It probably took around an hour for them to inspect the car, but there's a nice waiting area to get some coffee and water. It's hard finding a trustworthy place and is reasonably fast. I'm glad there are auto shops like this that can restore my trust and faith in these places.

Needless to say, a winter weather advisory was underway, with freezing conditions, and my car wouldn't start. I checked a few places online and then recalled a co-worker had mentioned his great experience with Eric at My Brother's Mechanic. Eric greeted me upon my arrival and was skeptical that it was a faulty battery since the car is fairly new. A quick diagnostics on the battery revealed it was in great shape! The culprit appeared to be a dash cam I had wired into the vehicle, draining the battery when the vehicle was off. Eric was forthright in his explanation . . . a trait that seems rare these days in the automotive industry (i.e. car dealerships). There was no pushy up-sell or an attempt to push another service. I had a lot of bad fortune with the car in the last year and got tricked by a mechanic before to dump money into it I didn't need to. I didn't realize this until Mukesh told me they had done not the best job and when they tell you to replace the shocks to be skeptical. Often I've found when you're a younger man with a Lexus even if it's an older one, the mechanic will try to charge you an arm and a leg. Not Mukesh. I had previously some rats get into the engine area and I took it to two different Car X places and they wouldn't help me, wasting my time telling me that it was hopeless without even looking at the car. Mukesh did the diagnostic and told me not to worry and identified clearly what the problems were and what I needed. He was able to identify through sound in the passenger side engine area that the water pump was not working properly and if that failed I could lose the engine. He also told me that at 120k you're supposed to replace the spark plugs and identified that one of my O2 sensors for the catalytic converter was not working. He did these three things and charged me a very reasonable price. He also came back to the shop in the evening on Saturday so I could pick up the car that day since I had to work 3-8pm. He used to work at a Toyota dealership so he knows older Toyotas, Lexuses, and Scions like the back of his hand. Excellent experience. Exactly what I was hoping for.
