I'm not sure what happened, but the steaks they served two of us were unacceptable. We each ordered the 14oz wet aged ribeye, medium rare. We were later met with a 1/3" thick cut that was medium well (to be fair, it's difficult to assess doneness as the steaks really weren't thick enough to have a distinct center). It genuinely confuses me why these steaks weren't caught at the pass. Also worth noting, Delmonico doesn't have cocktail service. The beer list was your typical "six random crafts, plus Budweiser." I would like to have seen a few more options. The wine list seemed...fine. The sides were decent, and each would be enough for two. We had been in Deadwood for a few nights, and the food was Blah, so we wanted something better. Delmonica is it! We were greeted and seated promptly. Attentive service. Wife had the beef filet and I had walleye. Both good, especially the filet. She had onion soup--good and i had a small wedge salad--also good. The mashed sweet potatoes were really excellent. Delicious! What a great restaurant to enjoy a meal at! We dropped in unexpectedly last Friday Night and much to our surprise they were able to seat the three of us! My daughter had the wet aged ribeye and loved it! So tasty and tender! Perfectly spiced and cooked! My wife had the seabass that was so delicious! The sauce accompanying the seabass was extremely tasty that highlighted the taste of the fish! I had the pork tenderloin on Joel's recommendation and it was delicious! Tender flavorful pork tenderloin cooked perfectly was so yummy! Our sever Joel was awesome! The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice, perfect place to have quiet conversations in! Went here for the first time to celebrate my husband's birthday. He ordered a dry aged ribeye medium rare and it came out medium well. The steak was re-fired and came out at the appropriate doneness the second time. Unfortunately, this took about 10mins and left me eating alone while he waited for his steak and his sides got cold. No offer to remake the sides or to comp any part of the meal. We appreciate them recooking the steak appropriately but the dining experience was ruined. Just not the kind of experience or quality of food we were expecting for the price of the meal and very unfortunate that a steak house was unable to cook a steak properly the first time. When we walked in, it was quiet with very nice music. We were able to talk without yelling at each other over loud obnoxious music. The ambience was wonderful. I had the 6 ounce petite fillet medium, it was cooked to perfection, very tender and tasty. I also had an excellent house salad with raspberry vinaigrette dressing that was homemade. My side was truffle french fries that were very tasty. The restaurant doesn't currently have cocktails, but I had a Cayman walking fool, red blend wine that was good. My experience here was wonderful! I had the lobster roll, bourbon sweet potatoes and chocolate torte. Everything was delicious! The restaurant was clean, quiet, and the food was very quick. My server was Josh. He was very kind and attentive. He recommended the lobster roll after I told him I was craving fish. He also suggested the chocolate dessert. He was spot on! When the server asked about the meal (I had completed two of the four chops when she inquired), I said the spice was great. However, if someone had looked at the plate, they would have seen that I had pushed aside most of the excess fat and gristle. No questions about why there was such a large pile. Soon, a larger party got seated, and I became invisible. Other servers were noticeable and seemed relatively unbusy but did not seem to assist my server or follow up with me. A big table requires a lot of work, naturally, and might have a higher tab, but what about the poor little one-top who bought an app, wine, high-dollar entrée, and possibly had a dessert? A manager/hostess/other server/busser did come up and asked if I wanted dessert. I said I didn't know what they had, so I was presented with a menu. This was the last I saw of them or the server. My hotel was just 3mins walk to this restaurant so I decided to try it. I booked a reservation online, walked in, and a big smile from the receptionist right in front of the restaurant. She checked me in, asked me to wait in waiting area while they set up a booth ready for me. I waited less than 5mins to get my table. I was worried about the food would be too salty like the other places but the server was nice and explained to me which option is salty and which is not. I ordered medium rare Wet Aged Ribeye with asparagus and baked potatoes. It was delicious. The meat was juicy, tender, and not salty. It came out hot with exact how medium rare that I wanted. I had to wait a bit long for my food came out but it was worth for the wait. The restaurant wasn't too noisy and has a lot tables which good for big group as well. I actually found a fly during my dinner. It was flying around my food. I think the owner should do something with that problem since they seem like an upscale restaurant. This was my third visit, each time to enjoy their delicious burger. They are a very generous 3/4#, obviously made from trimmings they get from cutting their own steaks in-house from primals. Start @ $20, cheese and bacon $3 extra each. Again this time the meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly...I asked for medium, and that's how it came. My only complaint this time was that they changed the brioche roll found on both previous visits to a seeded "pretzel" roll. Not a fan. It was chewy, kinda flavorless and a bit too tall in my estimation. I would recommend changing back to the soft buttery brioche. No wonder so many burger places use them now. I did also try the Lobster Bisque, since it was Valentine's Day and I was treating myself. Flavor was good, more lobster pieces than most places. Server said it was a bit creamy, which I love. When it came, it wasn't creamy in the least. This is a matter of personal preference I suppose...this was decidedly brothy not creamy in any way. For folks who like it that way, fine. I don't think Chef uses any cream in his. All this said, I may return for burger again, but would avoid the bisque. Staff were all very pleasant, and the restaurant is beautiful inside. I was there @ 4pm...they looked to be super busy for V day. Most every table and several bar stools (where they seated me) had "Reserved" signs. However, the die aged ribeye, $100, wa overcooked and my family had finished all their food and the replacement steak still never made it. Canceled the order and ate my family's leftovers. The manager did apologize and offered us dessert. However, after all that they charged us for the dessert and only took off the steak I never got. We are locals who go to Delmonico Grill 2-3 times per year. We were celebrating my husband's birthday on a Tuesday evening. Although the food was great, per usual, we were very disappointed in the service. Our salads and bread took 35 minutes to be served. We had to ask for a water refill. The waiter seemed uninterested in making our experience "the best". We finally skipped the dessert and went elsewhere.
