My usual stylist was booked out for a week and I needed a haircut, so I decided to try somewhere…read morenew. Let me just say -- lesson learned. I called and got an opening for the next day. I was told the haircut would be $60, so I booked it. When I arrived, I wasn't even sure I was at the right place because the business name didn't match. Turns out it's just a bunch of stylists renting chairs and advertising under their own names. The space itself is a weird little hole in the wall -- not inviting at all. The door was locked when I got there, and my stylist was nowhere to be found, so another customer -- still in a robe with product in her hair -- had to get up and unlock the front door for me. That set the tone for the rest of the visit. I tried to communicate what I wanted since it was my first time, but my stylist seemed far more interested in talking than listening, so I eventually just let her do her thing. Then we moved to the shampoo station, and the chair was absurdly small and uncomfortable. I mentioned it, and she just chuckled and said, "Yeah, it is pretty small." In the middle of washing my hair, she asked me, "Isn't this relaxing?" -- after I had just told her the chair was uncomfortable. Fluorescent lights blaring overhead, people chatting at full volume in a tiny space, and the world's smallest chair... relaxing is not the word I'd use. I just nodded so I didn't have to answer. Then, while still rinsing my hair, she asked if I wanted styling. I was confused and asked what she meant. She explained that styling would be an additional $60 and would require washing my hair twice. I declined -- I wasn't looking for rollers or anything like that, just a basic cut. We finished up, went back to the chair, and she said she'd dry my hair so I could see the cut better. She roughly dried it, left it still damp, and the haircut looked like something straight out of the early 2000s. At that point, I just wanted to leave. Before I could even stand up, she asked if I had Zelle. I said yes, but reminded her I was told they take credit cards. She said they do, but there'd be a fee and she'd prefer Zelle. I just paid it and got out of there. I walked out into the cold January air with damp hair and ended up with a headache. When I got home, my husband asked me if it was raining outside because of how my hair looked. I just blow-dried it myself and accepted that this was a reminder: make the appointment with the stylist you trust and know that they are doing, even if you have to wait.

I specifically asked for a balayage, and the stylist said she understood. About 20 minutes in, I started noticing that she wasn't doing anything close to the balayage technique I've had done many times before. Everything was going way too fast, so I mentioned my concern. Long story short, I ended up with highlights, not a balayage. The service itself was also extremely messy. She got product on my jeans and even managed to get dye inside my ear. What upset me even more was that the bleach was left on my hair for way too long, which ended up damaging my hair and causing breakage. So not only did I leave without the balayage I asked for, I left with damaged hair. I spoke with Andrew afterward and explained how disappointed I was. He told me to call back if I wanted them to fix it. I did exactly that and left a message. I was told he would call me back, but I never heard from him. Very disappointing experience from beginning to end. If you're going here for a balayage, I would seriously reconsider. There is a big difference between balayage and highlights, and unfortunately, that difference didn't seem to be understood here. Now I'm left dealing with damaged, broken hair on top of paying for a service I didn't ask for. I definitely won't be returning.

Before my appointment, I messaged the salon owner and explained that I'm very nervous about getting haircuts because I've had a bad experience in the past. She reassured me that I would be in good hands with Cassandra. I also personally explained my concerns to Cassandra when I arrived. Unfortunately, the haircut I received was the worst haircut I've ever had. When I left, my hair was noticeably uneven all around. I was extremely upset because I had specifically communicated how anxious I was about my hair and trusted the salon to take care of me. During the appointment, Cassandra also suggested using a hot tool to place curls at the bottom of my hair so they would hold. I did not ask for this additional service, yet I was charged over $120 for the haircut and blow-dry. After I contacted the salon owner to explain that my haircut was completely uneven, I was offered the option of returning that same day so Cassandra could fix it. After having an experience like this, I was not comfortable going back to the same stylist or salon to have the haircut corrected. I declined and asked about receiving a refund. What disappointed me even more was how the situation was handled afterward. I was only offered a refund for the haircut and not the blow-dry service. As a stay-at-home mom with two little ones, I don't have an income of my own and rarely get the opportunity to take time away for myself. Spending over $120 on a haircut and blow-dry was already a significant expense for me. I then had to arrange childcare, spend additional money, and find another hairstylist to correct the haircut. This wasn't simply a haircut I didn't personally like. My hair was left visibly uneven, and I had to spend even more time and money having another professional fix it. I'm extremely disappointed not only with the haircut itself, but with how the salon owner handled my concerns afterward. I expected empathy and accountability, especially after I had made my anxiety about haircuts clear before my appointment. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not recommend Granada Hair and Makeup to anyone looking for a haircut.

I paid for highlights and left with dark hair. They told me eventually it should lighten down but I'm not seeing any improvement it's still really dark. To make matters worse I also left with visible dye on my forehead something I wouldn't expect after paying this price at a salon. Very disappointing experience and not one I would recommend I honestly wanted to cry. I really would have expected a partial refund or a proper correction by a more experienced stylist.

