This towing company is absolutely the worst towing company I have ever encountered in 40 years. They refuse to tell you where your vehicle is located within 30 minutes which is the law, so thus a report to the Dept of Agriculture and Consumer Services is first appropriate; rather decide to tell you 4 and 1/2 hours later. Then they decide to tow your vehicle illegally mind you, with a police report in my hand, to a very very far location 40 miles away. Then whenever you call they let you know that they require a certain amount of exact cash money and that they are open 24 hours, and also state that they called "12 times with no answer" which is false evident by a call log. When you arrive, they are not open and when you call and politely ask when you may pick up the vehicle, the woman who answers the phone (and does not identify herself) says "the driver will call you" and hangs up on you. It is the absolute worst customer service, worst Towing company I've ever heard of and anyone that I know has ever encountered, and also they get paid under the table by Mr. George Cottom who lives at 1433 South Belcher Road Clearwater Florida 33764. He has the company Towing illegally. The issue is that the illegal part lands on Mr. George Cottom at that location, not A1 Towing. However, reading the previous reviews and knowing that A1 gets one star or less from anybody, shows they are the most irreputable company in the world and that is why they would accept cash under the table. Upon finally picking up my vehicle, $100 was stolen from my wallet as well as medication from my car. I was very polite by the way, and the first thing he says to me is "apparently the guy that had you towed doesn't like you very much at all and you should never go back there". And I asked him if that was normal business practice to say that to a customer who has a police report of illegal towing, OR ANY CUSTOMER FOR THAT MATTER, He replied that he doesn't know the man (if you can call him a man - George Cotton), however he tows cars for that person illegally on a regular basis, which is on the public Pinellas County Clerk of Courts website. The lawsuit will start as soon as tomorrow and anyone who is willing to join is more than welcome. The unidentified woman gave me the name "Aaron" as the manager. I feel only a law suit and a formal report to the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (which was suggested by numerous impound lots in Clearwater) is appropriate at this point. read more

First of all one of your vehicles where missing bumpers, expired tags, parts hanging off it and front seats un bolted. Would look stolen to anyone. Second your other vehicle is a personal truck and should not be used for the business that you work at. Please call your insurance company about this, I am sure they will tell you the same. Basically you are committing insurance fraud and this should be reported. You where charged exactly what the state and county allow towing services to charge. As far as towing more than 10 miles you need to read the Florida state statues the mileage goes as the crow flies, so they where well within the law. As far as the cops thinking they stole your vehicles there has to be intent which there was none, they have a contract, tow-a-way signs and called them into the police. I bet if those same cops pulled you over and gave you a ticket for expired tags and not having bumpers on your vehicle, you would call them a piece of crap. Which I really can't belive a grown adult would say " this piece of crap" but that's the world we leave in today. Also asking other towing services who are in competition with A-1 Recovery Inc about A-1 Recovery Inc. reputation should not even be given a second thought. Everyone in this whole world who is in competition with someone else will talk bad about that other person. So again before you start bad mouthing A-1 Recovery Inc or anyone else for that matter you should get your facts straight. Again just an outsider looking in. read more

My son had his car towed by this shady piece of shit towing company. At 5am on a Saturday he spoke to the dispatcher,who was clearly drunk and slurring his words, and told him he could pick up his car at 9am at 5500 Ulmerton Rd in Clearwater. We arrived a few minuets early and were greeted by an irate driver who screamed at us and told us to leave while shaking his finger at us like a crazy person. We had to call the dispatcher again, this time a sober one, who told us we would have to wait till he located the driver who towed the car and then wait for him to show up to retrieve the car. He wandered in at 10am and screwed around in the impound yard completely ignoring us. When asked for help we again were yelled at and told to wait until he was ready to take my sons money. We never once raised our voice or got upset. It seemed the more patient we were the more pissed off he got. These people have consieled weapons permits and act like they can't wait to use them. If you ever have an encounter with A1 recovery be careful there is nothing more dangerous than a uneducated dumbass tow truck driver with a license to carry. I hope you never have to deal with them. read more

Horrible scam of a company! I'm a retired 100% disabled veteran and was at Publix Memorial Day weekend Sunday in the handicap spot and it's obvious I'm a veteran as I have veteran flags on my Jeep and my disabled veteran plate yet as I always do once I went and grabbed a few things from the store and then walked over to the beach and came back to grab my wallet and grab some groceries on my way home, my Jeep was gone! Thinking it was stolen, I find out this company shitty pathetic company which takes advantage of people who park at Publix, obviously including those who shop there, and I hear the cops on 4x4s call them right after you leave your vehicle so be aware as no matter what, you'll be a victim if they choose you!
