I have been happily shopping at the Mahopac stop & Shop for years, but just had the worst grocery…read moreshopping experience in my entire 72 years. I tried to find an official complaint line, but they do not have email, web, or chat input at all, so I'll vent here in public instead. I was checking out with just two lines open (on a Sunday afternoon), and there were four in line at each register, so I queued in one of the lines that was clearly open, with its light on. But when I got up to the register, the cashier yelled at me rudely that his register was closed. A courteous cashier would turn off his light, and service every one in the line at that point, but not this cashier. He turned off his light and rudely told me to get at the end of the now ten people waiting in the only other line. Eventually the store opened a second register with no attempt to manage the now long upset line, and in the resultant drag race to the new line, of course I ended up at the end of the longest line. The cashiers seemed to think this was funny. In all, it took me some thirty minutes to check out, while being insulted and laughed at in the process. This is no way to treat customers. Even Walmart treats me better than this, so they will be getting all my business now.

There I…read moream figuring out how to weigh fruit, find the item by item name or item number, and then weigh the item. All the while I'm thinking, aren't other people out there better trained than me that are usually hired to do this? I put in a digital coupon item, and the coupon doesn't save me the three dollars it said it would when I clipped it. So now I have to wait for a human after all! Who'd have thunk it? So I show the coupon and in the small print it is for pick-up or delivery only. I said great, here I am ready to pick it up. No she says it must be done in advance from your phone. Ok I said (since I am standing there with the ap open) "if you prefer, I'll order the pick up and you can walk me to the car with it". No she says, "It is too late today to place the order." My response, "isn't that time restriction based on the need for Acme employees to have the time and availability to A) read the request, B) select the item, C) bring the item to the front, D) bring the item to the car? I've literally bipased all of those issues for you, and saved me a trip back tomorow, a disappointed kid at dinner tonight, the three dollars your app promised me, and a bunch of work tomorrow for an ACME employee. Nope. So I have her void the item. Here I am driving home with the one item I came in for (the only not brown ground beef I saw), and a bunch of fruit; all the while wondering, "how is it there is such an incredible difference between the ACME in Mahopac and the one in Yorktown Heights in the Triangle Center?

FRIENDS! Shopping (several times in one week), here was one of the best food shopping experiences…read morethat we've ever had. Period. This place feels so crisp and clean inside that it almost feels like a culinary museum. Ha! But it's better than that, 'cause you can buy the things, too, for less than $10,000 (unlike a museum!). LOL Actually, we found it both aesthetically and logistically pleasing as well as pretty affordable, given the value of their products. My spouse and I live in NYC, and were just in the area for about ten days...and it made us (nearly) want to move to the Somers/Purdy's area. I say almost because we're "big city" types, but man, we're still thinking about it. It's partly tempting since the customer service there was SO good. Everyone - like, everyone - was friendly, welcoming and down to earth. It seemed/seems like the staff members really care about the quality of their customers' experience, which is golden. Though we had particularly memorable (read: stellar) experiences with the following staff members: Dave, Nick (or Nicolas), Josie (in the Bakery), Julie, Jacob, Kelsie, Bryan (the Manager), Enza (who lovingly made our yummy sandwiches), and Michael C. Shoutouts of massive gratitude to you all! : ) Thanks for helping to make our experience at your epic grocery store so lovely. Have a wonderful and restful weekend, everyone. : ) All the Best, Kat Katsanis-Semel PS Their homemade tortilla chips and mild guacamole are second to none. Eat up, y'all!!!

The pierogies literally have black mold everywhere (opened them 2 days after buying from store). My bag of apples were so badly bruised and threw all away. My bag of lemons also moldy. There is nothing I trust eating from this store, and you shouldn't trust anything either. This management should be ashamed of themselves. I was initially skeptical about this place, considering it looks like it was made from the shell of a disgraced Hannaford's supermarket. While that may be true, I stepped inside and was immediately impressed. Not only does this store have aisles upon aisles of fresh produce, unique frozen goods that I've never seen on New England shelves (Blake's Sweet Potato Turkey Pot Pie, anyone?), and about a hundred different varieties of craft beers (!!!), but also a fabulously designed layout with creative and theatrical facades for each section that would put Wannado City to shame! I especially loved the seafood section's, which was reminiscent of my Rhode Island roots. Love it! Even though I visited Tops Friendly Market for the first time today, it's definitely not gonna be the last. If you've followed my Yelp reviews, you'll know that I LOVE a good grocery store, and this one's open all night! All the better for those late night Halo Top cravings. 10/10!
