did ANYONE ask how our experience was. A different server cleared our plates for us and seeing that we barely touched it asked if we would like to go boxes. I emphatically said "no," and he took the plates without saying another word. We paid, walked out and no one said a word to us. Strange experience and we will never be back. read more

Ate a quick dinner at 7 bar and grill tonight. I had the spicy, chicken stir-fry. Had a nice flavor and filled with fresh vegetables. Others ordered burgers; the barbeque burger was great, cooked just right and the fries super crispy. Delicious. Pasta dish was ok, basically an alfredo sauce with some tomatoes and cheese. Tasted good but just a basic, plain dish. Server was attentive and helpful. I'll be back to sit on the patio and drink cocktails as soon as the weather is warmer. read more

Amazing, real, homemade food. It just doesn't get much better than this place. The cheese sticks are wonderful (and I'm not a cheese stick kind-of person) and the wings are great too. Came here late night after driving in from Phoenix. It was a fun and casual spot, just what we needed after driving for 11 hours. Steak was tender and cooked to her request (according to my sis), my veggie burger was pretty solid, and the fries had great texture. It's hard to find a place that serves up a delicious veggie patty, but this one was definitely in the top 3 of my list. The mash was suuuper creamy too, I loved it! read more

It was the only place open serving food and liquor so we decided to check it out. There were having some sort of party. The food was super good and the dos Equis was ice cold. The special for the night was $3 tall dos Equis. Can't beat that! I first ate at 7 because our apartments gave us a free appetizer coupon and I decided to get a bite to eat on my way home. My first impression of the restaurant when walking in was that it is particularly popular (the bar area was packed) and that they have quite the variety of patrons that go there. I saw a few tables of men in nice suits on one side of the restaurant and on the other were folks in jeans and collared shirts. It was pretty nice to see all sorts of people there having a nice time! So anyway, the hostess directed me back toward the bar to pick up my food. When I got back to the bar the bartender came over right away and asked "What can I do for you?" I ended up having a pretty awesome conversation with him about different micro breweries on the west coast and some of the better ones in Colorado. He told me that they generally have hockey and soccer games on their TV's as well (another huge bonus in my opinion) and that the taps rotate frequently as they try to get some decent seasonals. They generally have Deschutes and Sierra Nevada (which is a plus) and sometimes they will have Alaskan on tap. The service has been just as consistently stellar each time my husband and I have ventured back. Their take out food is also consistently very good as well. So service gets a 5/5 stars for me across the board! I've had the same waitress two or three times I've been in (when I sit in the booth section) and she was the sweetest lady ever (also a soccer fan which was a total plus)!! On to the food! The following dishes get 5/5 from me: Spicy Hummus Artichoke Spinach Dip Steaks (I like mine rare to medium-rare and they do it right every time!) Fajitas Every burger I've had (The sweet potato fries and spicy coleslaw are pretty tasty too) Fruit tart 4/5 Philly cheese steak 0/5 **Fish and chips (though keep in mind, when they say "chips" they don't actually mean England style chips, they mean french fries or actual American potato chips that they make in the restaurant that are very tasty) **I'm updating this part to a 0/5 because the last time I ordered the fish and chips (at the beginning of Feb.) I got breaded fish and stale french fries. If the breading is a permanent change I would strongly advise against ordering it because it was terrible. The breading was soggy, almost like Shake & Bake in both colour and consistency, and it fell off the fish. The breading they used before was very crisp and came out a golden brown in colour. -- My husband did get a burger and fries and his food came out very well. I had the spicy skillet fries as well and they were okay, but I don't think I'll be ordering them again. The only reason 7 gets a 4/5 stars is because the last time I went there and asked them to put on a soccer game some super rude guy decided to make a rather loud comment about it saying "Why are they putting on a sissy sport?"... Went here for Father's Day, arrived in Amarillo late around 10. We were referred here by our hotel as they are open till two am, on a Sunday (Texas' Blue Law being a Dry Country means no Alcohol sold in shops), on a holiday, and they serve so many types of beer! Started off with their 7 Sin spiced wings and home made potato chips served with chipotle ranch that was so good with a kick! Of course when in Texas you get a steak! We got the Ribeye steaks which were cooked perfectly, I suggest getting blue cheese on top and cooked Medium-Rare. Getting to meet the manager and have a true good conversation with him truly made it such a pleasant experience. Suggestions for the future visits include having the waiter/waitress' check up on drinks for a refill, other than that service and food was fantastic. When the waitress first came to the table, she asked what we wanted to drink. I stated I wasn't sure until I decided what I wanted to eat. We asked for a few minutes to decide. She returned very quickly and again asked what we wanted to drink, I told her we still needed a little more time. Her response was, well what do you want to drink? Again I repeated that once we know what we want to eat I will know what I want to drink. When she returned, all she wanted to know was what we wanted to drink. We ordered food and drinks. The food has gone downhill. It didn't just go downhill, it is at the bottom of the hill. Tasted like it came out of a can. Yuk!! I frequent 7 Bar & Grill. I enjoy the food, cold beers and the abundance of TV playing every sport available. I've had my hits and misses with their wait staff. Most of the time it is pleasant and fast, however there has been an occasional bad server. Overall, I enjoy the atmosphere and that's why I keep coming back. The prices are fair and it's a non smoking bar which is rare in Amarillo. Keep up the good service! read more

I really like Seven Bar & Grill. The menu isn't exactly French chic, but everything I've eaten there has been great. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I think there might be a lot of turn over there because often times the wait staff seems new and unsure of the menu, but somehow it adds to the ambience of the establishment in a good way. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to any of my friends that like a laid back atmosphere with a kind of bigger city class to it. The homemade potato chips are amazing by the way. And surprisingly enough, it's very reasonably priced all things considered. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

I held my wedding rehearsal dinner here and the staff went out of their way to make sure everyone was happy and well taken care of. The drink specials are also great, we love to have happy hour here!
