December 20,2025: My family ,including my Brother in Law visiting from Seattle , WA all dined at A & V tonight. We by chance , also bumped Into my Sister in Law who was also dining at the restaurant tonight. She grew up in the area and wanted to return to her roots for a delicious home style, cooked meal. She was then off to the church nearby for a Christmas celebration and or show. We ordered garlic bread with cheese for an appetizer along with Baked whole clams Oreganata. We also received delicious warm toasted Italian bread and butter. The entrees were : A large pepperoni pizza, Fettuccine Alfredo, Veal Sorrentino ( 4 large pieces) with steamed Spinach. MmMm Mm so so good! Also I ordered a half order of Rigatoni with butter and grated cheese. My son ordered a beer, the husband and I , two glasses of Chianti , my favorite and a Diet Coke. The portions were the largest I have ever seen. The value is truly proportionate to the quality And taste of the food this restaurant serves. Gina , as always and the waitress were both warm and gracious hostesses and servers as well and were quite attentive as always. They both greeted my family warmly as well when we arrived at 700 PM. The table, as a side note, was in the corner as I requested and beautifully arranged with Christmas decor around it on the window sill. No room for desert!!! This place is away from any common main road ; with only street parking which is sketchy at times great pizza to pick up, but if you could sit there and eat, it's well worth it. Prices are beyond reasonable. most things are under $15 and if you're getting something like a steak or shellfish, it might be 30 and this day and age where can you get that the staff is very kind and the food was just generally good anything I tried was delicious. We had Alfredo sauce with marinara Marcella cream cheese carbonara I couldn't go wrong. I've been dying to come back. I haven't been here in years it's just a well kept secret. I ordered a chicken parm with pasta, and an additional side order of sausage for delivery. I received the chicken and the sausage, but not the pasta. When I called, he said that by ordering the extra sausage, it canceled out my pasta. What?? I paid extra for the sausage. I ordered a hot antipasto and linguine/clams white sauce. The pasta dish was dry and tasteless and the antipasto was not the usual that you get but mostly fillers - huge quarter head of broccoli, lots of sliced sausage and sliced mushrooms, 2 clams, 2 shrimps, eggplant parmigana and a heavy tomato sauce. Called at 7pm, 8:06pm expected delivery time and arrived around 8:45pm. Picked at a few items in antipasto and had 2 forks of pasta. This is a small mom and pop shop. Very friendly always accommodating. My family has gone to this restaurant for years. My daughter who is now becoming picky will eat anything and everything here which is great when she's having a bad week of eating. Her favorite is the penne a la vodka and my favorite would be the fish dishes! If you rather not dine in can always do take out next door at the pizzeria. I have been in this neighborhood twenty one years and I'm thankful to have three pizza shops that I love for different reasons. Let me start with the first one...... A&V Pizzeria is truly a neighborhood pizzeria. From the small restaurant area that reminds you of the scene in The Godfather, to the friendliness of the staff in the pizzeria A&V never disappoints. Every time I go (my favorite is the veggie slice), the pizza is tasty and fresh as well as their entrees. My kids used to go all the time on their way home from school for a slice. OMG!! This pizza is the best. So much so that when I visit my family in Yonkers this is the first place I go. It is so flavorful and the crust is perfect. That first bite makes me dance. Decided to order a large cheese pizza and some cheese sticks. I meant to order garlic sticks but it's allright. My total was 19$ with free delivery and I payed with card though the phone, the guy is spoke with on the phone was rushing and sorta rude, he didn't even tell me my total until I asked. The pizza was pretty good and the crust was thin but it was a great portion and huge slices ! This pizzeria has also a restaurant beside it that serves mostly red sauce meals. The pizza is good. That is, if you like your slice on the thicker rather than the thinner side of life. Good mix of sweet red pizza sauce and mozzarella. I like the pizza. It's good. Best meatball parm wedge around. Delicious meatballs, no skimping on cheese and the best bread. This is a big delicious wedge for 6 bucks. All others are dreck. Come back to the 70s when a wedge was amazing and come here. Pizza is great. In the restaurant they have personal pies. Thin crispy heaven. Every meal is great here. Chicken francese - they went all out with olive oil (was way too much) barely taste the actual sauce., spaghetti with garlic and oil and also with tomato sauce were decent. Chicken parmigiana was average. It took about an hour to deliver my food but thats normal for a place like this busy. Best pizza on the north side of Yonkers. I've been coming here for over 20 years & the pizza has the same great taste. Amazing sauce & perfect crust! Their pasta dishes are good & they have a nice variety of slices on the counter to choose from, if you're not in the mood for a plain slice. The older gentlemen with the mustache, the younger guy working there (Irv I think) & most of the staff are friendly & welcoming. I only have two critiques of this place. 1. When it gets busy it seems as if certain workers have very little patience for the customer. I've called ahead to order & have been told since it's not a huge order to just come in & place the order. If I'm calling ahead it's obviously because I don't have time to wait & want my order ready when I get there. 2. It's so tiny. It's very rare that you walk in & the one table they have isn't occupied by a customer or by all the pizza boxes. Came here on Friday May 13, OMG is this place off the beaten path, probably easier to find a needle in the hay stack or getting to Mojave Desert. This is a very residential area of Yonkers that is surrounded by industrial area, street parking, very narrow two way streets. I was ready to go home, but decided to look for parking - enough said. Another OMG moment - what a dive, good grief Charlie Brown! The host/waiter could be a little bit more friendlier & smile for once In any case, there were twelve of us - reservation for nine but some straggling souls show up also. They accommodated all of us at one big round table. According to our groups organizer this place came highly recommended, we were also warned that the portions were large - we shall see Bread came out, nice warm & crusty, flavorful. We ordered house salad for the table - one massive plate piled high showed up. There was enough salad for all twelve & then some. The salad was fresh, crispy & the house dressing was just awesome. I ordered mussels in wine sauce & my wife ordered eggplant parmigiana which came highly recommended, the individual next to me ordered a pasta dish & that is all that I remember The eggplant was delish, my mussels (New Zealand aka green mussels) were also delish, the pasta was amazing. Every one raved about their dishes. This place is small so on weekends highly recommend making reservations. Needless to say shall return, if I could find this place again. 1st time I order from this place because my BF and I were in the mood for a quick dinner: pizza! My brother has told me great things about this place. Upon that being said, it was all okay. #1 - Every website shows that their large cheese pizza is $10 According to the delivery guy it is $11 #2 - Every website shows that it's free delivery with a minimum purchase of $10 According to the delivery guy delivery is $1...to top this off we literally live 2 blocks away from them. We just thought "hey free delivery, why not?" plus it is a cold night and our 16 month old was being fairly crabby. #3 - We expected quick delivery but it came an hour later. I guess we should have order Dominos since it's the same time frame. Also, upon calling on the status of the large pizza, the guy over the phone had an attitude. Weird... So many good reviews from others, so why did we have the NOT SO GREAT ONE? I am disappointed. The pizza is good. Somewhat burnt on the bottom and the crust too. This sucks...
