Let's talk generalizations. If you're going to work with cars, you should probably know about cars. Gas engines, electric engines, low cars, high cars, trucks; you name it, if you're going to be someone who is relied upon to help when there are issues, you should have some knowledge of the situation. My car broke down, AAA called, independent contractor came. Now I should preface this with, the gentlemen was completely professional, and very calm and nice. Understandingly, just following protocol to limit liability. My issue comes when he couldn't' diagnose properly, WHERE to jack my car up. My car is lower, and has side skirts, but this has NOTHING to do with the jack points on the FRAME of the car. He kept on repeating, your frame is plastic, it will crack. FIRST OF ALL, my FRAME is metal, the side skirts are CARBON FIBER. And when I told him, look, just jack here, you wont crack it, he had to call is equally inept manager, who said not to touch it. I even said, here, let me jack it up, so you're not liable for damage. And they still refused. When I asked for a tow truck, they said NO, and left me to fend for myself. Tl;dr: They left me stranded in 90 degree weather, and I finally got my jack under the car (surprisingly), and jacked it up, without cracking anything, and swapped my own tire out. Then spoke with AAA, and filed a complaint with the company about A&B being useless. I can only imagine what would have happened if they came to my rescue in bum-f*ck no where. Long story short, this horrible tow service first YANKS my door handle OFF my car, the driver asks me "was your door handle broken" - well obviously it wasn't prior to their lovely "Service". Conveniently he then dropped it on the ground. I'll leave the part about it being towed to the wrong destination out because I'm just pissed about my door handle. And no, there was no body damage, the car just needed a tow. Was not in any accident. Now multiple days later they are claiming that my door handle had prior damage and they won't cover it. I ran out of gas in a very old car I have that doesn't have a good gas gauge. AB showed up very rapidly with gas (via AAA) to help out. I was in a sketchy part on the side of the freeway. But the main reason for the review is the driver then asked if I knew the area for another gas station. I said yes and booked it to the next off-ramp. When I got to the gas station, it was all yellow taped and closed. Luckily the tow guy followed me from a distance as he looped back into the city and saw the station was closed. He turned around and pulled in laughing with me. He then gave me an escort to the nearest station a few miles away in case I ran out of gas again! I've been using A&B for years to tow. Today I called to book a tow. They explained that they are under new management and have substantially raised their prices. I asked them if this was there way of telling me that they don't want to tow my car. They said, 'you can do whatever you want. We are under new management and our rates are our rates.' Oh, okay, sorry to have bothered you guys. I didn't even question the rates. I would've been fine paying them. Just was amazed at the lack of care from their employees. From answering the phone with 'hello?' to hanging up after telling me to do whatever I want, it's clear that the new management doesn't care about their customers - especially the loyal ones like me. I told them that I was relying on them because my phone was running out of battery and they said for me not to worry that within 30 min, the driver would arrive to my location. 2 hours pass and no sign of them. I run to gas station to see where the driver was and they pretty much did not get me a driver because they asked me all the same questions as they did when I first called them. Not only are the people at A & B very knowledgeable but they are also very extremely honest, nice, and trustworthy which can be so hard to find. I thought I had a simple dead battery which turned out to be much worse than expected. I called for a tow and was told they couldn't help me because I was too far away. According to google I was just over 5 miles away, 5.7 to be exact from their location in Costa Mesa to where I was at the Newport Beach/ Corona Del Mar border. Additionally and ironically the tire shop I needed to be towed to was right by them . I'm not sure what the point of a tow company is, if they won't pick up a car 10-15 minutes away but I hope this review serves as caution and saves some time for others who might be in a bind like myself. read more

I went to run errands on my lunch only to return to a completely dead car. I called my AAA service provider and someone came out only to tell me they can't do anything and I need to spend nearly $900 to get it fixed. I was then sent an angel (Don from A & B Towing) who not only towed my car to my apartment successfully, but also found a way to calm my nerves and anxiety over the whole car ordeal, talked me through all the possibilities of what could actually be wrong, and performed a ton of different tests to narrow things out (which my original AAA guy did none of). Don was extremely friendly and even more so full of knowledge and expertise. I highly recommend using A & B towing and ask for Don if you want the best service in this field! My driver was excellent! I think his name was (if I spell correctly) Abdalnassez. Many times when I needed roadside assistance, the drivers are always rushing me. But my driver was friendly and very patient as I needed a jump and a tow. Thanks to my great tow guy for taking the time I needed. My car was in an underground parking garage. He waited for me to get a jump from my son, as he was only there to tow. I didn't think I would need a jump. This towing company gets a 0- they have an F rating with the BBB. My car was contracted with AAA for them to tow my car to Fletcher Jones in Newport Beach. The driver drove up with a cigarette lit in his mouth and told me to give him a minute to meet him at the dealer ship and call my phone and asked me to send him a text message with the address for Fletcher Jones. He text me again and asked me the address again and dropped my car in the back so I was not able to see the damages that were caused to my center shift counsel. I asked Fletcher Jones if there were any damages to the car because I saw him put a screwdriver to the center of the car and they stated it was cracked and not in the correct position and it was going to be 400.00 for the part to be replaced. I called the number 714 540-0204 and who ever answered the did not provide his name to me and put me into a voice mail box that was full, I called back and he saw my caller ID and put me in the same mail box that was full. Sina assisted me with a battery check and jump today. I had called AAA for a possible tow since I tried to jump start my car with a neighbors vehicle without any luck. Sina called me within 10 minutes of my service call & was only 5 minutes away. That was the quickest response time I had ever witnessed. My battery was checked with his status device and the results stated that my battery was very low...only at 7%. He said that it only showed that the battery was drained...not that it was bad. So he suggested I drive my car for at least 1/2 hour on the freeway and that should work to get the battery back to normal. I did try this, but a few hours later, my car would not start. I just need a new battery. Sina was quick and efficient, but I still have a battery problem. AAA and A&B towing are there to assist, but cars are just not always easy to diagnose outside an auto shop. read more
