I've owned three Movado watches for a number of years including a diamond encrusted piece that's my baby that I treated myself to. Parking is a little challenging as they're located in Union Square on the 8th floor. I paid for the parking garage since my daughters and I grabbed lunch and shopped nearby after. Movado watches need to have their batteries replaced and be serviced at authorized dealers or you compromise your warranty and the watch seal. I typically go to the Vacaville location since it's closer to me and they charge $50 per watch to replace batteries. It's a little frustrating that it's so expensive but they do a great job. My primary complaint is I've gone there multiple times and nobody was available to service my watch and it ended up being a wasted trip. I was charged $35 per watch for battery replacement and they did a great job and reset the time for me and serviced the watches promptly. That was greatly appreciated as I'm not a fan of leaving them and my daughters were in tow. The office was clean and well organized and by the looks of it their workshop where they service the watches is clean and efficient. I was very satisfied with the service I received and wish I would've brought my last watch that I had decided to pass on due to budget constraints since they were significantly cheaper. I was very pleased and I'll definitely stop by again if I'm in need of having my Movado watches serviced by a knowledgeable authorized dealer. Thank you for taking great care of me. read more

I found this place on Gucci's website as their authorized repair place. I needed a couple of links for my watch. They responded to my email quickly and gave me a great price but said they would need to order the links. On EBay people are selling used links for over $100 each. They quoted me $37. So I went in there to bring them a check (their CC machine was broken and wasn't getting fixed anytime soon.) and expected to wait a few weeks for the order to come in. I explained that I needed the watch for my son's wedding the following month. He went and routed around in the back, and found the links and added them on the spot. Very reasonably priced. I went at lunchtime to get a new battery on my Movado and the guy, who may or may not have been Guenther Robert, was done within 5 minutes. The store is in the 8th floor of a building. I came here to remove some links from Movado watch my husband just gifted me. They are not really a museum but a certified center to do services for Movado, Omega, Gucci, etc. The two people running the place are bit traditional but very knowledgeable. They don't communicate in a way to upsell you anything, but do a good job in maintenance your products. I would come back here again for other services. read more

Like every fine instrument there is a time where one must perform maintenance. so how the heck does one do it for a watch? i don't even know where i'd go to learn but i do know where to take my watches. The days they are open kinda suck. they're only open Monday- Thursday and that made it more difficult for me to drop off and eventually pick up my watch. It's great that they were willing to hold on to my watch for 4 weeks until i was in town again. Now the real important stuff on why i gave them 5 stars. my watch was running slow, it looked beat up and what i got back was a precision time keeping device that looks new. good chunk of change to have it worked on but them it looked beautiful like the day i first got my watch 10 years ago. read more

I've been bringing my beloved Gucci watch to Robert Guenther for years for various reasons and I've always been impressed with his care and service. From battery replacement to fixing the bracelet band to importing rare little screws from Switzerland (damn those devils were pricey), Guenther has always kept my watch in 'tick-tock' shape. If your precious timepiece is ever in need of repair, you'd be wise to entrust it with Guenther. Now all you need to get somewhere on time is a double espresso and a swift kick in the bottom out the door. read more

This place was recommended by the Gucci store at SF Union Square when I brought in my Gucci vintage timepiece and asked for the battery change. The Gucci Salesperson gave me the business card that has ROBERT GUENTER service With the address and phone number. So I went and the person I spoke to was this Asian man and he quoted me $35.00 for the battery so I said ok . Then he comes back and said the screw in the back of my timepiece need to be replaced because it's broken due to another place that I asked before to replace the batteries. So I said how much would it be altogether.. he said $80.00. Maybe it was a miscommunication. But fine cause when I came to pick it up the price was $115.00 Now I don't mind paying that amount. It's just the woman that helped me today was very rude . I did not have my stub with me because I explained we had a death in the family and I misplaced it but I gave her my name and mobile number for I was supposed to be called when it's ready to be picked up. Anyways she came back very unhappy with it and in a very rude tone told me " you have not paid for it yet !" So I said yes it's not paid yet ! I brought three Movado watches to them, all of whose batteries had run out and one which also needed a new band. While the woman at the front desk was quite friendly, I was not convinced on the quality of their service especially after they attempted to have me leave the watches to get new motors for $350 a piece. When I presented a warranty card from Movado, they told me they needed my warranty booklet as well (which I didn't save). Doubt I will go back here. read more

