Located in a shadier part of Anaheim, I guess anywhere outside of the immediate area of Disneyland is a little shady. There's a reason for the "Ana-Crime" nickname. Anyway I digress. After turning into the plaza and driving past the dudes with the shaved heads, tattooed arms, baggy pants, and wife beater staring at you, you'd find A&R smog in between two car mechanic stores. With no appointments necessary, the past two times I've been, the owner immediately gets to work hooking up your car with one hand and the other hand holding his phone with live streaming of the games. Yes, he's that good. While he's doing his thing, you can survey your surroundings to access whether or not you need to duck from any stray bullets. Also you can play Guess that Chemical game! You don't know that game? Why it's the game where you guess the chemical that's pooling on the ground in front of the mechanic's garage. Is it coolant? is it petroleum? Whatever it is, it will surely keep you occupied till you get your smog check done. Within two shakes, he'd have your smog check done, printed out, and on your way with no problems. I found a coupon for A & R Smog in the PennySaver so I decided to go here and I am glad I did. The technician that helped was great at explaining what he was looking for while doing the smog check and coupled with the fact that I got a great price thanks to my coupon ($30), I will definitely be back when another smog check is required. The process took about 30 minutes and he quickly got my certificate done electronically so by the time I got home I could pay my car registration. Those other reviews are fake. This place is your typical scam. I showed up with a coupon for a $27 smog check and all of a sudden it was gonna be closer to $50. Not to mention getting in n out of the parking lot is a nightmare.....drive in and have to back out. Pay the extra $10 and go somewhere a little more legit!! read more

I'm sorry that Mark A had a bad experience but my previous review was legitimate. I recently went here the beginning of September and was once again pleased with the service I received. The only reason I don't give A&R a five star is because of the difficulty in getting into his unit. I called ahead of time and found out what time would be convenient to get my car tested. I showed up on time and was able to get right in. The owner is friendly and quite efficient. I was able to get tested and on my way to get my registration renewed within 15 minutes. This is the 4th time I've used A&R and I will continue to go back. Check the website because sometimes they have coupons. It is hard to find the first time but I think it is worth the effort. After getting your certificate you can go to AAA right up the street and get your tags. read more

I searched reviews on a few different places in my area before choosing this place because of the $30 fee (cheaper than everywhere else). When I drive up it was at a very sketchy location but I'm cool with that considering the price. I drive up and the only man there came out. I asked the price, he said $60. I said "$60? But your website says $30". He asked me to show him so I did. It's on the home page, states it as if it is simply the price. I ask him if it is his website. He says yes. He says it is a special. I ask how to get the special. He won't answer me. So I said goodbye and left. I guess I looked like someone who could be scammed in to paying double!
