Want Jamaican? Head to Rapid City. Yes, in South Dakota. Easier than flying out to the Caribbean and you'll get to enjoy a different kind of nature in the surrounding areas. But I digress ... Stopped in for lunch one day and I have to admit, initially, I wasn't impressed because I was expecting crowds, not an empty restaurant. However, by the time I left, both the food and service had changed my mind. No table service. Place and grab your order at the counter. But the woman behind the counter was so friendly and patient as she was peppered with questions. She made sure we were happy with our order, both when ordering and after we had cleared our plates of every scrap of chicken and oxtail. Speaking of that - to say the food was flavorful or to see pics - just doesn't do the food justice. You'd have to visit, try it for yourself to feel how tender and juicy the meats were. How all the ingredients just blended so well together. And how generous the portion sizes are. In the pics, those are both small orders. I'm sure that Jamaican isn't what you would first think of when mentioning South Dakota - but visit A&D and it will be. If I didn't live on the West Coast, I'd definitely be a regular. Probably the duke.

So good!!! I'm from CA and currently live in Chicago, but came to Rapid City on a roadtrip. The reviews convinced me to come and so glad I did. The brown stew pork and oxtail are SUPERB. We came here twice during our 4-day stay in rapid city. Good size portions and really kind people :)

The food was amazing. The customer service was outstanding also. Lady at the front was super helpful. It was our first time experiencing Jamaican food. It's located any building or three restaurants are connected. This one was immediately to the right, small it's located any building or three restaurants are connected. This one was immediately to the right, small restaurant, love the cling in this and how quiet it was on a Sunday. There was a lot of takeout traffic on the day we were there. I had the oxtail stew which was flavorful and the portion size was worth the price. It came with rice and a great tasting sautéed cabbage mixed vegetables. I also had a side of brown pork stew. Another home run item lol. Both the pork and oxtail was super tender and melted in my mouth. My wife had the small Jerk chicken which she absolutely loved. That also came with the same sides as the large oxtail I had. Overall it was a great find before we headed to the airport.

Walked in yesterday afternoon around 3pm and saw no one at the counter. I heard some shuffling in the back and shortly after a lady came out and asked if I have been here before. I told her no and she proceeded to tell me about how the dishes work here. FIRST: Meats. You would choose from oxtail, beef, goat curry, curry chicken etc. I choose the jerk chicken which she went to the back to chop it up for me (not sure why it's not out!?) SECOND: Rice. You would choose white rice or rice with beans. I choose rice with beans. THIRD: Cabbage. Yes please! I dined in and was the only person there the whole time. Delicious meal, felt like home cooked comfort food. I was a little disappointed at the jerk chicken. It was great tasting however the outside was rough and hard like its been reheated ton many times or overcooked. Otherwise, it was a great stop for lunch and would recommend.

I don't give many 5 stars but I was wanting some good Ox Tail and I found it here of all places. They have a drive thru option. I walked in and placed my order. Very welcoming and ready to serve. The rice and beans was spot on. The sauce for the ox tail was spot on. The meat was braised and tender. The side of cabbage was so awesome. My wife ordered the jerk chicken. They offered to put the curry sauce over the rice too. All the flavors were great. Chicken was tender and had the flavors to make a good not over spicy jerk chicken.

    Small Ox Tail - delicious!

Oxtail review! Florida girl here! I have to say, Rapid City... I am very impressed with what you have to offer. A&D Jamaican is where the flavor's at! On a random Monday evening (literally just now) while on a business trip , I had a craving for some oxtails. It's a favorite of mine. Just to be clear I love any kind...Jamaican oxtails, Soul food oxtails with gravy, Vietnamese pho oxtails, Cambodian kuy teav oxtail, Filipino stew (Kare-Kare) oxtails, all of it. This A&D's Jamaican oxtails were no disappointment, it is delicious! I inhaled that food so quick..it was so tender, juicy, packed with flavor. I prefer spicy and this one wasn't spicy at all but my fault as I didn't request for any on my online YELP order. Let me tell you something, that food hit the spot. Well worth the acid reflux right before bedtime. Thank you for such a wonderful meal. This is one happy camper here! If I'm ever in Rapid City again... I am one thousand percent sure I'll have another meal from you!

So good! Rapid city isn't what I'd call a food hub, so it's great to see a yummy restaurant.

Absolutely unreal oxtail. Stewed cabbage was off the charts good, and I didn't even need the hot sauce they provided.

Our entrees were expertly prepared and presented. They offered a number of lovely cocktails that pleased the rest of my party, while I enjoyed a glass of the lovely Austin Hope Cab. I'm knocking off a star for the excessively loud 80's music curated by an aging DJ, along with over-worked waitstaff that were challenged to respond to every party. Expensive (for Rapid City), but a lovely splurge to celebrate the birthday of our friend. I only wish that the temperature (103F at 6 pm) would have allowed us to sit on the rooftop patio.