A bit sloppy here indeed. I went in to have my Speedmaster re-sized while I waited and they did not install one of locking pins correctly so it was just sitting loose in the watch bracelet. Being a bit OCD, I had brought a paper clip with me in order to check this and in the hallway outside after I paid, I was able to push one of the pins out since it was not properly locked in and just sitting there. I immediately went back in and the guy said he missed that one and fixed it. For the price charged, he really should have checked and double checked his work and not call it done until it was done correctly. Based upon this experience, I am now leery of using this place for future work on my Omega watches but I don't really know where else to go. read more

Had a couple of Gucci watches repaired here and fix only lasted 6 mths... even after paying for "new circuts." Never again. They tried to fix but not sure they know what they are doing. Second time they attempted another fix for another Gucci watch, it came back and only worked a mth or so and the back was not closed tight. Wishing them the best, but I can mail to them any longer. If you can visit in person, you may have better results. read more

In an unmarked office building nice security guard assured me was in the right place. I hadn't called ahead. I found the door and tiny space with counter. One other person was in there with me and it was a little tight. I had to move so she could open the door to get out. Five minutes and $35 later, I was good to go, new battery installed by licensed place. The strangest moment was exiting the elevator on a silent floor where the doors bear the names of luxury brands. Called in to find out about ordering a replacement band for my Movado watch and had a somewhat straight to the point somewhat rude conversation from the person on the other end of the line. Buyer beware Movado does not accept returns no exceptions. No matter if you purchased it 10 min ago or 2 min ago they absolutely will not return your money. They will not inform you before you purchase your watch. They will only point at the small sign and look at you like your crazy for even asking. I thought Mavado was absolutely one of the best companies, but I was wrong. Even their employees think that Movado is wrong for having such policy. They would change it if they could, but all they can say it's not up to them. Shame on you Movado you should listen to your employees and your customers. 1 star for the employees they're awesome people. You have been WARNED avoid Movado outlets. I would recommend Kay's Jewelry for purchasing they have a 30 day return policy and the latest watches out. Movado outlet does not :( read more

My visit here was brief so I'll keep this review brief as well. After spending $8 on toll and 30min worth of parking, I was already irritated. But the gentleman that helped me was awesome. He assessed my Movado quickly and explained to me exactly where the problem originated. He explained that he could ship it off for the service it needed or that I could send it myself on my own time. Me and my Husband brought his Movado watch here a little over a month ago. His watch stopped working and it was still within the two year warranty Movado referred us to this location to get it fixed. We drove from sacramento. The service was good they seemed to be knowledgeable, they told us his crown fell off so water had got in and rusted all the parts. They said all the parts are covered under warenty except the crown and stem which we paid $80 for. We also paid an extra $22 dollars to have it shipped back to us. They told us we should get the watch back within two weeks. It has now been 5 1/2 weeks and still no watch. We have tried calling and have got no answer. I am beginning to get concerned. We will try to call again until hopefully someone answers. read more

Lightening quick; no taking your watch in to a jeweler and having it come back a few weeks later. I like that it takes 5 minutes or less to get your watch battery repaired. Finally had to have the battery on my Movado watch replaced after over 4 years. I had originally planned to take it back to where I bought it in San Jose but the store closed down. There is another location at the Westfield Shopping Center in SF and I called and they quoted me $20-$65 to replace the battery and depending on how backed up the watch guy is it could take 2 hours. After reading the great reviews of this place, I decided to walk over during lunch. I called first and was quoted the $30 to replace the battery. While it is more than most watches, it is a Movado. Walked in the very tiny waiting area, gave the guy the watch and within 5 minutes I had paid and was on my way. Great service and they take credit cards. read more

I sent my ESQ watch here because they service them--I had a scratched face, and the blue stone on the crown had broken off. A woman called me, told me it was completely dried out (?) the seal needed replacement and she was VERY rude! I told her since they didn't seem to want to fix it to just send it back to me. She threw (yes, threw) it in a box with no padding and mailed it back. I then sent it to the New York watch servicer for ESQ and they did the cosmetic repairs, changed the seal and were really very nice. I think maybe being on Nob Hill has gone to their heads! read more

I only take my Omega watches here if there is no other option, such as only factory service or parts. The guy at the front desk seems nice enough, but the main technician is aloof and sloppy. He does not seem to take great care with watches, scratching the caseback of several of my Seamasters after regulating them. They are also overpriced; I expect this with an "authorized service center" but they tried to charge me $100 for an aftermarket bezel insert when these run for $25 on eBay, and $20 for refinishing the clasp in a brushed finish when another watchmaker did this for me for free. I recommend only going to this place if you have no other option. read more

