Just called and it rang 3 times then disconnected.............is this business open for business?

Went to get a key copied and found two guys in their late twenties (don't remember their names). I didn't have any expectations of good or bad treatment. Just expected them to get to the point like most locksmiths, but they were really courteous and helpful. They even referred me to the right store for services they couldn't provide. I'll definitely be going back to this store if I ever need locksmith services again. read more

I am very happy with their service. I have called them to my office on several occasions and every single time a professional gentleman (different ones) showed up and knew exactly what he was doing. They have changed our locks, made various keys and even gave helpful suggestions on improving the security and making the process better. I highly recommend them. We locked ourselves out this morning, called some friends to find out their recommendations. We called a friends' friend thinking he was a small business locksmith only to find out he works for A-1. He quoted us and had us call in the request to the office. They said it would be 2 hours before they could get onsite so we left to do some errands. Within 30 minutes the locksmith was calling to let us know he was 15 minutes away! Wow! That never happens with service techs! He got us back in for exactly the quoted amount. We'll be using them again but hoping we don't have to! :) read more

Purchased a Safe and installation from this company. The person who helped me (Jamie, I believe) was very knowledgeable about the Liberty Safe products and even helped us identify a model that I was previously unaware of that would site in the space we had available and provided many of the extras that we wanted. The installation process was just as great with the gentlemen who helped us being courteous and extremely efficient. They were in and out in like 30 minutes and really knew their safes. I could not be happier with a company than I was with this business! The key to my Honda Accord was in horrible condition. The key had come out of the remote and I had to tape the whole thing together in order to start my car. After researching the cost of replacement for the whole key(remote included) it would've run me anywhere from $150-200 dollars at the dealership. I took a chance on calling a locksmith to see if there was any chance I could get this done for a much cheaper price. After calling the mesquite store and explaining what the problem was, she transferred me to the Plano store. A gentleman named Jamie answered at that store and I explained what was going on with my key. He knew EXACTLY what I was talking about without even seeing the condition of the key. He assured me they could fix the problem and gave me a quote of a fraction of the dealership price(around 65 bucks!). Although the drive to Plano took about 45 min from where I live, it was WELL worth the drive. When I got to the store, Jamie was there to greet me and help me out with a smile. He was extremely friendly and said this was a frequent problem with this type of key. He dismantled the remote and showed me the components and what controls the car starting. He then put all those components into a new shell and cut another key. When he was finished, he walked out to my car to see if the remote worked and if the newly cut key would start my vehicle. It worked like NEW. I was so excited to be rid of that embarrassing taped key. A-1 made my weekend!! The whole process took less than 15 minutes from beginning to end. I would DEFINITELY recommend this locksmith to anyone in need of a replacement key. These folks save me lots of money and time. What more can you ask for from a GOOD business?!! read more

These guys did a great job reprogramming a Toyota Camry key for me. It cost me $50, but the dealership charges $200 for the same service. They also made me an electronic key without the remote functions for $80. Nice guys, largest locksmiths store I've been in. (They sell a lot of safes too). Will use again. read more

Locksmiths sometimes get a bad rap, but hopefully this story will warm your heart. I have an older Craftsman tool chest with a lot of sentimental value (it's a link between my daughter and her daddy who passed away) and had lost the key. When I called Sears they helped my find the key number on the lock but due to its age could not manufacture a key. I contacted A-1 Locksmith and gave them the information over the phone and they confirmed they had the blank key and could make. I told them I would come by later and have it made. When I arrived 30 minutes later the key was finished and waiting for me!!! They knew nothing about the backstory and how important it was to me. They just did it. This was such a huge blessing because I was quite stressed that day. The key was $12.50 and they could have lost that money. This is the type of good old-fashioned customer service that does our city proud. read more

I dealt with Colin, a solid pro who replaced and rekeyed three locks for us. Arrived when he said he would, which was on the early side of the time window indicated by the company. He took the time to make sure the the replacement locks didn't just lock, but that the door also opened and closed the best way possible by chiseling out additional space in the door frame (there was a little bit of a door sag after 15 years). I also liked that I got an immediate copy of my receipt via email, as their service technicians carry iPhones where they can punch in the order. Would use again. read more

I just spent the last 5 hours waiting for a locksmith that was 15minutes away everytime I spoke with the company. When I told the dispatcher I had been waiting and already spoken to some one 3 times that day, his response was "well you haven't talked to me." Don't even call anyone else! Professional, knowledgable, efficient.....I could go on and on. My father's old safe had accidentally been locked and he did not have the combination. I called a few other locksmiths and they quoted me higher prices and they would need to destroy the safe in order to get it open. A-1 could get get the job done by simply calling the safe manufacturer and getting the combination. How easy! Donnie even told me that I could contact the manufacturer myself. (It would just take 10 days or so after getting paperwork notarized.) No one else gave me that option. All for a much more affordable price! Call them first! read more

We locked ourselves out of our house one day, so we called A-1 Locksmith. It took a while for them to get a technician sent our way, but that's understandable because it was after 6pm on a weekend (when there's nothing to do but wait, just pop out your smartphone and start playing games, time will seem to fly). The technician that they sent was courteous, friendly and very professional, and he took security very seriously, and asked for my ID before proceeding with any work. They programmed a Smart Key for my Lexus RX350. The were very knowledgeable on the process, and they completed the task right there in about 5 minutes. FYI, they were also aware that pre-programmed keys need a system reset to work, and were willing to do that if needed. It would be an additional charge. I couldn't find any locksmith around, other than A-1, that was willing to do that. read more

lost a set of transponder keys for my 2013 ford flex. Dealer wanted $350 for a replacement plus i had to leave my car as i was told it would take a few hours. I contacted A-1 was quoted $200 and they would do it right away. The new key was identical to my original Ford key and works great. The people there were all very nice too, I would recommend them. read more

it's always refreshing to come into contact with a true professional. donnie at the plano location is such a find. his experience and knowledge combined with the actual desire to help, saved me $150 over a less experienced locksmith driving around in a 10 year old van. i will drive out of my way to go to donnie anytime i need lock/key/safe help. read more