During my appointment, my hair was bleached, and afterward my scalp began hurting significantly. By the following day, the pain had become so severe that I was crying and screaming. I have never experienced anything like this after having my hair done before. Unfortunately, I did not have medical insurance at the time, so I was unable to seek medical treatment. However, people who saw my scalp afterward expressed concern about how it looked, and the pain and burning continued. Approximately a month later, I went to Ulta to have my hair looked at. Employees there pointed out areas of damage to my hair and explained what they were seeing. My hair is now damaged, and what concerns me even more is that approximately a month after my July 9th appointment, my scalp is still in significant pain and continues to burn. I'm not writing this review to ruin anyone's career. I genuinely wanted to let the situation go, but I'm still dealing with the consequences of this appointment a month later. I'm sharing my experience because I don't want someone else to go through what I have experienced.

My review is long overdue -- I have been going to Rafi for over three years now. Rafi is such a special and kind soul. He truly cares about his clients and his client's hair. I know we're all here to hear about the hair, so I'll skip over the fact that Rafi is a social chameleon. Rafi makes amazing conversation and when you'd rather some quiet time he picks up on that too. When it comes to hair Rafi is the color master in my eyes. Over the years I have had a good deal of hair treatments, from cuts, colors, highlights, Brazilian blowouts and balayage. However, I have…read moreto say that the Japanese hair straightening treatment that I received absolutely destroyed my hair. I got the treatment done in January 2023. My hair was a bit dry at the ends (like all people who use heat on and dye their hair), however my hair was the healthiest and longest it had ever been before I got this treatment. They made several big mistakes that should not have happened. Towards the end of the treatment process, Ben was checking on the progress of the chemicals on my hair and asked "oh, you have bangs?", to which I replied "yes". I should have immediately been concerned right then because as a hair stylist, they should have seen that I had bangs when they did the initial exam of my hair. It was then that I noticed that he had applied the chemicals on my hair without my bangs in mind. But by then it was too late... My bangs had been chemically slicked back and straightened with the rest of my hair instead of laying them on my forehead so that they would stay in the position that bangs are supposed to. Once he realized that I had bangs, he reapplied the chemicals to my bangs in hopes that it would fix them. However, because my bangs had already been processed in the chemicals for over the maximum amount of time, the extra chemical processing on my bangs left them extremely frazzled, fried, falling out, and like literal straw. When I got home I immediately noticed that my hair felt greasy like the treatment had not been washed out properly. But I waited the recommended time to wash my hair, and after I did I was unbelievably devastated by the horrible condition of my hair. My hair was falling out in fist sized clumps and it felt like it had a permanent wax residue on it. The roots were a strange zigzag texture that I can't even begin to explain. I tried all the repair products like olaplex and K18 but nothing worked. I'm embarrassed to even post these photos because I was so utterly devastated, but I hope that it helps others who might be considering getting this treatment done here. I can see now that I am not the only one who had this same terrible experience either. It has been over 3 1/2 years now since I received the treatment and my hair didn't start growing again until about a year ago. And still, it has only grown out about 2 inches. The treatment caused my hair to completely stop growing for more than 2 years. My hair will never be the same. Even though the treatment has almost completely washed out, the ends are still fried and straight-ish and my natural beautiful curls are completely different now. I used to have uniform curls all around. But now some parts are wavy, some curly, some spiral, and some are straight-ish. I wish I had never wasted my money on this, or at least done more research and looked at all the reviews first.

After 5.5 hours and $350 + tip, my gray hairs in the front were still completely visible--the main reason I came in. When I brought it up, I was told I should have specifically asked for gray coverage, which should be part of a basic consultation or at minimum asking the client if this is something they want. I also had uneven, patchy highlights. I returned the next day for a fix, requested a different stylist, and was denied. They said the same person could fix it all they needed to do was tone it down a bit, and cover the greys The "correction" resulted in my hair being taken darker overall, with the highlights essentially gone. I paid for highlights and left with dark hair. They told me eventually it should lighten down but I'm not seeing any improvement it's still really dark. To make matters worse I also left with visible dye on my forehead something I wouldn't expect after paying this price at a salon. Very disappointing experience and not one I would recommend I honestly wanted to cry. I really would have expected a partial refund or a proper correction by a more experienced stylist.

I went to her salon 4 months ago and I'm still recovering from the damage she caused to my hair. She did a so called color correction but I had dark spots all over. Super uneven. If you have curly hair, it is best that you go somewhere else. I dont think she's experienced with curly hair texture. I understand that clients always show pictures as inspiration and it's not going to look exactly like the pictures but I feel like she didn't even try to come close. She just did what she felt like doing. She's also very pricey for the subpar work she does. I have attached pictures as proof of the damage. One of the pix is the color correction, the other pix is the final product and the other pix is what I asked for. You will see that it's not even close to what I requested.

Especially with the bad salon experience that I had prior to my first visit here, Adrian truly gave me exactly what I was looking for without overcharging me like the other place did for a haircut I didn't even ask for. And every time I haven't gotten my hair done with Adrian it's been with Nadia who is such a sweet person that has never done me wrong either! Hands down it was the best experience I've had with anyone coloring my hair. I was a little hesitant on the phone at first because other hair stylists claim they know how to do a balayage but they would just do highlights instead. I like the look of natural chunky pieces that shimmer as its naturally weaved in and out of my hair. My scalp is very sensitive to bleach and my hair is thin and brittle because of my thyroid condition. Luis was great, he was very gentle and told me not to worry because he will make me beautiful. I came in asking for a chocolate balayage and he delivered tenfold. I can't believe he got my hair done in 2.5 hours, usually it takes 5-6 hours and I'm starving to death watching time on my phone.