Apparently THE hotspot for Movado fixes, as I was the third in line to drop off a watch. It is pricey as others have said, but if you want that Movado ticking, you gotta pay for it. The watch just needed a few fixes (battery, crystal face popped off, new dial thingie to change time), and I walked out of there $110 lighter. But they were fast! Only took 30 minutes apparently, even though I couldn't stick around. I just went back later. Good luck negotiating prices, the girl in front of me with her 3 diamond rings couldn't successfully do it. Athough, flashing the diamonds, a new Movado she bought last week to replace the broken one and then complaining how she has no money is not quite a good negotiation tactic. Just sayin'... read more

As an addendum to my review four months ago, I went to a jeweler at Grand Century Mall in San Jose, who repaired the Gucci watch for $30. The battery holder was broken. This is apparently a common problem with my Gucci model. The repair technician at this facility clearly knew the problem as he was able to quickly provide me an estimate to repair. Like I said, he initially quoted $250 but reduced it to $125 when I asked to document the repair as I have extended warranty. I took my Omega Speedmaster in here for a repair and they were informed, polite and prompt with the service. The price fell within comparison with another shop I spoke with and I would bring my watch back to this shop in the future. I want to clarify some confusion with previous reviews around being "Authorized". From what I understand this "was" an official Omega service center until Omega stripped this certification from all independent shops. IMHO, I don't care if they are no longer recognized by Omega as long as they have the same training as they once did, use authentic parts and offer competent service. In fact, I would rather not take it to a boutique for many service situations. Rolex is doing the same thing as Omega in regards to their independent shops and it's absolutely terrible. This is not only disrespectful to the watchmakers who have dedicated there lives to servicing these brands but it's insulting to the people who own the watches. When I asked an official boutique about my repair they insisted that they would send the watch out of town and within two weeks they would give me an estimate that I could then refuse at which time they would send the watch back to the boutique for me to pick up. Rather inconvenient for me. Also no mater what the service was, and mine was minor (replacing a bezel), the would insist on doing at least a partial services if not a full services. This would equal $400-$800 they said. I told the official omega boutique that I was speaking with that I wasn't interested in a full service because the watch was in perfect mechanical shape. He responded arrogantly by saying "how would you know?". I love Omega watches but I will no longer buy from or take my watch to an official boutique and put up with this sort of insulting absurdity. This would be equal to the car dealership insisting that although you only need new tires they would like to do an expensive check up on the entire engine because "you don't know better". I would suggest owners find a local watchmaker that they trust like this one (Omega Service Center at 210 Post suite 802) and build a long term relationship with them. We need to support and preserve the craft of these independent businesses. read more

Their costumer service is terrible. I called them multiple times during their business hours over a course of a week to ask about a replacement part for my Movado watch. They never answered the phone, not once. I even left messages. I finally just called Movado costumer service directly (800) 810-2311 and was able to immediately speak to a costumer service rep. He was extremely courteous and was able to order me the replacement part I needed all within 5 minutes from the start of my call. I'm sure the price I paid for the part is less than this place would have charged too. read more

This place is very reasonably priced and efficient- they've been able to repair my Movado watch bracelet within 10 minutes while I waited, and the repair held up for years. (Seems to be a manufacturing defect- pin in bracelet eventually slides out.) I tried to get this repaired at a different shop that quoted me 3 times the price and told me it would take weeks! Definitely recommend for repairs. Also very inexpensive and quick for battery replacement. read more

Admittedly, after reading the few bad reviews, I was skeptical about taking my recently purchased Movado Certe model here for service. Street parking here is next to impossible during business hours, so best to park in 1 of the various parking garages. The business is up on the 8th floor and is basically a small, standing-only service counter with the repair area in the back. I think I was greeted by the younger Asian man referenced in prior reviews. He was quite courteous and careful when handling my timepiece. He asked a lot of good questions that showed he was interested in my satisfaction. The watch was losing minutes, so he changed the battery. It now keeps laser-precise time. It should be noted that I first took the watch to my normal repair place, who were unable to properly service and open the watch correctly. R. Guenther Service is one of the few authorized Movado repair centers in the Bay Area. I didn't want to send the watch back East for simple servicing. $30 for battery servicing was a good deal all things considered. read more

