We stopped here to look at wedding bands. It was our first stop- we weren't really sure what we were looking for or what we should be thinking about spending on something like this. The staff was very patient with us and super helpful! They were able to educate us on different items available and what suited our lifestyle, needs and price points. They had great selection and lots of options and also custom options as well. They were very friendly and very fair with pricing. We ended up purchasing both of our wedding bands, having my engagement ring reset, and bringing in some old gold jewelry which they purchased from us that help to go towards the purchase of our jewelry. My husband and I brought my wedding ring here to have it made a little bigger...Not a dieting sort of woman I've packed on some pounds in the past fifteen years and my ring was fitting more like a sausage casing...The ring was supposed to be fitted the same size as my husband's ring...He gave them his ring so they could size mine...Right ..We picked up the ring and it didn't even fit over my knuckle...Some great sizing there...After I flipped out for about 10 minutes he brought the ring back into the store and they had some blah blah lame ass explaination about they had sized it according the sizing stick or whatever it's called...What they said made no sense...It was not truthful...The ring was no longer round and you could tell it was made smaller not larger...We were told we could wait and it would be sized correctly..A few minutes later the saleswomen came out of the store yelling," Here you go, service with a smile"..Not on my side there wasn't...Fifty five dollars to size a ring we had purchased there ???...Are they serious??? If I could give zero stars, I would. My boyfriend purchased a ring for me for this Christmas. He started paying for it in August and finished up his payment on December 12th. Once I got wind of the gift and its price tag I pleaded him to return it. Knowing me I'd loose the ring, feel awful, and never forgive myself. Besides, we have pets to take care of and rent for an apartment coming up. So, he went to return it. The manager refused, stating that he would only give store credit. We don't need or care for store credit. The return policy for the store (not stated anywhere on their website) reads: "14 days cash return (must have receipt)". My boyfriend JUST gained ownership of the ring (making his final payment on the 12th of December). Today (the second time he tried to talk to the owner about this) is the 22nd of December making him the owner of the ring for 10 days, WITHIN the return policy window. Nowhere does it state that the count of days starts the moment you make your first payment nor does it make sense seeing as he did not get a receipt (with the return policy on it) until his last payment. So, if you don't have a large amount of money to blow on a piece of jewelry and want to make payments on it YOU BETTER MAKE DAMN SURE WHOMEVER YOU ARE BUYING IT FOR WILL LIKE IT OR YOU ARE STUCK WITH IT OR LOUSY STORE CREDIT. The icing on the cake was when the owner looked at my boyfriend and stated, "Just because your girlfriend dumped you doesn't mean I have to give you your money back". That is some good ol' fashion customer service if I ever seen it. But seriously, this guy is crotchety and has abhorrent costumer service skills...his personality could use a touch up or two as well. Bottom line: Don't buy jewelry from him. That is what my boyfriend gets for trying to support our local businesses, jeeze. read more

Pushy, rude, condescending, overpriced...I can't say enough bad things about this place. When I went shopping for engagement rings, I checked out A&E, but after about 10 minutes of talking to Andrew, I walked out. As soon as I told him I wanted a sapphire instead of a diamond for my engagement ring: he became so critical and contemptuous I had to leave. He even went so far as to say I may as well get glass if I'm not getting a diamond. What a jerk. If you want that 'used car salesman' experience when you buy jewelry: A&E is the place for you. If you want someone to respect that you're spending a lot of money in their store, and who wants to accommodate what you're actually looking for...go anywhere else. A&E is the worst. read more

Well considering Fred Altman's years in the community, I would have never suspected that he and/or his associates would have changed out diamonds for lesser quality when you bring them in for repair. But, I know that is exactly what happened to my diamond studs. Fred was confronted with this accusation. Denial followed along with an increase in the appraisal from $8k to $12K. That was the resolution. So, if you want to be lied to and stolen from, go to A & E Diamonds and Gold. Deborah read more

I brought a ring in to be appraised and new ring made from diamonds, I do not think they used the diamonds from my ring. The ones in the new ring were a lot smaller. Get multiple estimates from other jewelers before making a purchase. read more

My husband purchased my engagement ring here on recommendation from a co-worker. It was beautiful, and handcrafted. Upon closer examination, a few flaws came to my attention, i.e. asymmetry, rough edges, but it was mine. When we went to purchase my wedding band, I inquired of the whereabouts of the certificate for my diamond. In return, only an excuse that it is in Israel, where the diamond came from. (I don't care, get it.) After my honeymoon, I returned to have the rings sized a smidge larger.. only to receive my wedding band back with NO ENGRAVING. Returned again to find the engraving on my ENGAGEMENT ring, not my band!! Every 6-12 months, I went for a cleaning and requested the certificate for my diamond.. more excuses. 6 YEARS after the purchase of my engagement ring, I returned due to a fleck of gold bent up from my prong. (and to inquire about my certificate). Finally, the jeweler looked at my diamond with the loop, got the number from the girdle of the diamond and ordered a duplicate. Was that so hard?! Left engagement ring for one week for repair. Returned to a ring that was altered beyond recognition. Huge prongs now lay over the table of my diamond where V-prongs gently held the corners before. "That is not how my diamond was when we purchased it." He replied that yes, it was. HE did not even work there when we bought it. I reluctantly took the ring and left - heartbroken. The owner was not there, of course, even though I called ahead to be sure. I referred to my wedding album. The ring is positively mounted differently than before. After consulting another jeweler, turns out there's an explanation as to why the setting had to be changed. That explanation would have been key to my understanding that the ring HAD to be changed due to the channel setting of diamonds. Only a solitaire can be RE-SET in a V-prong. The process requires temperatures that could damage channel set diamonds. I would have preferred the explanation to the lie, hands down. DO NOT purchase any jewelery from these shiesters!! read more

Overpriced and pushy. I purchased jewelry there only to find out that it was worth half of what they said.

I had to take my ring back three times in order for them to fix it so the diamonds didn't fall out again. The owner was very defensive and mean to my daughter. It looked like he was going to punch her in the face. He got so close to her she had to use her hand and tell him to step back. They then proceeded to tell me I bought a cheap ring. I bought it there so I guess that tells you something. read more
