Dua Tran, owner and manager of Pacific Landscape & Design recently completed a landscaping project for my home. Here are highlights he accomplished: a) repurposed the buried rocks in the soil to make a retaining wall around the perimeter of the fence, b) devised a solution for the irrigation to address the large footprint of the L shaped backyard and front lawn, c) molded the concrete curbing as requested, d) added his signature bamboo and boulder design, e) willingness to be flexible for change orders during the course of work, f) repaired the fence where the last contractor screwed up on the install, g) picked up and installed every single tree and shrub I bought from three different nurseries. Mr. Tran is an honest man, hardworking and treats his employees fairly. August 2018, we recently hired Hieu Nguyen (Pacific Landscaping) to do two tasks: 1. Put up a new fence, posts, three gates and drainage. 2. Upgraded and extended our existing patio to pavers in the backyard and small walkway in the front yard. Hieu Nguyen came up with a great design that eliminated a large portion of the lawn area that does not grow well under all the fir trees. Very easy to work with and creative. I am looking at replacing the sod in my front and back yard with artificial grass. I called for a quote from Pacific Landscaping and Hieu was available right away to come out and measure. My daughter was there to tell him exactly what we wanted done and ensure the correct areas were measured and he kept telling her "It's going to be a lot of money" which doesn't matter to her she is not paying for it. I have called Hieu 2-3 times to follow up as I haven't heard a word since he was out to measure over 7 days ago. If a company can not send you a quote in a timely matter or return your calls I question how responsive they will be to work with on my project. I am moving forward with another company. read more

Both our front and back yards desperately needed a makeover. We had a sad looking front yard with overgrown weeds and a jungle of a backyard on deadly slopes leading straight down to a retention pond. We had some grand ideas on how to fix everything but we also had a set budget. We shopped around and compared prices, and at the end decided to go with Pacific Landscaping. They didn't offer the lowest price but the quote that they offered was reasonable (we support fair wages) and the cost breakdown was very detailed, and it was this attention to detail that truly set them apart from all the other landscaping companies that we talked to. I can go on and on about why you should seriously consider them for your upcoming landscaping job but I should probably keep it concise or else you won't continue to read this. So here's the breakdown of why I think they deserve a solid 5 stars (I'd give them 10 stars if that was an option): Customer Experience : Hieu was very courteous and respectful throughout the whole project, he fielded all of our questions in a timely manner, worked with us to bring our vision to life, and did not push us to do anything we didn't want. Professionalism: Hieu and his crew were very respectful of our property during the entire renovation. They worked hard every time they were out here. No inappropriate behavior exhibited or profanity used around my family. Landscaping Skills: They did a wide gamut of things for us which in itself is a testimony of their skills: retaining walls, cedar fence installation and staining, hog wire fence installation and staining, sprinkler system installation, hydro seed and sod installation, deck replacement, patio and walkway installation, relocation of plants, and planting new plants. Quality: Excellent. Enough said. Attention to Detail: I am a downright perfectionist and was very impressed that I only found a couple of areas that needed some extra TLC throughout the entire project (which Hieu gladly fixed). Flexibility/Change Management: We had quite a few changes that were made and Hieu was very patient with us while we worked through our indecisiveness. Communication: Hieu kept a frequent and open dialogue with us about the progress and pinged us on key decisions before moving ahead. He was careful to ensure we get what we had in mind. Schedule: Good work takes time. You'll need to have a bit of patience if you decide to go with Pacific Landscaping because they are a small company and sometimes it's hard for them to juggle all their commitments but Hieu will try his best to get things done on time. He will even work weekends if he has to (shh...don't tell him i said this) Cost: Their price was very reasonable with no hidden charges. The entire project was completed very close to the initial price quoted, and that's only because we had a few add-on's. Hieu also allowed us to breakup the payment into several installments. My family and I live in Cali, but my in-laws live in Washington. We try to come once a year to visit. We were BBQing in the backyard last year when the deck somewhat fell apart. Hieu kept me updated the whole tiime. We ended up re-doing the deck, added a patio, fixed some fencing, and my folks even hired him to do monthly lawn work to maintain the yard. I had Hieu come out twice to provide a bid for our backyard project. Our backyard is tiny, but needed some sprucing up due to our large dog (AKA destroyer of all things). Hieu is very easy to work with and knowledgeable. He never seemed to be in a rush, or turned off by our small project. He was able to answer all of my questions and address my concerns (and believe me, there were quite a few). He provided good suggestions and never tried to upsell his services. Easily reached by text or e-mail. Price was very reasonable and he was able to finish the work earlier than originally planned. We ended up having him install artificial turf (looks and feels like real grass, which was a great investment, pet friendly and no maintenance), grading and laying rock/gravel with some edging work with brick. Turned out great and we are pleased with his work. I've had encounters with numerous landscapers and Hieu was by far the easiest to work with and delivered everything he promised and more.