This shop is actually Robert Guenther Service Center up in Suite 802 They're located in a building with a lot of different watchmakers and can service a wide range of watches there. They can service under warranty, Gucci watches and Movado watches, as well as a few others. Good customer service but the phone line is constantly tied up, so don't expect phone communications to be great. This shop's watchmakers have a lot of experience under their belt and had been an official service center for Omega before Omega changed policies and did all their work in-house. They still work on Omegas there, however, and can still get parts. Pricing to service is fairly competitive for the quality of work they do and they tend to be pretty quick, unless they have to order parts from the factory, which can take three or four weeks up to several months if it's on back order. Something about overseas production and customs, I think. It being downtown, parking is terrible unless you go to a garage. If, for some reason, they're not open (they're closed on Fridays!,) you can (assuming you're comfortable with the idea) package your watch carefully(!) with a note explaining your problem and contact information, and leave it in their mail slot. They'll try to contact you once they come up with a cost and time for repair. There are a few general things I think people should know overall, regardless of what watch shop they go to. Where to start... Batteries, I guess: * Batteries: Some companies will cover batteries under warranty, usually in the first year but you should always get a battery change after you buy a new watch because it's anybody's guess how long the battery has been in there. Batteries will leak inside the watch if you leave it in too long and it could still power the watch as it does so. What that means is, if you leave a battery in a watch for too long, the acid in the cell will leak and cause damage to your watch! Try not to wait for the battery to run out and get it changed about every two and a half years, tops. * Warranties: Not too many people bother reading the warranty and I can't blame them. They're boring. It's a good idea to keep all of your paperwork though, including the receipt! EVERYTHING. It's important to note that warranties aren't insurance. If you break something, there's a possibility it's not going to be covered under warranty. It's meant to cover workmanship, which can be sort of a gray area. More specific to watches, the outside of a watch is generally not covered under warranty. This is probably because it's exposed to the elements and is prone to general wear, which makes it difficult to determine whether it's actually a workmanship problem. Sometimes a factory will get enough feedback that they'll decide that something is faulty and cover it under warranty. If you get turned down for a warranty at a service center, you can always check with the factory and see if you can get a second opinion of sorts. The drawback is that you'll have to mail your watch to them, so they can decide what to do, and then if it isn't something that can be covered under warranty, they'll give you a cost to repair. At that point, you can decide whether to have it done or just have them send it back to you without the work done. --The warranty card for these things needs to have been filled out by the retailer on purchase. If not, make sure you have the receipt! * Crowns that Screw Down: If your watch has a crown that screws down, don't crank down on the bloody thing! You'll end up putting a lot of wear on it and will likely strip the threading (the little ridges that allow it to screw down.) Not being able to screw down the crown could compromise the water proofing/resistance of the watch. * Water Proof and Water Resistance: Almost no one ever tells you this, but there's a difference between water proof and water resistant. If your watch is water resistant, it would be best that you don't go jumping into swimming pools, do dishes, take showers, and/or do whatever else that might submerge the watch in water for a good amount of time. Washing your hands should be fine. Assuming the gaskets are in good shape. It's anyone's guess how long gaskets will last. They all break down at different rates, depending on the environment they're in. It's probably a good idea to have the watch people test the gaskets from time to time to make sure they're holding up. * Bracelet Links: These are basically your typical articulated metal things that secure your watch to your wrist. Bracelets. I almost forgot to mention this one. There are little metal rods or rod-like things that are used to keep the bracelet together. Usually pins and tubes. These things wear out over time --probably because they flex and cause friction. Once they wear out, the little pins will start sliding out. Keep an eye out for pins sticking out of your bracelet. I've had a watch fall off my wrist because the pin worked itself free! read more

recently bought a stainless steel strap for an omega watch i own, the strap is counterfeit, i took it here to have that confirmed and they did. in order to return the strap i need something in writing so i went back and asked, offering to pay for the service. the young woman behind the counter was very nervous but told me they are not authorized to make any communications like that, that i had to go to an authorized omega service location. when i said i understood that this was an authorized service location she said no, they worked on omega watches but were not authorized. i said again but you are listed and have a sign on the door that you are authorized, she again said no they are not authorized. i think they are authorized but she did not want to get involved so said they are not. all she had to do was say it was not their policy and i would have been fine but the way she handled it was very poor customer service and is not very professional. read more
