Run the car at higher speeds and for at least a few miles so the engine & catalytic converter are warmed up for maximum efficiency. Otherwise, the car may not pass inspection. Test only, Star Smog station so all it specializes in is testing for smog. The shop doesn't make any repairs if the car doesn't pass the smog test. You'll have to go to your repair shop, or perhaps you can get a referral to a neighbouring repair shop if you don't have a reliable repair facility.
