Much to my dismay, I discovered a geyser shooting water up from a pipe in the rear of my property that I'm trying to prepare to rent. It was rather late in the day on Saturday so I just turned the water off and decided to deal with the problem on Monday. So, on Monday, I did a drive-by to assess the situation and discovered another area where water was bubbling to the surface and resulted in quite a large muddy spot. Well now, my head just hurt. So I turned to Yelp to look up 'Plumbers' and started reading reviews and I noticed that Rapid Action Rooter had sooooo many positive comments. I sent a message through Yelp describing the problem and a few minutes later I received a reply from the owner. I called Mandel, the owner, and he said he could come out that afternoon. That was yesterday. Mandel and his assistant were waiting for me when I arrived, both dressed in uniform with company info on the shirt. After I showed him the problem areas he and partner got to work. Mandel discovered there was a hole--more of a slit, in the middle of this piece of copper pipe (buried about 3 feet underground )--so weird. Have NO idea how could've happened...or WHEN! Mandel explained the damaged portion of the pipe needed to be removed and replaced, welded back together. He was transparent about the price and method of payment--uses Zelle, which is super convenient! During our conversation, though, I mentioned some other jobs that needed to be completed in the home. Well, before I could say, "do you know anyone who does...?", Mandel was telling me about his drywall & paint guy, his flooring guy, his electrical guy. But more than merely tell me about the tradesmen, he actually called them before he left so that I could coordinate a day/time to meet with them AND Mandel told them that HE would text them my contact information. We started washing dishes and noticed water pouring onto the floor. Since Mandel had just been over a week prior to fix the main line we asked him if he could send someone to check out this new leak. He said someone would come the next day. They showed up and verified that our pipes are old and rusted and it would need to be replaced. He quickly replaced it and mentioned that all the pipes under the house were the same way and instead of doing onesie twosie repairs we needed to get them all replaced at the same time. So my mom decided to have all the pipes under the house replaced. It took them about a day and a half but they did a beautiful job. I can now take a bath and and the drain actually lets the water out quickly. I attached photos of what our pipes looked like before (rusted/corroded) and how the pipes looked after they got through under the house. They definitely live up to their name. Overpriced!! Checked CSLB website and apparently this business is not licensed. I was charged $250 to replace toilet waxed seal, technician did not replace caulking around the base of the toilet. Condidering he was onsite, asked him to look at the kitchen faucet that required tightening. Technician said he didn't know what was wrong with the unit or how to adjust/repair. The first time I called him, he didn't even come out but told me what it could be and helped me fix it over the phone so he wouldn't have to charge me. Don't call for drain cleaning. We get roots. A lot. We have our regular plumber come out for maintenance every six to nine months. But we got a blockage and he wasn't immediately available so we tried Rapid Action. They didn't even bother cleaning out the drain. Or rather, they claimed it couldn't be cleaned. They actually ran a camera after rooting and *showed me* that they'd left it 90% blocked! They claimed the only option is a $12K repair. I repeatedly asked: even if I schedule the repair, what more can they do to open the drain in the meantime, that day? More rooting? Hydro jet? All they did was make nonsense excuses about why that wouldn't work (the rooter can only punch a tiny hole through the roots! the jet will let soil get in!). Lesson learned. The next day our regular guy came and cleared out the roots they'd left. We might even do that full repair now, but our regular guy will get our business. read more
