I called Wolf and spoke to one of their certified repair people, whom west appliance claim to be,, and the part only costs $200. I will say that Customer Service at West appliance is top-notch. Kudos to Mark, whose doggedness led to the repair of my refrigerator. A repair man with another company was unable to find the problem and, on his way out the door, told me to buy another refrigerator. The problem was the ice-making machine wasn't working. The control board was fried. Mark dug into the refrigerator and discovered a severed wire. It was a design flaw in my Whirlpool fridge. Every time I opened or closed the freezer door, a piece of metal rubbed against the wire, and after 12 years, it cut through. Mark repaired it, and everything works fine. Upon replacing the thermostat they charged me $350 for the work including parts less the $95. A few days later I noticed the oven was still not working properly. They returned to inspect the oven at no charge after realizing it was a bigger issue, they refunded the cost of the repair by Zelle. It's not easy to find a reputable repair service. A technician examined my mother's refrigerator and said that the $95 service charge would be applied to her service if she chose to repair it with them. When the $1600 quote came in, there was no mention of the $95 being applied. After further review, we also discovered that the authentic GE part cost about $285. So they were going to charge my elderly mother over $1300 for the installation of the control board for her fridge ( a 15 min job).
