MY EXPERIENCE WITH TYERMANS AUTOMOTIVE IN BURBANK -- BUYER BEWARE I am writing this review based on my personal experience with Tyermans Automotive in Burbank, California, and unfortunately, it has been one of the worst automotive experiences I have ever had. I brought my classic car to Tyermans and ultimately spent more than $20,000 with them. In the beginning, they were extremely nice and made me feel like I was dealing with people I could trust. Unfortunately, my experience after that was completely different. Within approximately one year, I had to bring the car back 10-20 times because I continued experiencing problems. Every time I got behind the wheel, I felt like I had to cross my fingers and hope that nothing else was going to go wrong. What bothers me most is that when a shop has your vehicle and is test-driving it, inspecting it, or working on it, I believe they have a responsibility to tell you about problems they discover or conditions that could potentially become serious issues. In my experience, I did not feel that I was being given the complete picture about the condition of my car. After spending over $20,000, I expected reliability, transparency, communication, and professional workmanship. Instead, I found myself repeatedly returning to the shop and continuing to worry about whether my car was going to make it home. My advice to anyone considering Tyermans Automotive: DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE. Get independent inspections, get everything in writing, ask questions, and get a second opinion before authorizing major repairs. This is my personal experience and opinion, and I would not personally recommend Tyermans Automotive based on what happened with my vehicle. For me, spending more than $20,000 and still having to repeatedly bring the car back is unacceptable. They always seem to have several 60's cars around and I can see why, they are super knowledgeable about these cars, regardless of which manufactures made them. "Simple" non warranty auto related repairs are best done by yourself to avoid what seems to be a constant outflow of money to less than scrupulous or unqualified mechanics. That's my general opinion. But there are times that you may not have the equipment, knowhow, or friends that can make an at home repair a $50 for parts and a couple hours of your time vs. $350 for the same repair at a mechanic's shop. My experience with Tyerman's still leaves me scratching my head. I'm unsure what to think when the mechanic tells me something is damaged, that I can clearly see is not. It makes me think that he didn't want to do the job he was supposed to, because it may have taken longer than expected. Instead, he offered to repair a part that upon further inspection is fine, and charge me 4x the original quoted price. I'm baffled and I unsure what to think of this place. read more
