Three thermostats that were already working kept working and two thermostats that weren't working stayed that way. Gene acted like he was fixing thermostat wiring by opening covering and putting tape around two wires that were not bare or cut. Wire still didn't work yet he claims he fixed it. He suggested instead to go wireless instead of wired. Then he looked at failed heat pump and thinks it's cooling because it has refrigerant BUT the fan never came on. With more questioning Gene wrote back he could return to poke around for $550 more after I got new thermostats.

I hired HVAC Hunters for a refrigerant recharge. The technician told me, based on his professional…read moreexperience, that this recharge would get my system through the summer. I took him at his professional word and approved the work on that basis. It did not last 12 hours. The system stopped working the same day. Only afterward did I read the fine print on the invoice, which says the opposite of what I was told in person: that a recharge carries no guarantee of operation for any period of time and that the refrigerant may keep leaking. So I was sold a "summer" fix verbally, handed a disclaimer in writing, and left with a system that quit before the next morning. To make it worse, no one had the courtesy to call me and let me know the outcome of the conversation with their technician. Having managed large operations for years, I know there's a right way and a wrong way to do business: set honest expectations, stand behind what your technician promises, and communicate directly. None of that happened here. My advice, get every promise in writing before you approve any work, or better yet, call someone else.
