Needed to see if it was possible to replace or fix the knobs on my stove. Unfortunately my stove top had other issues and required a little extra labor. Getting an appointment was easy and due to the fact that I live so close to ther location, I was able to get a quick visit. In fact due to other cancellations, I got it in minutes! Always awesome! Out technicians name was Daniel and he was very helpful and best of all respectful and friendly. Aside from giving me an honest opinion, he also gave me a few pointers as to what not to do in the future and avoid these issues. He first has to look into the parts I would need and then give me a full estimate. Once I got it, I decided I would get a new stove. Not because it was too much but because I personally think if you are going to spend that much, its better just to fully replace it. And I truly appreciated the full price breakdown of parts, labor and tax. We did pay for the estimate, which was more than fair. If ever I need help with anything other appliance, I will definitely be calling them again, and would happily recommend their services to my friends and family. read more

They can, they can actually do electronic work. The rest aren't or can't or wont. So... much appreciation. Being a busy solo entrepreneur, there aren't very many windows of time in my schedule for deliveries and installations of major appliances. I brought in my 40 year-old mini refrigerator that needed a part replaced. The owner couldn't have been more nasty about it and refused to have anyone look at it. She told me just to buy a new one. This fridge is covered in stickers and I've had it for 40 years and I didn't want to get rid of it. I had brought it there 10 years before to replace the same part and someone did it right at the counter for me so I asked for the same part and said I would do it myself. I've visited this business twice. The first time was to get a replacement hose for my dishwasher. They didn't have the part, but ordered it for me and it arrived the next day. The next time I visited, it was for a possibly faulty pump for my washing machine. The replacement part was $150. When one of the workers there saw my surprise at the price, he took a look at my pump and cleaned it out for free! I hired A-1 Appliance to service my refrigerator. When they couldn't obtain the part, they suggested I buy a replacement from them--sight unseen--assuring me it would be the same size as my old unit. Instead, they delivered and installed a refrigerator that was completely the wrong size and didn't fit the space. This felt like a bait-and-switch. I asked them to simply sell me the correct size and charge me the difference, but they refused. After much back and forth, they finally agreed to pick up the one-week-old refrigerator, but only if I paid a $603 restocking fee in order to get the right size. I do not recommend buying a new refrigerator from A-1 Appliance. They did not honor my request, they pushed a wrong-sized unit on me without my approval, and only offered a costly "compromise." If you need a new appliance, you're better off buying from a reputable big-box store where you know what you're getting. It's been 2 weeks since DANIEL repaired my Kitchenaid refrigerator and I am very pleased with the service and result. As a consumer I did read the mixed reviews and decided to give A-1 Service a try. All communication were prompt and professional. DANIEL did a thorough job. He found the problem but also took extra measures to make certain to pinpoint the problem to minimize any unnecessary work and cost. Parts were not available locally, DANIEL called in the order ASAP knowing we were a one refrigerator home. The parts came in the afternoon, instead of coming the next day, DANIEL came in the late afternoon and completed the repair. He got Albert to come over on sunday. he checked a bunch of things and decided we needed a new control center, not the mother board. anyhow after he left, the fridge started working again, but we decided to swap out the part Albert thought we needed anyway. I have a feeling he tightened some connections on Sunday. He came Tuesday with the part and it seems to be working pretty well. Unless you want to project manage your own service repair, would highly recommend not hiring them. Super unprofessional team (worked with many team members and contractors from the same operation). Summary of what happened - They came out 1 month ago to start a repair on an oven - It took them 3 visits to fix part of the oven problem (during this process, I had to call them several times to follow up and remind them to schedule follow-ups) - Turned on oven and found out it was still not functioning properly - The company sent out tech again (which required several phone calls & pushing on my behalf) - Tech thinks they figured out the problem. I texted them over a full week to push for the next steps, and I continued to get no updates on the next steps - They did come back with a new tech and replaced a new part, but didn't fix the issue- They mentioned they'd call with next steps, but I never heard from them again. Recommendation to management: Train your team to keep the customer updated and in the loop. Provide pro-active communication as to the progress on a job. Follow-up when you say you will. As a customer, I would have gladly paid for a higher professionalism of service. Conclusion: I ended up never getting a resolution and paid hundreds in parts not needed & needed to spend money with another company to get a resolution. read more

