Since it was Nov. 2 and I hadn't heard a peep, I called to find out when they were planning to come out. They wouldn't be servicing us anymore, Tanya told me, because our account had been sent to collections. Then she hung up on me. The account was sent to collections because we never received any invoice! It was paid in full immediately when we received the collections notice, and I called Automatic to apologize for the oversight and explain that we hadn't gotten any of the invoices they said they'd sent. It was the first time in all our years of doing business that we had overlooked a payment. At the time, they acted as though everything was fine, but now they were refusing service. After arranging winterization services with another company, I called back to complain about Tanya hanging up on me. I asked to speak with her manager, and she told me she was the manager. I asked her why she had hung up on me, and she replied that they were not going to service our property and she was not going to waste any more time talking to me about it. THEN SHE HUNG UP ON ME AGAIN. I want to make sure as many people as possible know what a horrible company this is to do business with. Avoid at all costs. At no time did Automatic telephone requesting payment, as Tanya claimed in her "review." I am a real (former) customer who believes others would benefit from being able to read about my real discontent without having it shunted off as a filtered review.

Yesterday in the first very hot days of summer our sprinkler system failed. I found M & J Landscaping on NextDoor and saw they had many good reviews. I submitted an online request for them to contact me and imagine my surprise when Mario called literally 15 minutes later! They offered to come out that very day to take a look at the problem and, again to my great surprise, said they could fix it that same day. The problem took several hours to fix and when they were done, the sprinkler system is working better than ever and they cleaned up the work sites extremely well. The price was very fair for all the work they did. These are very knowledgeable, very hard working, honest individuals and I am extremely grateful for their help. Recently installed pavers caused some of the existing underground pipes to fail because they'd been hit by paver workers digging, but these guys addressed and resolved the issues. The controller seems relatively easy to set up a regular scheduled watering program with a manual over-ride especially for newly applied grass seed. Since the controller is a wi-fi operation, it also recognizes and self adjusts when rain is in the forecast. Kyle was patient explaining the features of the controller. I was very impressed watching these guys work as a team, resolving difficulties with the install and finalizing the project. From the beginning, there were issues with the installation and unclear maintenance instructions, despite my proactive efforts to follow their guidance exactly. The sod never fully established, and large sections began dying shortly after installation--even though I watered as instructed and stayed off it. What was most disappointing was the lack of follow-through and communication. I reached out multiple times over several weeks asking for help and providing photos, and was repeatedly told someone would contact me--but no one ever did. I asked to speak with a project manager or owner and still received no meaningful response. When I finally spoke with the owner, he stated he would "never warranty any work," and accused me of "just trying to get a refund," when I was simply trying to see if he would uphold the company values outlined on his own website: customer satisfaction, integrity, honesty, respect, and continuous improvement. In addition, their Client Service Coordinator acknowledged in writing that "Tim will be first to admit that over the last year or two, we haven't always delivered the experience expected." Despite this admission, no effort was made to resolve the situation. After reading other customer reviews, it's clear this is not an isolated incident. Many customers report similar experiences: poor product quality, an unresponsive owner, and no willingness to take responsibility or rectify defective work. I now have to pay another company to replace the lawn entirely. Based on my experience, this company delivers poor-quality work and does not stand behind it.
