I've eaten at A&Ws before, this location in particular is disappointing. I'd recommend another A&W as other locations have provided far better quality and service than this. Order: The entire burger I got felt as though it was completely refrigerated (save for the meat patty, that was warm briefly) and the cheese was not even partially melted. The fries tasted dry and burnt, and didn't even seem to have salt added. Lastly, despite ordering no ice, my drink had ice. I don't make reviews often, and I was just in to grab something to eat after a long trip. This was a regrettable stop that has only lowered my opinion of A&W. read more

Last night I had a craving for a coney dog. we drove to four different restaurants but they were all closed since it was 6 pm on Sunday. My wife suggested A&W in Garden City, we used to there when we were dating in the sixties. Well, great, they were open. We ordered a couple of footlong combos. I thought $24 was a lot but I wanted that hot dog. When we got home with the food we were kind of surprised how a place that has been selling hot dogs for a hundred years can put out such a mess. The meal was awful, but the worst part is that my wife had to cancel her dental appointment for a crown because her stomach is still so upset this morning. The dentist may charge us $50 for canceling, so that will e the icing on the cake. So long A&W, you'll never see us again. read more

I had stopped in for a quick dinner and had a burger meal which I enjoyed a lot. I've always liked A&W burgers for the nice size beef patty and fresh toppings. I had the Papa Burger and it was nice and hot which also made the bun nice and soft! The fries were also hot and delicious and I had to stop myself and eat my burger. And the classic root beer made it a very satisfying meal. The young lady who waited on me was very courteous and said, "You can get your drink and have a seat, I'll bring your order out to you." Which was very nice! I had never been to this location and was glad that I stopped in. I have future appointments in the area and look forward to returning again in the near future! read more

I am here right now 1/7/25 3pm. I sure wish Liz was too. There is no manager in store. I ordered at drive through a #8 with chesse curds and root beer no ice. I get to the pick up Area and she brings my bag and at the same time grabs my card and says cheese curds and root beer and walks off. I tried to say wait and called to her. She came back and said well you should have been listening when I gave it to you. The absolute nerve... you should have been listening while ordering. I call in and they say no manager. Another worker says they are having some kind of problem in there. No reason to take it out on the customer or talk to someone that way. I try to explain especially with no manger there you don't get in a customer face and talk wild and they hung up on me. Smh!!! read more

My partner and family came in for a Cream Freeze, an Orange Freeze, and Cheese curds. Everything was great, especially the curds, and the service was amazing! The lady at the front register was extremely sweet and serviceable! We just ate there, so whoever is on this shift did a great job and we had great service! read more

Second time I called to complain my order was wrong. Second time the manager sue asked her employees and came back and said they said I'm lying so she refused to rectify the problem. It's been close to 25 years since I've last been to A&W so when my kids mentioned that they wanted to try it I figured we could give it a shot. At 7:30 pm, the place didn't seem very busy. We went it to order and as soon as I started looking over the menu, the first thing that stuck out was the prices. I expected to pay around $7-8 for a combo meal, not $8-10 but hey if the food is good I'm fine with that. We ordered a bacon cheese burger meal, an order of chicken tenders, a Cod basket & some floats. All together almost $40. The food can pretty quick, which was great. When we got home we started pulling everything out of the bag and quickly realized that there was no cod. It was replaced with a second order of chicken tenders. Now, let me note that I personally HATE chicken but guess what I had to eat for dinner? When my son opened his burger it looked like it was just thrown together with little care. The fries were nothing to write home about but at least they were warm. Overall, the experience was not only lackluster, it was disappointing. I realize why it took me 25 years to go back. Suffice it to say, I will not be going back 25 years from now nor would I suggest the place to anyone. I'd rather go to Checker's, which is pretty comparable in menu and at least worth the money. One bacon double combo is $11.00 with tax, that comes with 1 medium drink, 1 medium sized fry (that gets smushed in the little bag), and a burger with 1 slice of lettuce, 3 tiny pickles, the butt part of the tomato, 2 onion 2 pieces of frozen beef patties, don't ask to speak to the manager the blonde woman will be rude even though I just wanted to get my fry remade /: I just calmly left I used to like the little joint but with expensive not that good of food and rude service I just would rather go get a made to order quarter pounder! I know I sound nit picky and I am being that way but I'm honestly not that hard to please it takes balls for me to ask to speak to the manager. Refused to make an orange freeze.... said they could only make floats. Told her how to make it, and she simply kept repeating "I'm sorry. We only have floats today." So now we're stuck in line with 5 cars behind us, three in front, and have to wait in line just to LEAVE, with NO ORDER,... because this girl doesn't want to make an orange freeze, and because the drive through design basically traps you in, if no one will let you back out (as in our case today). Be careful if you want lots to drink...they only do 1 free refill. All in all, I wasn't impressed with this location. This is your typical, run-of-the-mill, "give the high-schoolers jobs for the summer" restaurant. In my mind, A&W has always been synonymous with coney dogs, burgers, fries, and root beer. My meal today was the footlong hot dog, onion rings, and large root beer. Of course, there's not way to screw up root beer, so I can only really comment on the food. The bun fell apart, the chili was super greasy (like it was sitting all day) and the hot dog wasn't even a true foot long. Whoever made my meal put two regular-sized hot dogs in the falling-apart bun. I order a foot long because I want on complete dog on one complete bun. I did not get that today. My onion rings were soggy. Like, REALLY soggy. Not cooked long enough and not at all crisp. I just wasn't satisfied. If this is the last place on earth that's open, go here. GRR!!! Why did I not listen to the ONLY Yelp review for this A&W?? I wanted to take my stepson to a restaurant I remember fondly from my childhood. Being from Dearborn Heights, my Dad used to take me to the location on Telegraph near Northline where you got to press the button at your table and order through the speaker (I thought this was the coolest thing when I was a kid). So tonight, I suggested we take Z to either Daly's or A&W. R chose A&W, I think due to unfamiliarity with Daly's (mmmmm Dalysauce...), so I rolled with it. Boy was that a bad idea. The restaurant was not busy, but I was clearly inconveniencing the young cashier by coming in to have dinner with my family. I ordered our food, simple stuff. The boys both had hotdogs (regular and foot long size). Can you say ewww?? They were both shriveled and on stale buns. I had some chicken tenders that were overcooked. Please understand when I say I know that A&W is fast food. I was not expecting a miracle here. I was, however, expecting a decent meal. And for $25 (sides, cheese curds, and drinks included), I think I should have gotten that. The only satisfactory aspect of the visit was the Root Beer. Please, if you can avoid it, do NOT go to this A&W location. If you have the time, go head down to Taylor where both the experience and the food are sure to treat you better. read more

Eww. How do you feel about 1992? Not only was that the year most of the employees were seemingly born, but that's about the last time anyone updated the interior. It's just gross - old wallpaper that's faded and dirty, the countertops are so worn the color's coming off, and it just feels dingy inside. We went here because there are no A&W's by us at home, but save the effort and just drive a little further in to the one in Dearborn, which is much nicer and far less skeevy. (All of the above having been said, the food was on par for what you'd expect in a fast food place.) read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would have. After ordering only 2 drinks to go we waited almost 15 min to get them. When we did they had root beer all over the cups and only were only half full. Worst A&W ever. Should have just walked out when I first got a smell of the place, it has a musty dirty smell to it, but I had a craving for their root beer and a footlong. How can you mess up a hot dog? Well, this place has perfected making a hot dog horrible. Not only was the hot dog microwaved to death, they heated it up in the bun.
