So crazy to find this Jamaican restaurant in such a small city-Rapid City (mainly Caucasian and Native people here).. and the food is so good! A lot of times I find really good food in random places. Like there is an amazing Dominican restaurant in Orem (Provo Utah) and you would never think it would be good lol! But I ordered a small curry chicken meal on DoorDash with extra gravy and a side of peppa sauce. Service was somewhat good..and I say somewhat because they listened to my requests but didn't include my drink I ordered. I ordered a Ting.. Thankfully the Dasher took it upon himself to stop at a gas station and get me a Pepsi which was super nice of him and I was extremely grateful! The small was the perfect size and still too much for me. Chicken is juicy and flavorful, cabbage is super good. Rice & Peas were so good and not overly seasoned. Definitely ordering again. **June 2025: Sunday Afternoon Visit** Wow! This was one of my favorite meals on my eight state roadtrip and kinda wished we ate there twice. The restaurant is located in a small shopping plaza and the restaurant is very casual. There are small and large size plates for patrons to enjoy, but my friend and I decided to get two small plates so we could try different proteins. -Small Oxtail Plate $14 - Holy cow! I was really surprised by how much meat we were given. In California we'd probably see half the amount and double the price and obviously it was tasty. The oxtail was tender -Small Chicken Curry Plate $11 - This chicken curry dish tastes like what my dad makes at home. The chicken is tender, and there was abundant vegetables that were soft and soaked up the curry juices Both order came with slaw and rice and worked well with the proteins. If you love flavor and at an affordable price A&D Jamaican will make you very happy. I hope if I get to visit again I'll get to try their goat meat! :D read more

Want Jamaican? Head to Rapid City. Yes, in South Dakota. Easier than flying out to the Caribbean and you'll get to enjoy a different kind of nature in the surrounding areas. But I digress ... Stopped in for lunch one day and I have to admit, initially, I wasn't impressed because I was expecting crowds, not an empty restaurant. However, by the time I left, both the food and service had changed my mind. No table service. Place and grab your order at the counter. But the woman behind the counter was so friendly and patient as she was peppered with questions. She made sure we were happy with our order, both when ordering and after we had cleared our plates of every scrap of chicken and oxtail. Speaking of that - to say the food was flavorful or to see pics - just doesn't do the food justice. You'd have to visit, try it for yourself to feel how tender and juicy the meats were. How all the ingredients just blended so well together. And how generous the portion sizes are. In the pics, those are both small orders. I'm sure that Jamaican isn't what you would first think of when mentioning South Dakota - but visit A&D and it will be. If I didn't live on the West Coast, I'd definitely be a regular. Walked in yesterday afternoon around 3pm and saw no one at the counter. I heard some shuffling in the back and shortly after a lady came out and asked if I have been here before. I told her no and she proceeded to tell me about how the dishes work here. FIRST: Meats. You would choose from oxtail, beef, goat curry, curry chicken etc. I choose the jerk chicken which she went to the back to chop it up for me (not sure why it's not out!?) SECOND: Rice. You would choose white rice or rice with beans. I choose rice with beans. THIRD: Cabbage. Yes please! I dined in and was the only person there the whole time. Delicious meal, felt like home cooked comfort food. I was a little disappointed at the jerk chicken. On a random Monday evening (literally just now) while on a business trip , I had a craving for some oxtails. It's a favorite of mine. Just to be clear I love any kind...Jamaican oxtails, Soul food oxtails with gravy, Vietnamese pho oxtails, Cambodian kuy teav oxtail, Filipino stew (Kare-Kare) oxtails, all of it. This A&D's Jamaican oxtails were no disappointment, it is delicious! I inhaled that food so quick..it was so tender, juicy, packed with flavor. I prefer spicy and this one wasn't spicy at all but my fault as I didn't request for any on my online YELP order. Let me tell you something, that food hit the spot. Wow, this was probably the best thing we ate in Rapid City. Flavorful, Juicy and inexpensive comfort food. If you're going for your first time. Let me educate you on their ordering system so you'll feel like a local. This is a cafeteria style dining. You picked up a drink, they will plate the food, you pay, then pick a seat to eat at. We waited by the door to be seated but the employees were at the back. We could hear pots banging like they were being washed. After a few minutes, we had to ring the bell. They came in the front to greet us and asked us to wait a few more moments to be served. A few more people came by to pick up their order but we were the only couple who dined in. The menu is in the front. Apparently the jerk chicken is a special item only made on certain days. The owner was kind enough to make some for my husband's order. I ordered the pork, rice with peas, and the side of cooked cabbage. You may choose a regular size or a larger one. We opted for the regular and the portions were nice. I think anything more would be too much. The flavor of the pork was wonderful. Soft and succulent but with the texture from the rice and cabbage balanced well. The jerk chicken was a little on the dry side and it wasn't as well seasoned as others we've had before but nonetheless, it was still delicious. Your mouth, stomach, and wallet will thank you. The location of the establishment is in a strip with limited parking. We went during lunch time. Since it shared parking with a Mexican restaurant, it was packed.