Amir comes through for me AGAIN!!. I'm a DIY guy and was troubleshooting a dryer that wasn't turning on, despite having power. I checked for continuity on the usual suspects but they all tested ok. I decided to throw in the towel and call for an expert technician. I went to A-1 and spoke with Amir. He asked me about all the items I checked and I told him they all tested fine. As he looked at the wiring schematic, he asked me about a particular switch and I told him I didn't see or check it. Then told me that's the problem and would bet money on it. I went back and jumped the switch and sure enough, the dryer started! He ordered a new switch for me and I installed it - cost $42 and a couple hours of my time. The man knows his stuff. A team of two technicians were sent out by my home warranty company and they were extremely thorough. They tried to fix my AC unit by adding freon, however, that wasn't the problem. They added the freon slowly and figured out that there was a clog. They then came inside and figure out where the freon leak was. Then they opened up the unit and found out the compressor was bad. I'm waiting to see what my home warranty covers. They were careful and thorough. This was the third company that was sent out and the techs were happy to show me and educate me on what they were doing. I would have them come out again. They also had to access my unit on a hill, which the second company had a problem with. Tony and Brandon were great. read more

Most appliance inventory and parts depend on overseas suppliers. Those supply lines have been further stressed by the pandemic. Replacement of old appliances with highly reviewed units is not an option in many cases so repair, replace, and reuse becomes the rule now more than ever. That said, we need to bring appliance manufacturing back to the US! Disassembly and installation of a Microhood door was necessary to put in a new handle on my old workhorse, 2001 GE Advantium 120. Lucky for me other white 120 owners, the handle is being reproduced now after many years of absence. But the handle replacement job still required patience and knowledge as broken handle mounts needed Macgyvering also. Over 40 years of apartment renovation has taught me that a service company is only as good as its technicians. I really tried to like these guys and have been beyond patient until this point. I never like writing bad reviews but this is just too much. Techs are nice but the administrative side of this company is completely incompetent if dealing with a home warranty. They will send out techs to diagnose but not actually repair or provide solutions. Then when you request further information they just send a tech back out to endlessly "diagnose". Each time a tech comes out and diagnoses, they close the claim WITHOUT a proper repair, and then I have to open a new claim with my warranty and start all over. I have wasted countless hours dealing with this company. My AC simply has a leak and I cannot get these people to provide solutions. They literally asked ME, what they should do about it. Seriously?! It's like taking your car to the mechanic for an oil leak yet and all they do is put more oil in and don't fix the leak, then ask YOU how they should fix it. I had to have my repair reassigned to another company because after a week of promises of updates, they NEVER would call with a solution or update. Every time I would call them, they would say someone would call back by end of day. It's now 2 minutes before they close, of the third day in a row of them promising to call by end of day. Hello there my fellow Yelpers.... Just a quick shout out to my friends at A-1 Appliance Inc. So here's how it goes... I've been using a budget brand (Uline or something like that) for 8 years, and for the last year, it was only drying on the cooldown (15-min at a time cycle ). My wife has been patiently waiting for me to install a new dryer, but I figured I'd get all I could out of this one, for as long as possible. Anyway, after procrastinating for far too long I was ready to find a new one soon. As it happened, this morning riding my cycle by A-1 I saw Mark coming into work and said hello. He was friendly so I asked if they had any new dryers in stock, he said they did. He wasn't even fully checked in but opened the showroom for me to look around. Well to my surprise they had a very nice brand new Frigidaire 12 speed 120vac gas dryer, just what I needed. He gave me his best price, which ended up being100$ less that my Googled price, so I purchased it on the spot. Mark helped me load it into my pickup, and I took home for setup...It's installed and works really well. So, I called them back and the guy tells me he only has one guy that can look at my type of repair and he is tied up on another job. We agree to a new time window the next day. Second appointment: No show. Again, no call from the company to reschedule or anything. I call them back and now the guy is making new excuses and promises to call me by 10 am the next day to tell me when his guy can make it. I hold off on booking another company, hoping that this guy will actually do what he says he will do. The next morning, I wait. 10 am comes and goes and I hear nothing. It would appear that the squeaky wheel gets the cheese, or however the saying goes. Not long after the review was written I had a service worker sitting outside my door requesting to service my fridge. At this point he was 3 hours late and just decided to show up. I had already transferred our service to another company, but he gave me a story that made me sympathize for him (hormones) so I allowed him to come in, check out the fridge, and keep the contract. I'll spare further details... he completed the work. Actually communicated with me and my husband regarding parts that needed to be ordered, rescheduling, and arriving in a timely manner. I will NOT be using their services again and will make it clear to my warranty provider that I prefer not to use them anymore. Called last month to replace ice maker. it arrived, they called me to tell me that and schedule an appt. Tech showed up exactly on time, installed the thing, tested it. Alas, a few hours later we realized the freezer wasn't working. He'd given me his cell number; I called 8 PM, and he showed up next morning 10 sharp. The repair person was going to come to my home between 10:00 and 12:00 am. At 9:45 Alex called and said he'd be at my home at 10:00 and was exactly on time. I love it when they come at the beginning of the promised time so I don't have to wait around for 2 hours for them to show up. I had two repairs one for my refrigerator and another for my dish washer. Alex did a fantastic job of finding and fixing both of them in a very reasonable amount of time. I don't know where to begin with my experience with this company. I had a stove that needed the insulation replaced. Admittedly I had removed the prior insulation due to a rodent infestation. Often times completing a job is tricky if you did not originally work on it. However, this task was not complicated and I already had the insulation. The first day scheduled , I did receive a courtesy call the technician would be late. He did not show up at all. Each time i called, I got a different person who had no idea about my service call. Next day a friendly but truthfully inexperienced technician came and with my assistance we got it done. At the point the job was completed he noticed a broken gas feed pipe. It was a combination of the stove being moved but aggravated by the tech not knowing how the back panel was fit back on. He took zero responsibility and left me to find the part on Amazon. Shocked, I paid in full for the services which was fairly steep for the job done and stove value. I received a call from a representative telling me the part would be $87. Now, I am 600 into a stove purchased for 700 new. Ok we accepted the situation and excited, we cooked a pizza. The entire kitchen got too hot and smoke made the alarms go off. The technician had left out a key metal insulation part he did not understand was needed. Now, would you hire this company to do your repairs? read more

