This was a big problem that other car maintenance repair shops never pointed out when performing routine inspections, and it seemed like a pretty big oversight, so I'm very grateful to Vic's for spotting this, showing me, and getting it fixed quickly. I feel like they genuinely care about my car and offer the time and attention required to keep it running smoothly for as long as possible. They also do not charge a diagnostic fee! That was such a pleasant surprise since every mechanic or auto shop I visit charges something when inspecting the car. I brought it in the other day because I wanted a second opinion on recommended maintenance from another auto repair shop. I called just a few minutes beforehand, and shortly after I arrived, they quickly put it on the lift to look underneath and gave me their opinion. And there was no charge! It only took a couple of hours for Tom to determine the electric battery was the problem. He ordered the battery from Toyota and didn't get it until late the next afternoon. The employees were very nice and helpful, and I was initially told it would be $35 to patch my tire. I was there with my boyfriend who had met me there. They removed the tire, checked it for leaks, and found none. Since there was no leak or repair needed, they put the tire back on. After my boyfriend left, I got into my car and started reversing, then the employee who had been helping me asked to me pay the $35. I asked why I was being charged since no repair or patch had actually been done, and I was told it was because they had inspected the tire. When I asked for clarification, the employee who said it was his first week told me he wasn't sure why I was being charged, just that someone told him to charge me. What made the situation more uncomfortable was that they waited until my boyfriend had left to ask me for payment, despite knowing I was in a rush. I understand that businesses may charge for inspections or labor, but I feel that should have been clearly communicated upfront especially when the original quote was specifically for patching the tire. I normally don't leave negative reviews, especially when the employees themselves were kind and helpful, but the way this situation was handled did not feel right.
