I had a flat tire and had my truck towed to Carlton Tire. I thought I'd end up having to pay to get 4 new tires because the tow truck operator told me so. Gary and his crew were honest and forthright and told me it was just cosmetic and 4 brand new tires were not necessary. They even replaced the flat tire with a used tire saving me even more money. Customer service here is great. Gary and the rest of the staff are understanding and won't try to sell you something you don't need. During my wait time, I also heard them giving customers a break in costs when they clearly could not afford it or were in distress. This is a shop that cares about its customers and the community. I came in at before 8am and was the first one there. I came early to be the first one to get new tires and have them mounted. When they opened the lady behind the desk helped other people first. This is the third time SHE had done this to me. This time i came early to the shop to make sure I would be the first one in and out so I can open my store and what did she do she shined me on helping other customers until I got in my car and started driving off. There was this poor old man there with a red corvette and his car was on jack stands for 3 hours with the kid talking the hole time making him impatient and wondering what the heck is going on here? While I want to love this place, I can't with good conscience, recommend it. There prices are fair but the work is questionable. First off, there are no appointments, it's kinda first come first serve, which leads to a cluster fuck for parking. There is absolutely no organization at all to there business practice, just a bunch of grease monkeys running around in every direction. The driveway is not paved, so whatever you do...don't go when it's raining. Secondly, in the middle of a pandemic, these people refuse to wear or enforce masks...including the guy working behind the counter. In a county wear masks are mandated to be worn inside businesses, they feel they are too good to wear a mask. While most of the customers wait outside (without social distancing), there is an inside waiting room where people are aimlessly sitting around coughing, sneezing and breathing shoulder to shoulder. I'm not a stickler for adhering to masks while outdoors and maintaining 6 feet distancing, but I'm certainty not going to walk through a petri dish of viruses and bacteria to get new tires. My advise would be to go to another place where you can feel more comfortable that you will not walk away with your health compromised. read more

Got a nail in the right rear tire close to the side wall on our 2001 Chevy Tahoe. A local lakeport tire shop looked at it quickly and said they couldn't fix it. Went to Carlton Tire and was greeted by Colton. He busted his butt, explained why it was fixable, and had us back on the road in 20 minutes after he patched it. Great service at a good price! Disappointed with our visit today. Staff not wearing masks, and we waited 10 mins as the assistant was having a phone conversation, with not even an acknowledgement that he'd seen us. After a horrendous few days after hitting a rockslide north of Laytonville and then an accident while hitchhiking to a cell phone area and 3 days in ICU at Howard Memorial, Carlton Tires was a breath of fresh air. First place I went told me I have to replace it, it would take two days to get here and they couldn't drive me home. I just got in the car and came to Carlton. After arriving from Mill Valley, CA to our destination outside of Kelseyville, we discovered a rear flat tire on our SUV. The very efficient driver from Lakeport Towing, dispatched by AAA, recommended Carlton Tire to repair/replace it. After meeting with Jason (co-owner of the business with his father), I decided to replace all four tires (although only two were nearing the end of their life span). The deal Jason offered could not, frankly, be beat in Marin County! In addition, he replaced two tire sensors at no charge, as well as a valve stem assembly and valve stem that had been damaged the last time I purchased tires. Jason was very friendly, but no nonsense in his dealings with us. The tires were expertly balanced and mounted in short order. Recently my parents were on a trip from the Central Valley to Fort Bragg. I got a call from them at 5:00 PM asking if i could find them a tire shop to replace 2 of the tires on their trailer that had blown out. They were just coming into the Clearlake area on HWY 20 so I first called Tire Pros in Cleaklake. They had the tires in stock but would not help them because they would be closing 10 mins after they got there. Really, you can't help out an elderly couple in their 70's even if they get there before you close. He said sorry I cant help you and hung up. Next I called Carlton Tire in Lakeport and spoke with the owner Gary. He informed me that they had closed about 15 mins ago and due to a large fire in the area his guys had already gone home. He checked his stock anyway and said he had them in stock. He told me to tell my folks to come by anyway and he would take care of them. This is the way business used to be handled. Carlton tire is the bomb, I went in to get my tires balanced and to have a tire pressure sensor removed from a 1996 Corvette. Gary asked one of his workers to get on it and he worked on my car for at least 2 hrs. During the removal of the right front tire from the rim , it split leaving the tire ruined ,and instead of charging me for that tire Gary loaned me a new tire for a month or so.at no charge. Then Gary ordered me a new one and at my convenience to come in. All this and he only charged me $50. Gary is an asset to our community. read more