I had these guys out to fix my air conditioner that stopped working. They did find and fix the problem, but it took them 4 hours to do so. And they took my credit card info up front but never advised me that their hourly rate is an exorbitant amount of nearly $300/hour! I was stuck with a $1,200 charge that I wasn't expecting. In the end, they determined my thermostat had to be replaced but they replaced my advanced smart thermostat with a cheap basic one. They never asked my preference or told me they were doing that. Then, after I went out and bought a new thermostat and asked them to swap it out with the one they had installed, they stalled and delayed for over a month, and would not even schedule a specific time to do it- they said I had to be available for a full 2-hour window. I simply do not have that kind of time for them to fix something they did poorly in the first place! Definitely will not use these guys again. read more

My fridge door literally fell off onto the floor -- at 3:45 on a Friday! I taped it on with electrical tape and started calling around in a panic. A1 was the first to answer the phone by a (very nice) human. They asked for pics by email and in the meantime were contacting the repair tech immediately to see if they could get to me. I am writing this at 4:50 pm and my fridge is already fixed! I kind of can't believe it. I was sure I would be waiting until Monday. Luckily the part was not broken but the "post" part had gone up inside the door and the bracket was very loose. The repair person Adam was able to fix it on the spot. He was super nice and easy to have around. I was kind of nervous about having a stranger in the house because of Covid but he was very conscientious and respectful, wore a mask the whole time (except taking off for the pic), and kept distance as much as possible in my small kitchen. It took them 5 appointments (including two no-shows), over 3 weeks, and 4 technicians to do nothing but replace an old thermostat with a new one. Two of the appointments were no shows, both of which *I* had to call and follow up on after the scheduled time slots came and went without so much as a call from their office. They are completely disrespectful of one's time (I lost one day off, and was hours late to a family gathering because of this on separate occasions), but will happily chime in about how much they should get hourly after completely fudging the whole thing. I received a quote of "most likely $180, but possibly a *maximum* of $200 depending on difficulty" When the first technician that showed up, he immediately told me it was going to be $250, which I pushed back on, given the quote above, so they "settled" on the "maximum" of $200. However, this technician had no clue what he was doing and fried a component they later charged me to replace - my total was over $500 at the end of the entire month long ordeal (but hey, the offered me a discount on the parts I shouldn't have had to purchase. Swell!) Each time someone actually showed up - until the last appointment, I was left worse off than the time before. The first guy left me with no A/C at all, the next guys came and destroyed the drywall behind where the thermostat was mounted. That portion of the drywall can fortunately be hidden with a mounting plate that came with my new thermostat, but if I move away, my landlord will undoubtedly charge me for it if he decides he doesn't want the "smart" thermostat and goes back to an standard model. There is actually more, but I think this is long enough..you get the idea. I wouldn't trust these guys to tie my shoes. 1 star because zero isn't an option. Avoid at all costs. read more
