Great food! [Tonopah NV] We grabbed a quick bite at this A&W located on Main Street... they were closing in 30 mins. The restaurant can be accessed from the Mizpah Casino. Known for its root beer floats, burgers, and crispy fries we ordered their Bacon & Swiss Double Burger w/ Garlic Aioli combo (includes fries and a drink). Omg, I've not been to an A&W in years and this burger was so delicious! I loved the fries too, so crispy good! The restaurant provides a cozy atmosphere for families and travelers, clean with lots of booths and table seating. Friendly customer service!. Friendly staff at the A & W Restaurant that was next to the Mizpah Hotel in Tonopah. Menu is consistent with the A & W Restaurants I've visited elsewhere. The greyness of the restaurant made it feel a bit dim inside but the tables/chairs were clean. And, we got our food soon after ordering. Bizarre and hostile management in a shared space. I had a incredibly frustrating and hostile encounter here. I entered the A&W side, unaware it was past closing time as the door was open, and there were about eight people inside. When I asked the manager to change a dollar for quarters, she rudely told me they were closed and that I needed to leave. I moved over to the connected casino side, which is open 24-hours. The bartender was perfectly polite, exchanged my dollar, and I purchased a gumball from the machine located in the common area shared by both businesses. The bartender then gave me explicit permission to use the downstairs washroom. As I headed toward the stairs in the common area, the manager from the closed A&W followed me, ordered me to leave, and threatened to call the police. She then followed me back to the bar area and announced I was "86'ed," completely overriding the casino staff who had just welcomed me as a paying customer. It was an absurd, aggressive power trip in a public, shared space where I had permission from the casino staff to be. read more

We saw this A&W classic while walking on Main Street in downtown Tonopah, Nevada. After two disappointing ventures in local cuisine, I was just going to get a milkshake. I ended up rather enjoying the cheeseburger and the fries were fresh. Just not my favorite style. The cashier was wonderful. I would definitely go back! I did go back. The second time back, I got another shake. Just as good as the first! We were* going to buy the little root beer mug/ glass as a souvenir, in which they had available. This cashier however, was quite rude, said they were closing & we couldn't get the glass / after just informing us of the cost, basically kicked us out so ... I don't understand that. I suppose the service is 'hit or miss'. The ambience is that of a fast food joint set in a casino type building off the main road. Good lord I know it is a small town but the the folks working here are CREEPY . Cigarette smoke overflow from the casino next door doesn't help the ambiance. However, the BBQ place up the road is no more and Hometown pizza is closed on Wednesdays so options are nil. read more

Visited there 10/7. I ordered a single tender and after hearing their list of sauces, I asked for ranch & also added a Spicy Papa Sauce too. No mention that the SPS was $.69. As they were starting to deliver drinks & part of our order, they mentioned they were out of the SPS. No problem, I ordered 1 finger, ranch was perfectly fine. No idea at this point that I was charged for the SPS sauce. As I glance at my receipt, that's when I realized they charged me $.69 for the SPS. After learning I was charged for a sauce they were out of, I went to the clerk at the register (Stacie) to get my refund. Principle here folks. She gave me a song & dance about how they were then charging me for ranch then. Receipt says Ranch $.00. Also stated BBQ sauce was $.00 on receipt. Was not in the mood to argue. We also ordered 2 Root Beer Floats, did not get 2 .. 1 was a freeze instead. Food was ho-hum. Probably won't go back. read more

I haven't been to an A&W in probably 40 years! We were on a road trip and passed through Tonopah and decided to stop in and stretch our legs and have some ice cream. Located next to a Casino on the main drag, this fast food venue is obviously a local favorite. Social distancing encouraged with tables taped off to ensure 50 % capacity. We ordered a vanilla cone and a hot fudge sundae, both for $3.74. Well worth the price! You couldn't buy that much ice cream in a carton at the grocery store for that price. read more

I was trying to feed a large group about 20 people I called in three hour before I needed the food the person on the phone was not very helpful, I told her four times I could pick up the order at a later time and she continued to complain and talk about how A&W has gotten taken by other groups that called in orders, I explained I would come over to the restaurant and pay for the order and she did not have he bank set up, she continue to complain about the order and how they don't take call in orders and I once again offered to come over to the restaurant and pay for the order in advance it was for a large order 25 cheeseburgers and 25 Fries and 25 Milk shakes. She said she would do it and continue to complain. I want to support the local business, the staff at Home Town Pizza, Strawberry Hill and Subway have done an outstanding job taking care of our group during our stay in Tonopah this week. We went to A&W two nights ago and spent over $80 on floats and thought we would order out last meal lunch today from A&W and the Staff were more concern about complaining about us ordering ahead of time. The person on the phone needs to work on their people skills, she wasn't inviting nor was she very helpful or accommodating. She complained so much during call I finally told her to forget, it seems she was to busy and didn't want to take the order! I love A&W, and will try again next time! This is probably the best place to get a quick bite in Tonopah. The chicken tenders are fantastic and juicy, the burgers are perfect, and the root beer floats are to die for. The workers are super nice and funny. The restaurant is decorated with bits of Tonopah history and lots of room keys from hotels around the world. read more

Food is ok but the service is absolutely horrible. I asked for ranch for my cheese curds and she was so dang snappy with me it wasn't even funny. Old fat lady not wearing a tag for her name and no uniform at all in a bright hot pink tshirt. I at least come here once a week due to my work and I will never be stopping at this establishment while this lady is there because she has no business being around customers with having that attitude in such a small town. Most of their food are super messy. Chilli cheese dog was spilling over and so was my milkshake. Onion rings super greasy obviously too. They don't give you enough napkins. They aren't available to just come and grab and when you ask at the counter guess how many they give you? ONE. I had to ask a few times then gave up. The food here does not taste fresh. The only good part about the food is their soft serve, and I can't make a meal out of that. The service is exceptional but it could definitely be better. The reason this place has the extra star is because of how easy it is to go here and eat with some of your friends and have a conversation with them. Not only was the service half ass, it was wrong. Spent 26.85 and ended up unable to eat half the order as it was wrong and they would not offer a refund. We are passing through for the night. Terrible customer service. The staff just magically expected us to know that they're closing up before 10 and none of their machines are on. Just passing through town, too. This place has delicious food, desserts, and diet root beer. The staff was very friendly. One staff member in particular, Mariah, was so accommodating and nice. If she isn't already in management she should be. They also have some cool memorabilia hanging on the walls. My only suggestion is they need to have brewed ice tea. The only drinks are fountain drinks. That won't stop me from eating here, though. I will stop in again the next time we are in Tonopah. read more
