My usual stylist was booked out for a week and I needed a haircut, so I decided to try somewhere…read morenew. Let me just say -- lesson learned. I called and got an opening for the next day. I was told the haircut would be $60, so I booked it. When I arrived, I wasn't even sure I was at the right place because the business name didn't match. Turns out it's just a bunch of stylists renting chairs and advertising under their own names. The space itself is a weird little hole in the wall -- not inviting at all. The door was locked when I got there, and my stylist was nowhere to be found, so another customer -- still in a robe with product in her hair -- had to get up and unlock the front door for me. That set the tone for the rest of the visit. I tried to communicate what I wanted since it was my first time, but my stylist seemed far more interested in talking than listening, so I eventually just let her do her thing. Then we moved to the shampoo station, and the chair was absurdly small and uncomfortable. I mentioned it, and she just chuckled and said, "Yeah, it is pretty small." In the middle of washing my hair, she asked me, "Isn't this relaxing?" -- after I had just told her the chair was uncomfortable. Fluorescent lights blaring overhead, people chatting at full volume in a tiny space, and the world's smallest chair... relaxing is not the word I'd use. I just nodded so I didn't have to answer. Then, while still rinsing my hair, she asked if I wanted styling. I was confused and asked what she meant. She explained that styling would be an additional $60 and would require washing my hair twice. I declined -- I wasn't looking for rollers or anything like that, just a basic cut. We finished up, went back to the chair, and she said she'd dry my hair so I could see the cut better. She roughly dried it, left it still damp, and the haircut looked like something straight out of the early 2000s. At that point, I just wanted to leave. Before I could even stand up, she asked if I had Zelle. I said yes, but reminded her I was told they take credit cards. She said they do, but there'd be a fee and she'd prefer Zelle. I just paid it and got out of there. I walked out into the cold January air with damp hair and ended up with a headache. When I got home, my husband asked me if it was raining outside because of how my hair looked. I just blow-dried it myself and accepted that this was a reminder: make the appointment with the stylist you trust and know that they are doing, even if you have to wait.

I have brought pics with me and when I ask to make a small adjustment, I get reprimanded. My last visit just this past week - I asked for a more layered cut (pictured) and it came out like a one length bob. If I ask a second opinion or additional advice, they get offended. Not to mention they say comments in a very offensive way like "why are you like this" or "when did you become so picky"? And then she speaks to her teammembers in Persian or Farsi or whatever language other than so I don't understand, but I DO understand body language, and it's rude. I used to get my color done as well, and it would just run when I washed my hair 2 days later. Just really not the quality.

My mom and I came for a trim and Collagen Treatment. The reservation was easy and spoke with I think was Michaela. She was the most comprensible English speaker. There was a little challenge speaking with the rest of the staff who weren't as comfortable speaking English but it was totally manageable. Alice was very knowledgeable about scalp care and noticed right away that my scalp needed care. She was right, I was experiencing more hair falling out and more irritation lately. I didn't realize that the reason was that my scalp was dry. She recommended and offered a free for today Japanese Nato scalp treatment to make sure my scalp is healthy. It made my head feel minty tingly. It felt refreshing. And had immediate relieving results. Bonus, Alice gave me a free hair mask treatment to help with my hair and we happily bought her hair serums without pressure. We excited to return and get my part 2 scalp treatment. During my appointment, my hair was bleached, and afterward my scalp began hurting significantly. By the following day, the pain had become so severe that I was crying and screaming. I have never experienced anything like this after having my hair done before. Unfortunately, I did not have medical insurance at the time, so I was unable to seek medical treatment. However, people who saw my scalp afterward expressed concern about how it looked, and the pain and burning continued. Approximately a month later, I went to Ulta to have my hair looked at. Employees there pointed out areas of damage to my hair and explained what they were seeing. My hair is now damaged, and what concerns me even more is that approximately a month after my July 9th appointment, my scalp is still in significant pain and continues to burn. I'm not writing this review to ruin anyone's career. I genuinely wanted to let the situation go, but I'm still dealing with the consequences of this appointment a month later. I'm sharing my experience because I don't want someone else to go through what I have experienced.

The haircut was done on freshly washed and dry hair, I'm so happy it was a dry hair cut because it really does lend a more accurate look. She used pro techniques, techniques that I see a lot of pro New York City stylists use. I used to live in New York and I loved getting my hair cut by such talented and competitive hair stylists. Los Angeles has talented hair stylists but sadly they charge upwards of $200 for a cut if they have any experience or talent and I cannot afford that. I was so pleased to find Lucia, so incredibly talented and reasonably priced. I normally don't post hair photos on Yelp, but I'm so obsessed with Lucia's hair cut that I have to share.
