Please think twice about this plumber. SoCalGas said I have a slow gas leak, and in order to restore service, a plumber would have to test and fix the leak. Less than 5 minutes after Jose's arrival -- WITHOUT doing any testing ... or even looking at the hookups (water heater, dryer & stove), he said I would have to replace ALL my gas lines. This did not sound right. When I asked him why he wasn't going to test the lines, he said "they're all underground" and shrugged, as if this was the obvious answer. When I pushed back, he said he could "test the gas meter for leaks" pointing to the couplings on the meter. Again, this made no sense -- the gas company had just tested the meter, and years ago I had the same situation and a plumber did pressurized air testing and fixed a small leak. When I told Jose I knew for a fact that lines can be tested he immediately pivoted in his tracks, quickly mumbling, "You don't understand...I'm outta here." (Well, Jose, I understood very well what you were about. And, yes, you are outta here.) Needless to say, despite what he told me on the phone, Jose clearly had no capacity or expertise to test my gas lines. He hoped I was ignorant and uninformed (and desperate to get the gas turned back on). He clearly tried to dupe me into believing I needed to REPIPE all my gas lines. Totally reprehensible, unethical, opportunistic behavior. BEWARE. read more

Jose and Alberto from Real Plumbers did a ton of work for us in a short amount of time to get our new place ready before move-in, and I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. They replaced three conventional toilets with new Toto models, each with washlet seats and auto-flush systems. I was nervous about hiring someone to install them since they're fairly complex with a lot of parts and electrical connections, but for Jose and Alberto it was clearly no big deal. Everything works perfectly. On top of that, they replaced the shower valves and trim in two bathrooms with Grohe push button fixtures and a new handshower all by working from the wall behind, with zero damage to the tile. That alone deserves serious credit. They also installed a new rainfall showerhead exactly as requested. They installed a water filtration system in the kitchen, replaced the kitchen faucet, and swapped out the garbage disposal. Every single job was done cleanly, efficiently, and with real attention to detail. Jose is great at communicating throughout the process. He is always responsive, clear, and professional. His and Alberto's workmanship are top-notch. These guys can do anything, and their pricing is very fair for the level of quality they deliver. Jose knows plumbing at a Phd level, he has seen it all. They have installed 2 on demand water heaters, and come to the rescue on short notice when we had clogs. Today on Saturday morning they ran a camera down our lines and found a giant root blocking 90% of the line. A DEFINITE YES. I had my house tented but the Gas Co. said there was a leak and refused to turn my gas back on. In a panic, I got Real Plumbers on referral from an architect friend. Jose picked up the phone on Saturday night and his assistant Freddy was at my house on Monday (I was bizy on Sunday and they may have been too but just having the peace of mind knowing someone would soon be coming to fix the leak was a huge relief). Anyway, Freddy was great. He was pleasant, informative, and communicated extremely well. He tested and fixed the leak, and also double-checked my appliance connections when he was done. He also addressed a small plumbing leak that the subterranean termite guys noticed while they were under my house...and remounted a loose toilet. My old plumber would have made me reschedule each job separately. Anyway, Real Plumbers was FANTASTIC, and their pricing quite fair. I have already recommended them to a friend who owns several Westside properties (we always share good tradesmen recommendations). Then ordered a replacement and was able to install it the next morning, so that we were able to have a hot shower that next day. I liked how he explained what he was doing and how he was setting up the new system to make sure it was safe and had the appropriate release valve while also allowing the circulating pump to connect. I had an area behind my bathroom vanity treated, because there once was a leak. I thought it best to hire a plumber to ensure there were no leaks before reattaching the vanity. I hired these guys, big mistake! I counted on their service to diagnose plumbing issues and let me know what needed work needed to be done. I'm very disappointed. The technician used some rubber in the P-Trap to reattach it to the sink. Once the water turned back on I noticed it was draining slowly. The technician said it was due to the position of the P-trap but it had never drained slowly before. Within three days the sink was completely backed up and unusable. The technician seemed unprofessional from the start. I do not recommend them at all, he made nearly $200 in under and hour and then told me the back up was my problem because all he did was reinstall the vanity. These people are crooks don't use them and always verify the technician is licensed first. read more
