I have been coming to this salon for hair wash and head massage for a year now, my daughter has lots of hair so having it washed for her is so much easier and of course pleasant. It's very affordable, inexpensive and totally worth it. Anna and Shannon are two ladies that we usually come to. No appointment needed, but I love when I have all attention to us and don't have to wait, so always do make an appointment lol. I went to Cut Loose for a hair trim on a Friday (late morning) without an appointment. I only had to wait about 30 minutes, which isn't bad considering they only had one person working. The lady who cut my hair was really sweet & did a great job! The only problem was when I went to pay. I used my AMEX credit card. Keep in mind, before my cut I confirmed with the employee that they accepted credit cards. Unfortunately, they have an antiquated credit card machine. There was some confusion and I was accidentally charged DOUBLE of the amount! I don't think that nice lady knew how to accurately use the credit card device. Thankfully by that time another employee had arrived and knew how to fix the problem. But she seemed pretty annoyed and not apologetic to me, as if it was my fault or something. No customer service at all. She also scolded that nice lady in front of me for even accepting AMEX in the first place (apparently they don't take Amex). But I was never told that before paying. TIP: Make an appointment and bring cash! Oh and try to avoid that bitchy woman (I think her name was Anna or something) but maybe she was just having a bad morning. read more

Ana (Well I spell it this way which is short for Anahit-even though everyone is spelling it Anna) is an AMAZING hair stylist. I have been loyal to her and only her as my hair stylist for several years now. I go to her for color, highlights, and keratin treatments. She always does a thorough and careful job. I have biracial hair (being of both African and European decent) and it is very curly and unpredictable at times. Ana always tells me that she loves my hair. She also always knows just what to do to make it look great. Ana's official job is a stylist but she does so much more unofficially. She helps answer phones, makes appointments, provides help to the other stylists (as needed), etc. She helps manage the whole salon and keeps it running smoothly. I hope her boss or bosses recognize that and appreciate her. Shushan is also very sweet and always friendly to me. I look forward to my next appointment with Ana. Don't think I've ever been this upset about a haircut since before the inception of Yelp. Been here for the second time and will be my last. Just want to start up this review and point out the reviews that call out the appointments (mostly the 1 stars). I made an appointment this weekend and still had to wait about an hour before I finally got my haircut. Not only that but I think there were about 5 stylists that kind of ignored my presence. I'm not really that much of a talkative guy if I don't know you or the type that will complain but I wish I should have. There were 3-4 people that came after me that either had later appointments or none at all that ended up going ahead of me. In addition these guys (whom I assume are regulars) didn't need to even sign in but I had to? There was actually one stylist that came in late but waited for her first customer who came in and went straight to the seat. What's the point of making an appointment and wait this long? The haircut itself was Eh. I have to gel it otherwise it will look off. I'll probably go to another haircut spot in a few weeks to fix my cut. Finally, here's the kicker.... the credit cards weren't working (gave an invalid batch error) so I was told to go withdraw cash at the bank and come back to further waste my time. I had to drive to the bank since my bank isn't in the plaza the haircut spot was at. I ended up missing my engagement and going home very upset. I almost didn't want to come back (I won't by the way to get a haircut) but that would be stealing like how they stole my time. No apologies, nothing. Sure they are probably nice if you are a regular. But if you are looking from the outside / in, I don't recommend this place because the service you will get is based on luck. Been here twice. Once before they were ok. Today, terrible. 1/5 I really miss my old barber who retired after 25 years back in November. read more

I was coming to Cut Loose pre-pandemic and Yelena was doing a wonderful job helping me restore my hair luster after I abused it with home box dye for years and age had added to my hair dryness. She worked me with over the course of a year to get my color fixed and my hair repaired as we approached my daughters wedding. But then the Pandemic hit, and then I had cancer treatment and lost all my hair. So this review is REALLY overdue. She, Yelena, always did a wonderful job and I loved my color and trims. The lady arrived late and there were two other guys waiting who didn't have a appt. She tried to get the other guy to go first but I told her I have an appointment at 9am. We had an awkward silence because she didn't know and tried looking at the log book. So she was like "ok what kind fo haircut would you like?" I do not trust just anyone with my hair but this place manages to do an excellent job each time. On one occasion I called them almost in tears after having my hair cut elsewhere and they told me to come on over and they would fix it for me. They did ! Without it costing me too much $$$ For the most part I rarely make an appointment as this shop is located in a plaza I frequent often. They usually accept me as a walk in but if they are busy they will give me the option of waiting or coming back. The ladies are all friendly and welcoming. Yesterday I had the pleasure of having Frida work on my hair. I can be a little complicated when it comes to how I want my hair cut ( keep it long, long layers, V cut, short layer in the front etc) but she listened to me and aimed to ensure I left with how I wanted it done. She was very warm in her approach. When she found out I was half Persian we bonded a little more. A haircut will cost you $21 ( women) and they will charge $1 if you use your card. There is a chase bank right next door so I decided to just pull out cash. They offer their clients a punch card if you frequent often. I like places that reward loyal customers. I'm giving 5 stars to Shannon for the color, cut, service, and price of my new hair! I used to get my hair done from my cousin who has 2 Emmy Awards for the hair he does for TV and movies. I have tried several different people at multiple hip salons in Silver Lake, Santa Monica, and downtown LA, and have not been fully satisfied. HORRIBLE PLACE. NEVER EVER HO THERE AND TELL UR FRIENDS TO NOT GO THERE EITHER. I felt they were extremely sexist. There were 3 female hair stylist on the floor attending to 3 different people-2 women and a guy. There was 1 guy waiting and lastly I walked in. No one made eye contact or greeted me at all. I took a chair patiently. About 15min in another guy walks in and no one says a word - he stood at the sign in desk before someone finally approached him....He left. After about 20min the guy who was waiting left as well. Now, another lady walks in and sits. They all said hello and welcome to her. 25mim passed and no one has said a word to me. One of the stylist says to the lady who walked in, if she had an appointment. Lady says no but was there for eye brows only. 5 mins later she gets a chair and attended to.40 mins had passed the eye brow lady left as well. I approach and ask if they took appointments only or accepted walk-Ins as well...to which they say, both. I start asking why I wasn't attended to or even said a word to...to which the lady in the picture tells me to get out and will call the cops if I need leave. What a service they provide. After waiting for 45min for a simple hair cut- I was asked to leave without an apology and was threatened to dealt with the cops. I will also be contacting BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU and tell them about some serious safety violations. Please don't go there. That lady threatened me and came close enough to push me as well. Maybe I shouldn't be writing this review while I'm still frustrated about my visit here. I took my little girl for a simple trim and face frame and, well, just look at the pictures. I noticed the horrible cut when we arrived home so when I called to ask if she (Vana?) can fix it, she said to just come anytime so I told her 1pm. When we arrived, she apologized and asked if we could wait 10 minutes while she finishes up with the other client. We waited for 30+ minutes and no follow up. She called to apologize when she realized that we had left. I don't like giving negative reviews because I like giving people a second chance (who knows if someone is just having an off day, you know?) but wow, what a waste of our Saturday plans. I am a natural brunette and she made me a very natural looking blonde!!! backstory: I had gotten my hair done somewhere else BUT the results were brassy and disappointing... SO I came in to see Olivia, and she gave my hair new life! The cut was fresh, she removed all damaged hair. And she colored it with the perfect ashy blonde color and toner - which was exactly what I needed! If you want to go lighter, or need any color work done, Olivia is your girl!
