Only 3 stars because I've ordered plenty of times and had no issue, except today when I ordered chicken dumplings and the meat inside looked like pork and it was black and chewy. I called to get it replaced not even refunded and I was first told they would replace it. They then called back to tell me I was wrong they were indeed chicken dumplings which is fine but they couldn't explain the black chewy meat. I offered to send photos because I got it delivered I'm not going out if I wanted to I would've picked it up. They were going back and forth and I don't have the time or patience today. So I will take the loss and I won't be ordering from here anymore this is just a heads up to check your food before you eat. Loved this place but I don't like inconvenience when I'm spending my money. read more

I spend $50 minimum everytime and today I called and asked for sauce and they send me dry and inedible food (ribs and duck over rice )and no napkins or utensils with my food. And when I call back they say it's my fault! They made no effort to help me and frankly denied me of any assistance in rectifying my situation. So I've ordered takeout twice in the last month and had two completely different experiences. The first time everything was delicious. Yes, it's cheap Chinese American takeout but even within that tier of eateries there's good and bad and this was delicious. Fried wontons, roast pork lo mien (with the proper amount of grease - not too much but not masquerading as health food), tender General Tso's chicken with a tasty sweet spicy sauce, and crispy juice chicken wings. The second time around nothing but the wontons tasted as good. The lo mien was dry, the chicken bland, a little on the chewy side, the sauce itself looked more orange in color. I recently called A & C and didn't recognize the voice of the woman who took my order. e.g. How is Szechuan dumpling sauce made? It's dumpling with sauce. Really? How is the sauce made? It's Szechuan dumpling. So I asked for the sauce on the side. Neither dumping order had the sauce on the side, instead they were drenched in what seemed like canned sauce... yuck! Down the toilet they went... I ordered the following and here is my opinion of each: * Bar-B-Que spare rib appetizer: Meaty, moist, lightly sweet... very good! * Buddha's Delight: They brought me a Chinese Vegetable dish instead of the Buddha's Delight with Tofu in Garlic Sauce. They returned with the Buddha Delight and took back the Chinese Vegetable dish (To do what with, I don't know. But I gave it back to them). The Buddha's Delight has soft stir fried tofu, snow peas, broccoli, carrot, celery, mushroom. Not the delight it use to be. I think they stopped using fresh garlic so it was pretty bland. * Chicken with Black Bean Sauce: A balanced dish I enjoyed. No too salty, lots of onion, and a splash of green pepper (not a big fan so I was glad there was just a little) carrots mushrooms broccoli and chicken. * Szechuan Dumplings: The Dumpling wrap was undercooked (inedible), drenched in an awful thick sweet sauce. If I recall correctly the Szechuan sauce was a Spicy Chili Peanut sauce. Not thin nor super runny, just slightly thick enough to coat the dumplings (No refund offered. Literally money down the toilet.) * Sesame Dumplings: The Dumpling wrap was undercooked (inedible), drenched in an awful thick sweet sauce with no sesame taste and not delivered on the side as I requested. Sesame oil with a bits of ginger, garlic, and scallion with a dab of light Soy Sauce would work better (No refund offered - literally money down the toilet) A & C was at one time one of the best in neighborhood. It has changed hands and they seem to use canned products instead of fresh. The quality has diminished and they should rename the restaurant. read more

I've lived in the East Village for 25 years and have always ordered from Mr. Lee. Good consistent Chinese take out. In the past year or maybe a bit more they have never once gotten my order right. The ribs used to be juicy and succulent now they are dry and tough. The chicken dishes used to be yummy chicken now it's hard to find the chicken. They nickle and dime you to death and charge that ridiculous credit card fee. The delivery men have often been rude and dirty. I am sorry to say but I will no longer be a patron. Sad. read more

Our favorite spot for cheap Chinese. It's like a normal greasy Chinese spot you'd find anywhere... But better. My favorite is broccoli & tofu in peanut sauce. It wasn't until living in a different neighborhood that I realized A&C is better than the rest. Their $5 tofu burger dinner dinners are a reliable and fast lunch. Their employees are always friendly. The only downside is some of the other people that frequent this place. I've gotten into a few arguments with fellow patrons that don't mind their Ps & Qs. These guys are by far the fastest for deliveries that I've experienced. The shrimp with broccoli in garlic sauce and the beef chow fun are what we usually get from here.they don't send fortune cookies unless you ask for em, and once during the winter the food got here a bit cold. The best thing about living in east village is you can get great food in minutes walk. This place is not that impressive, but good enough food for a quick lunch. I placed an order through paypal. About 40 minutes later... Not bad considering its the lunch crowd time. However after opening my order I realized an item was missing. I quickly called them to let them know and the lady on the phone had me back and fourth trying to explain to her what occurred for about 15 minutes she kept placing me on hold. We ordered a double cheeseburger they send only one and when you ask to speak to manager it def was an Indian man covering up because MR.LEE the owner would I hope not let this occur. Only place I've ever seen open at 4:30 AM serving fresh shrimp fried rice like it was lunchtime. I was then living around the corner and working at the time and when you live and work in NYC dinner or lunch can be anytime and this place delivers great Chinese food! I ordered and was almost instantly handed a box and bag and I walked out thanking them. As I walking I opened the box and grabbed my chopsticks popped open the top and to my surprise I saw shrimp galore like more shrimp than rice!
